  1. I just did a fresh install and find that all the folders in both my partitions (XP sp2) are read only including ones in 'D' drive. When I go to uncheck "Read only" it doesn't stick. I never encountered this before. Some services were disabled durning the nLite procedure, but not removed. Security center is off. Any ideas here??
  2. No I don't. I understood the difference. The "Direct Burn" didn't do anything when I did the process as I described. I did the iso, then I tried direct burn, but it didn't do anything other than spinning the HDD and showing it was burning. The optical drive never spinned. Huh??
  3. On the page that gives you the four options of making a ISO or burning, I first choose "Create image". I then choose "Direct Burn" (after I made a ISO file first). The HDD spinned. the burner did not, but it said the burn was done even though nothing happened. Any ideas here or is it a bug?
  4. Those links in that thread are a year old and appear to be dead, or at least they point somewhere else. Still don't know the difference.
  5. Complain about what? Simple answer; tell them to use something else.
  6. I would like to see one default changed regarding adding nLite info to the 'System Properities' box to enabled by default. Actually I'm surprised it isn't that way in the first place as you should be geting credit for making additional installs and the process to do so far easier. Thanks.
  7. I have a nForce570 chipset MB (Foxconn N570SM2AA) and it has a Realtek ALC882H HD onboard audio chip. This requires a M$ UAA Bus Driver to be installed first; http://geekswithblogs.net/lorint/archive/2...6/11/81540.aspx I am using, or trying to use 2k w/ sp5.1 and when I install the UAA driver, it does show in add/remove programs, but doesn't show in Device Manager. I try to install the Realtek driver, but it still tells me to install the UAA fix. I tried the same thing on a fresh 2k w/ sp4 install and it worked (using V1.82, NOT V1.83 of the Realtek drivers), so it's a 5.1 issue. Anyone that have a nForce570 MB trying to use sp5.1 that has this Realtek HD audio chip????
  8. Using 1.4 test 2 on another box (nForce 570 chipset MB), the install went ok. It did not 'hang'. I will try again with different options and with XP (on the other bootable internal HDD).
  9. Any reports of problems of having too many drivers? The 'ad on' programs will do a unattended install without giving you any options??
  10. 1. If you add drivers that aren't used for a single computer, but used elsewhere, is that a problem? 2. When you add programs durning the nLite process, that only gives you those programs on the Windows CD for conveinence (they don't install when you load the O/S?
  11. I sort of thought that. "Last Session" is the 'last' session, where the others are previous sessions. Might want to think about changeing that. I talked with a friend at work who I told about nLite. He likes Vista (no idea why) and at the time I didn't know there was a 'vLite' version for Vista. He told me nLite hangs at 9 minutes durning the Saving settings also. He also told me he believes there is a driver that loads twice and that is why the process is 'hanging'. He is more advanced that I am, so I have to believe him. Sorry, I didn't post which SP I was using.
  12. Correction: No idea why, but when I reinstalled that version that worked before (because of another un-related issue), it didn't work if you can believe that. No it wasn't answered regarding the one session that didn't have the time/date next to the label 'Last Session'. That SP5.1 is here; http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enh...icial-SP5.shtml It works just as a M$ SP does.
  13. If I am making a mistake in the procedure or don't fully understand it, testing isn't going to do either of us any good, correct? There are two or more "Last Sessions"listed (see attachment), one doesn't have a date in the left collumn, the others do. Whats' what? Anyway, V1.3.5 did work. That modified V1.4 didn't, but I was going to try it again.
  14. Questions; 1. On the 'Presets' screen, there are at least 2 Presets listed. One (or more) has a data and time listed and one is just listed as "Last Session" What is the difference? 2. If I don't import any previous session, when I go to the following screens that have options under 'Preset/Load", if I choose one of those sessions that were in that eariler screen, nothing changes on that screen that I checked before regarding options. I don't understand the difference between these two methods. 3. When I use a fresh copy of the Windows CD instead of using the previous nLite modified copy, none of the previous settings (that I changed) are changed in any of the following screens. It's as I never made any changes. Sorry, if I don't understand this as it isn't clear to me and that complete guide sticky is a couple of years old.
  15. I just thought all those languages were in the Windows CD. Never bothered with any of that in the past. I was just excited about having the ability to add DX9 and those recomemded M$ hotfixes to the install. You are saying forget about all of that for the time being? BTW, I'm using that SP5.1 Hope that is ok.
  16. Yes, I was 1.5MB vs 2.5 MB. It was a .exe from M$. I did search and find that HFSlip site, but it looked to complicated for just doing a simple step after the install.Ok, other than than that error, I got a s***load of errors about missing files starting off with 'wbem' file names. There were way too many to write all of them down. I just quit the install. I will try again without DX9.
  17. Aren't the other languages on the install CD?? I tried to add DX9 under 'Hotfixes', but got a error message about a invaild command (something like that).
  18. Over 1 MB smaller? Too bad you don't work for M$.
  19. Sorry, I thought this was a know issue according to that other thread.I'm going to try V1.3.5 BTW, I really love this program (other than the 'glitch'). I would like to thank you for all you have done and I wish I was able to do 1/10th as much. As far as the system it is bveing installed in; Epox 8RDA MB w/ nForce2 chipset (using on board audio), AMD Throughbred B 2100, 2 256MB PC2700 DDR memory sticks, Asus V3800 video card (TNT M64 chipset), Two IDE drives, Two optical drives, Netgear NIC (Not overclocked)
  20. Where? Complain about what?Questions; 1. Is this AMD specific or is it with both AMD and Wintel based MBs'?? 2. Has it been narrowed down any? 3. If I do a straight nLite procedure, NOT using ANY customizing option, other than slipstreaming a SP and burning the CD, does it still do it with a problem system??
  21. No one has been able to pick up where this genius has left off???
  22. Ok, I tried it again with SFC off and it completed the install. I went to load a nForce2 UDP and the install hung for 45 seconds at the opening dialog box (whatever it said). I don't know what that was about, but it finally did install. So you are saying once it is turned off, it's off and you can't easily restore it? Sounds as that isn't/shouldn't be a option.Questions; 1. Huh??? I have no idea what any of that is suppose to mean. Sorry, I never saw that. Might as well merge these two threads together.
  23. It wasn't on a older version, at least my XP version worked. I think I was 1.2. Anyway. SFC has to be off? Can it be turned back on after the install?
  24. Is this a 2k issue or all O/Ss' issue??
  25. Ok, how do you do that??
