Install 7zip silently with file associations
Sonic replied to muchlux's topic in Application Installs
There is an native .msi release now (for 4.42), anyone knows switchs availables ? Perhaps there is an option for extensions ... -
Anyone can list which files from xp pro sp2 differs with xp mce cd1 2k5 (and the best with size) ? I havn't mce disks here atm, but I'm planning to add mce in my multicd which is actual about 572mb. I hope that will feat on 700mb. I have read a tweak/h*ck to enable joining domain after setup in mce, this is just the difference with classic xp pro ? Do you think it's "clean" to use a mce cd1 disk instead xp pro sp2 ? Thanks! edit: @EAT MY DUST: yes mce disk1 2k5 has sp2 + wmp10 already updated.

You can use RyanVM .net frameworks repackaged for silent install (switchless ) and moreover latest hotfixes related to frameworks are already integrated into setups. http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/

try Windows Update website directly

Okay I will try, but your link is about msn7.x which works perfectly without any modifications here and by network too ... But with MSN8 I can't install from network ...

IMHO, the reboot is initiated by windows pnp mechanism which is detect the IDE require a reboot (and all futures updates will have the problem) ... but how the original setup can reboot later, if we find we have a solution perhaps ...

What did you modify in tables ? 'CacheSource' related ?
-
I think sysprep is the solution.
-
Okay I have removed all 'CacheSource' related custom actions and rebuild the .msi with IDS. But I'm not sure about eventual bugs in the future (reinstall, upgrade, repair) so I think I will make SFX method to keep original install ... I'm using french package ... anyone can install .msi from network without issues ? edit: end of my alone topic ... switched to sfx ... perhaps in next build of msn8 that bug will fixed ...

If I run \\server\share\MSN_8.msi /qb or MappedDrive:\MSN_8.msi /qb The setup can't install. Even in manual install, the setup says it can't install. If the .msi is on the harddisk it's okay. @maniaq: Start 'transparent.exe' in Drivers.cmd directly. I have tested on real hardware and SetupCopyOEMInf hangs on setup. I break the batch with Ctrl+C to continue ... any idea about the hang ? a wrong driver ? I have test F6 drivers but doesn't work with this solution.

To delete index.dat within session use Unlocker (very great program !) @ http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ CrapCleaner is a good temp/internet cache cleaner. (You can use in a batch with 'ccleaner.exe /AUTO' to clean temp. silently)

I use RealVNC4 easy to use, basic remote desktop, but has the advantage to keep the controled system open and the user can view what we do ... Remote Desktop for a "big/long operation", fatest, more integrated ... more professionnal but has the incovenient to close/lock the session of controled system ...

You must uninstall fully PhotoGallery : it is from HP printer in fact, reinsert the original disk, choose uninstall, reboot and reinstall. For the background image rechoose the wallpaper in the list manually.
-
You can tick the option of Internet Explorer "Clear cache at exit" in Options too.

[Help] how to access system restore when none of the safe mode boot op
Sonic replied to rbaevergreen's topic in Windows XP
oups I have understand "just command prompt safe mode work" ... In fact in recovery console you can't restore backup points ... Try to run "chkdsk c: /R" to correct data on the disk ... and try to reboot ... -
I doubt that works ... UserProfile & AllUsersProfile don't set by default in your regkey path ...

[Help] how to access system restore when none of the safe mode boot op
Sonic replied to rbaevergreen's topic in Windows XP
Try tu run the program in the prompt %SystemRoot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe -
Not really the appropriate forum but go to alcatel website / support / drivers and download the drivers for your model.
-
I have read the "reboot required" or not isn't specified in the .inf file now, it's system which detect if reboot is necessary or not. Perhaps there is way to force to no reboot but I havn't found yet ... Post any results !

Simplified explication ... for %%? in (programs documents music videos) do call :setit %%?For each "items" it will execute 'setit' function with argument 'item' (the first will be programs). After function finish the work, it will rexecute the function but with the second item (documents) as argument and etc. goto :eof After finish go to end of file, so it exist in fact ... :setit The 'function' name ... do nothing ... it's called by the first command ... for /f "delims=\" %%? in ('mountvol^|find ":\"') do dir/b/as-d %%?\%1.sys &&label %%? %1 The command mountvol display information about volumes. We keep only the letters with 'for' and assign letter to a variable (%%? different from the first %%?).Next we list %%? (so the first letter found) and the 'item' given as agrument, if no file found, nothing is done and continue and if no code error (file is present) (&& operator detect error or not) we will set the drive with 'label' command %%? (letter) %1 (the first item). The 'for' command will rerun with the second letter and etc. If nothing to do then exit and the first command is reexecuted with second 'item' documents and this function will redo the work ... I hope you understand me, sorry I'm french, and the method is basic but to explain easily it's harder ... Goodbye.
