  1. Just as an FYI, since the people frequenting these browser threads don't always read the other sub-boards around here:

  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aq97tTeGl14 a friend of mine linked this video to me. That actually surprised me because did not know there has been any large shutdown of teletext service. Ironic is that BBC was first to use teletext and then kill it. On here teletext is still provived by Yleisradio OY (Public Radio company) and MTV3. YLE teletext shows weather, planes arriving/taking off times news, radioation levels per area (useful in case of emergency) and lot more. I use it daily. It is also just text based so no useless clutter like on internet mostly and news shows what really matter not useless stuff to increase read time for ad revenue If you ask me Teletext does not equal to internet or Hybrid TV services. What if internet goes down? No more Hybrid TV services or internet news. Teletext works as long as got DVB-C DVB-T or DVB-T2 signal here so good in emergencies. There is actually 112 channel that shows any emergencies on YLE teletext. Internet cannot magically replace Teletext and fill it hole. Also it requires new end device and wont work oobe on my or anyone else old TV. This question mostly applies to european members, but does anyone else here use/used to use Teletext services and what channels in your home country provides it? I drop pic from our live weather on YLE teletext here.

  3. Every single one of those is prevented using the Tampermonkey script I provided earlier. This "feature" is best "blocked" via Tampermonkey extension and not by "breaking" it at the browser coding (because while a nuisance to you and I, a lot of people will see this feature as "value-add" [Firefox, Edge, and Safari all have this "feature" also (deployed slightly differently though].

  4. Hmm, interesting. Would you be able to repeat the test with 13 r 4 and 13 r 5 three times each with new profiles for all three tests (six total)? I'm curious to see if all three new profiles for 13 r 4 especially DOESN'T add for all three new profiles.

  6. I've always kind of been a "browser junkie". I'll have ONE default browser that has to work on ALL of my 24 bookmarked finance, news, and entertainment websites. But tend to always have a small handful of browsers "on the side". My longest-running default was GreenBrowser coupled with Proxomitron - 17yr run at least, could be more (going by my archived installation disks). During that run, my secondary tended to be Sleipnir and I kept Maxthon and Opera around but didn't really use them that often. It became a daily "tweak" to keep Proxomitron happy with all of my bookmarks (back then a much longer list of daily forums and whatnot that I've lost track of). A couple finance sites would no longer work so that lead me to "official" Pale Moon which I used for three, maybe four years, right in through there. I discovered Mypal to load FASTER and work on everything I needed it to work on and used it for two or three years. NM28 became my default for a few months or so but then opted for NM27 and it was my default for two or three years. I grew tiresome of updating WEEKLY and also found that NEWER versions of NM28 and NM27 were actually performing SLOWER than older versions. So I dropped back down to Mypay 27.9.4 for only about a year until having issues with the same couple of finance sites that lead me to "official" Pale Moon in the first place. I then ran 360Chrome v13 for several months and have been on 360Chrome v12 for the last couple of months. I use 360Chrome v11 in most of my VirtualBox VMs.

  7. I do not use firefox, but use gecko render engine based browser (Webbrowser, Mypal, Newmoon). I do not like Chromium at all personally.

  8. Dave-H, you can replace two files in the Firefox folder C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox mozavcodec.dll и mozavutil.dll These are old basilisk files they are suitable for Firefox 52. There is a H264 decoder, there is no need for a plugin "Primetime" and the CPU does not load heavily.
