Well I'm still hoping to hear back from Panda technical support, so I won't do anything until I give up waiting if nothing happens! They do have a UK support phone number too. My installation has worked fine for seven months, with no problems at all, so if it's corrupted, I have no idea how or why. The service executable hasn't changed, so I can only assume it was something that was downloaded on a synchronisation update a couple of days ago.

Apart from the fact that the PSANHost.exe process is rubbish, you need to exclude many programmes – particularly the more obscure ones – from monitoring. And not just the EXE file, but the entire folder in some cases. This also includes all security programmes, such as firewalls and so on, and all programmes that run constantly in the background and have your trust.

This thread is actually only for Windows XP users. I had written back then that version 23.00.00 is not available for Windows XP, and that much is clear. Okay. The dates have always been confusing with Panda. There is no official version history, nor is there a changelog. The only file that can be used is VERSION.INI inside the programme folder. However, the build date does not have to match the release date. I'll just change the date to the build date of 12.08.2025 in my main article and in the list of all programmes.

No one can spoil Windows XP for me . I’m currently working on Plan C. First I need to free up some space on my hard drives so I can back up my main Windows XP partition as an image. And then it’s down to the nitty-gritty.

Right, I’d had absolutely enough. Forget the theory that the PSANHost.exe process only crashes once a day! It’s already happened four times today. Most recently when I was uninstalling Panda Dome. Fortunately, the uninstallation routine completed its task successfully. Now I don’t have to get annoyed about it any more. That rubbish is gone. Until an official patch or workaround is released, Panda Dome is as far as I’m concerned a dead programme. At least as far as versions 22.xx.xx are concerned. I'll still observe the version 21.01.00 on my other Windows XP partition. If it crashes just once more, it will be uninstalled there too.

Of course they have one. And if you fancy having a natter with an incompetent call centre agent who doesn’t know the slightest thing about anything , then go on then. Every company needs money, and you're always welcome.

Today, it happened again. One error message and immediate process restart of PSANHost.exe. Looking at it statistically, that’s one process crash a day. I’m currently looking for an alternative to have a plan C.

Ok. AT&T. That explains a lot. If you can't simply switch routers - which is no problem here in Germany - then you're probably stuck with your provider's one. And you can't even control your router or reconnect it using an Android or iOS app? The problem is getting a new IP via power-cycling lasts much, much longer than a short software reconnect. In my case, it lasts only 5 seconds via a self-created batch script.

I have AT&T fiber. My router is built into the fiber interface provided by AT&T. It is rather "locked down." I can't even block unwanted DNS lookups at the router, nor can I reroute DNS requests to another device, such as my Raspberry Pi (for, say, Pi-Hole). That sort of thing has to be done by configuring each connected device individually. You're welcome to prove me wrong but I doubt there's a way to force this router to obtain a new external IP address by running a script on a connected device.

That sounds like a completely corrupt installation, though. I don’t have any of those problems at all. If I were you, I’d uninstall Panda completely, carry out a deep clean – particularly of all the Panda folders and the registry – and perhaps consider installing the older version 21.01.00.

Mine seems to be a bit more stable now. It doesn't seem to crash spontaneously. The one thing that seems to guarantee crashing it is hitting the start button on the taskbar. That seems to generate an instant crash. After that it restarts and seems to settle down and doesn't crash again.

I’m already working on a plan B in case Panda Dome 22.03.05 continues to be a nuisance. I’m currently observing version 21.01.00 on my second Windows XP partition, which I’ve never uninstalled or updated.

That's only for XP users, though. We discovered earlier that if you download and install the latest version from Panda on Windows 10, say, you get that version. If you install it on XP, however, it automatically downloads and installs an earlier version (22.03.05). I assume that is the latest (and probably last) version for XP. The build date for that version is 12/08/2025, which I think you thought was December because you didn't realise the date was in European format, so it's August 12th, not December 8th, even older than you thought! The current version is 23.01.00.0000, whose build date is 29/06/2026, so very recent. Nothing back from Panda support as yet. I have disabled the real-time scanning, which has stopped Panda interfering with the rest of my system, but the service is still crashing. In my case I can only tell this by looking at the Windows System Event Log. The service is automatically restarted after 30 seconds.

Thanks but I am not interested in workarounds. Either the forum editor is able to process code syntax in the dedicated code block or it is simply unusuable and crap.

Could you please describe in details? What did you mean "kill Vista"?
