  1. Not sure about combining "modern" with XP, but I do use a version of Foxit Reader here. It was mentioned on page 11 in this thread - https://msfn.org/board/topic/176299-latest-version-of-software-running-on-xp/page/11/?tab=comments#comment-1159022 - it's definitely lighter than Adobe! I thought the Phantom version was a paid product? I've been using the free Reader. In any case you can run a newer version 9.1.0.5096 on XP, I've been using that for a little while now. Sadly it has been removed from the foxit web site, but you can still get it from https://www.filehorse.com/download-foxit-reader/34729/

  2. Info: On GitHub, the names and download links of yt-dlp for Windows XP have changed: yt-dlp_x86_Windows-XP.zip > yt-dlp_x86_winXP.exe (starting after the next release, it should be able to update with `yt-dlp -U` ) yt-dlp_x86_Windows-XP_onedir.zip > yt-dlp_x86_winXP.zip Direct links: https://github.com/nicolaasjan/yt-dlp/releases/latest/download/yt-dlp_x86_winXP.exe https://github.com/nicolaasjan/yt-dlp/releases/latest/download/yt-dlp_x86_winXP.zip For Windows Vista, new update here.

  3. Mozilla extended ESR v115 for 6 more months. Further extensions are also possible. https://msfn.org/board/topic/181987-list-of-software-that-doesnt-support-windows-7/page/34/#findComment-1281886

  4. I do not run vms in my system. My Windows XP Professional is non virtual but a real one. Maybe you ask one who is running vms too. As I said some posts above there is no need to run ProxhttpsProxy in most cases. Nevertheless I think it should be possible to run one instance in your basic system if supported to provide a HTTPSProxy connection for a vm. Maybe there is a possibility to configure your vm to use this basic HTTPSProxy connection. But just a guess! Never done before!

  5. Thanks a lot! I will do that. Could not find any documents about posting and upload limits in this forum.

  6. As far as I can see it is an overall limit. At the beginning of posting here I had an overall limit of 512 kb. I don't understand the reducing. Maybe you can find out what the upload size limit is and why it has been reduced. I see in commenting zone Max total size: 45.22 kb. Will it be resetted daily or weekly or never? No, only for testing. HTTPSProxy is more comfortable, isn't it? Did you update cacert.pem? I hope so.

  7. @Dave-H The first entry is related to ProxHTTPSProxy and the second one to HTTPSProxy. You know I have both in my system. I found a list with all error codes. Here is the link: http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/archive/wuc.htm And there you can find: Error Code: 0x80072F8F Dec Error Code: -2147012721 Error String: ERROR_INTERNET_SECURE_FAILURE ErrorClockWrong Description: One or more errors were found in the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate sent by the server. I wanted to upload more screenshots but I have a size limit of 45 kb. No chance! Is that normal?

  8. Ok, item 1. to 6. checked and done. Very good. Important is item 7. I found this on a web site due to error code 0x80072F8F: Therefore we have to compare the Windows Firewall settings too. https://imgur.com/a/OEfex0j

  9. @Dave-H Due to the fact we have to check what else you have missed check following items: Tls 1.2.reg was applied successfully. Important is reg key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\WinHttp] "DefaultSecureProtocols"=dword:00000a80 Check if still correct patched wuaueng.dll version exists in both folder system32 and system32\dllcache. If you have SFC enabled Windows is able to swap it by an other one. In my system SFC is disabled. Be absolutely sure you have taken the suitable config.ini for HTTPSProxy. I have provided two of them, one for HTTPSProxy and one for ProxHTTPSProxy. Check Trusted Zone if only the three provided urls related to Microsoft exist. That's very important. I've already mentioned this several times but no statement from you. Check your Internet Zone too, maybe lower restrictions i.e. lower security level. I've already mentioned this several times but no statement from you. Clear SSL State and Personal information once again. I've already mentioned it above. Did you try to access MU by disabling MalwareBytes and firewall completely? I've already mentioned this but no statement from you. I do this list for you to be sure you haven't missed one of them. When you reply to this do it in the way item 1 checked and so on. So I know what is done and what has to be done. If none of necessary steps was missed you would be able to access MU without any problems. So what the hell is missing? Check it!

  10. A simple addon ? It's not simple for modern day users , blocking scripts ? Well good luck with that , all those modern bloated websites simply won't work , even if user knows what he's doing. Try to use NoScript here , for example . You won't even be able to leave a comment . And the majority of users won't bother themselves with figuring out what went wrong , they will simply uninstall this extension . I think the devs of NoScript really should make it more simple-user friendly , add some templates for example , like light / mid / heavy privacy. Even though I like your comment in general , I don't think Linux is a "user-friendly" system. And it's bloated with spying as well . Just install a fresh Linux and see the connections it's making right away .

  11. I think he means that low power PSUs usually have a shorter lifespan because of the high load , for example caps in 650w PSU will last longer than in 350-400w under the same load. And yes , they get hotter , hence the capacitors will be worn out more quickly . Low-power PSUs have more problems with broken capacitors because they usually stuffed with 85 degrees caps and these will be off pretty quickly. There are some exceptions , of course , like Delta and FSP (I mean the old ones , not the newer cheaply made) .

  13. You did it for Vista too ? Perhaps someone knows how to change the white background in folders without installing any themes , just the colour ?
