I don't have time for thorough testing, but FF 137 x64 compiled with patches by e3kskoy7wqk https://github.com/e3kskoy7wqk/Firefox-for-windows-7 works runs on Vista with the extended kernel dated March 9, 2023. It only requires the api-ms-core-win-synch-l1-2-0.dll library from Windows 10 (I used from compilation 10240) and osver.ini, which in my case looks like this. @feodor2 I assume you mean this error which occurs when clicking onto the button Settings: Right? In any case, clicking this button leads to this error shown above in the console, and the Connection Settings page can't be opened.

Here ( link ) is a v127 that is supposed to work on Vista with the extended kernel. I do not run Vista or extended kernels but I have ran this browser in Win10. In fact, it actually dethroned my Official Ungoogled v122 on Win10 because it scores higher on "not everybody trusts" benchmark scores. On my system, Official Ungoogled v122 scores 156 thru 162, this v127 scores 204 thru 211 [Speedometer 2.1]. I've since found an even better ungoogled fork v131 ( link ) [scores 208 thru 214, basically within margin of error but is a "newer" engine] but that one is "OT" for this thread, just citing for reference.

None, those can't be trusted in testing your hardware. I had several cases where my RAM passed all tests with flying colours, running from there, then failed with booting Windows.

What exactly you didn't like in my reply? Why do you integrate USB3 into an ISO for a 20 years old DDR2 LGA775 machine? It doesn't have them! So, my advice is to take the original Vista or 7 ISO and try to install so you would be sure your disk is fine. BEFORE you proceed with XP.

Is this question somehow inconvenient? I'm just curious, nothing more. I'm trying to broaden my future browser path. One example, CatsXP supported XP up to Chrome 87 (or so), Chrome 87 is far more advanced than FF 68, yet CatsXP had a fully working sandbox under XP, how so? And CatsXP still has a working sandbox under Vista.

And may I kindly ask where you want to open tabs if the tab bar is turned off? That does not really make sense. Tabs are opened horizontally or maybe vertically by using an extension. That's the way this browser works. If you need more space to read a web page, you can use the full screen mode with the F11 key. I know that for example in New Moon 28 you can toggle the visibility of the tab bar but I never used or needed it. BTW, most features of the legacy browsers can also be retrofitted in Mypal 68 with the help of userscripts with the extensions *.uc.js or *.css. When I am back on my desktop computer, I will check whether KB2686509 was installed in my system or not. @we3fan FYI, KB2686509 contains the file kblChecker.dll and is described as a Keyboard Layout Check. It was installed in my system on 21.07.2012.

Generally, I would tend to agree to your suggestion but in my case that would only be a measure if all alternatives failed. My Windows XP partition is very complex and full of special settings. It has grown over years and setting it all up again would also take years if I could remember everything perfectly. The current error only affects this particular program Quick Startup, so considering reinstalling is not really an option for me. BTW, this affected partition was created in 2004. Since then, I have never had to perform a new installation on this computer. I have a sophisticated imaging system and can revert to an older state at any time. However, according to my nature, I am interested in what the actual problem is. I like to solve all problems myself in order to have full control and to constantly expand my knowledge. Many errors are of a recurring nature, and a new installation would only be a temporary solution. I have a large archive of problem solutions that specifically affect Windows XP. So I can fix these errors very quickly. Some error solutions are designed by me and cannot be found on the Internet.

@feodor2 I already tested different websites in your new pre-release. My Windows XP hardware is very old and logically weak. Therefore, I notice every little change in the speed of page loading. Your current pre-release loads all pages much faster. Everything is much smoother. I am thrilled.

May be you know why even not 78 but 79 I have overrided minstrictversion to 79 for the fun, and latest ublock 49.2 seems works fine Very good idea! I will also test uBlock Origin 1.49.2 in my installation. If it really works without compatibility problems, that would be a sensation.

@feodor2 Thanks for your reply and observations! When time is available, I will compare the locale files of your latest pre-release with the files of the old German language pack. Then I can clearly see which files and entities have been changed. I did that already for MailNews from scratch and development is still in progress. The old language packs of Thunderbird 52.9 have not been working for many years. Therefore, I know what is to be done to get it working. The only real problem is always the extent of the changes. Unfortunately, it is usually a meticulous and elaborate detail work, and Mypal in English or German is actually the same for me. After comparison I will know more in any case.
