  1. Thanks for your suggestion! I'll try it out later on my Windows XP computer. Since Stylus no longer works in Mypal 68, and Stylish is no longer installed in New Moon 28, I will try to inject the code into the eBay pages via the userContent.css file. No success. This does not do anything. The issue doesn't seem to be related to animations and transitions. Only when blocking ebayimg.map.fastly.net in uBO, the CPU utilisation becomes normal again. But then the page looks unusable like that:

  3. Just for clarification. I know how to prevent URL tracking parameters. But the two profiles I am currently using are actually for testing and developing in New Moon 28 and Mypal 68. Apart from uBO, there is no other protection. And even this content blocker is only configured slightly, as it is not of interest. I test JavaScript and CSS files in these profiles. Mainly things I have created myself. I had searched for something on eBay there weeks ago, and now these pages no longer work as before. No more, no less. Nevertheless, thanks for replying!

  5. My guess is that unity games use the same TEMP folder . I've encountered weird errors and some games won't even launch and/or load the saved settings (graphics quality , etc) . What to do ? Just calm down , wait , relaunch . May resolve itself on it's own in a day or two. Also , unity engine has extensive telemetry and the logs/reports/temp files usually go into the same folder for all games . My observations that all of the above leads to numerous glitches.

  6. AAM - Automatic acoustic management APM - Hard Disk Drive Advanced Power Management The problem: I was annoyed by constant drive clicking (parking head) on my laptop (Intel ICH9M Sata AHCI controller). And I was not alone, judging from many user reports and questions on different forums. The drive in question is Seagate Momentus ST9250827AS. The solution: I tested hdparm and HDDScan, and finally settled for QuietHDD, which suited all my needs. But the little bug was still biting me and wouldn't leave me alone. During one bootlogging session with RegMon (yes, Procmon didn't show it - it either starts later or it was my filters) I discovered... The final and very elegant solution (for me): REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStor\Parameters] "Port0AAM"=dword:000000fe "Port0APM"=dword:000000ff "Port1APM"=dword:000000ff "Port1AAM"=dword:000000fe These values are suitable for my needs - to turn off AAM and APM - get rid of clicking. Someone else might select other values. I used the ones which worked for a long time for me - taken from QuietHDD. Port1* are thrown just in case, since I don't think the DVD drive will mind. Intel Matrix Storage Manager needed (version 8.9.4.1004 but I see no reason it wouldn't work on other versions), tested on XP/2003, might work on other Windows too (but I didn't notice the problem during my brief Vista testing so it's possible it "knows" how to control AAM/APM - or it constantly accesses the HDD so it doesn't have time to park ) In any case, it needs more testing (for other values), if anyone cares. 7. I just quoted the original link which worked much better some weeks ago. FYI, I always use uBlock Origin Legacy for filtering web content in New Moon 28. And in Mypal 68, uBlock Origin. And a few user scripts.

  9. Then try, for example, this link in New Moon 28 and have fun : https://www.ebay.de/itm/186679189985?_trksid=p4247815.c101875.m1851&itmprp=cksum%3A1866791899851d87f28e6f894355904105bfee689f19|enc%3AAQAJAAABgEnLatTXWXNAKPRnYtxVTXN2rJD11TMrqd%2Bc4NcqE%2BNGk6ejyqiKoKTZm%2BWiG7rLUKnmQT96yLmgza78VpCainYj%2Fcd7BbF%2F3JO7HSXt2n3iFYDbns8rSMT0idXbcmlMHWKniLK2o5tYYPmM8KWpVo95tWt2nTiQXMqmKRIMl5gAplMB1Ggx6kVqfXRetLAgGAr8tj3qIQFVusM3w2%2FTbqJcbms5AWlMLjBh33IT1VukCGrNibKsT%2F0qkwEeKrJ%2BqRhZKo%2F7BwNoK%2FJG9Di5oc8nbRdyqLnSmvEepcz27hw1plzGYkK3M%2FLS204Xl8d%2B%2BtIjQvpPKMqk7tOaYfRxOxqTc3Phjio2VBw5s0TdzIIxxR%2BteWen1ewuCZGgHTJtZr6usyBSJzML5fV2jMBQPa7DWTgyDixtoE50pm%2FEDlHegBefzvpwr4gPu1TxWSReqif%2BmyZ7w1jSjGESSDRCREZYTF84m9YVByxPQYOWWIrye4jSHSDhla3R%2B%2FoekGKQpA%3D%3D|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A4247815&itmmeta=01J7YM3GS0ANMV3XSRX87J8ZNZ

  10. The performance was bearable some weeks ago. I assume it is more CSS related. It seems to be a problem with images. If images are disabled by uBO on eBay, the CPU utilisation becomes normal again. BTW, there is a new, images related url in the uBO popup on eBay. Something with "fast". Apart from that, a faster CPU doesn't make the pictures any smaller on eBay in New Moon 28 or Mypal 68. Anyway! This is probably another modern, bells and whistles improvement from eBay for the bin. P.S.: The new, images related URL in the uBO popup on eBay is ebayimg.map.fastly.net.

  11. Here are two screenshots taken from an article on eBay (Germany) in New Moon 28: All images are now much bigger than before. And CPU utilisation remains permanently at 100%.

  12. Such a thing actually does exist. It's called Windows NT 4.0. However, Windows 2000, AKA NT 5.0, seems somewhat better because it still has a similar look and feel (although the "webbified" variant from 98), but includes many of the conveniences that are often taken for granted, such as Device Manager, Plug & Play, full support for USB HIDs (and at least partial support for USB mass storage), etc. NT 4 and earlier never had any of that. Of course, it follows that XP (NT 5.1-5.3) was the best Windows overall (and in my opinion still is, at least as far as the UI is concerned; there's a good reason why it outlasted every other version, having been continuously supported and updated in some form for almost 20 years!) because it took many of 2000's firsts and refined them with new features and even better reliability. 10 and 11 may have full support for modern hardware, but all that spyware junk is just unnecessary (I've read about how people were worried about all the spyware MS was including in Windows all the way back to Windows 98. If only they had known what was to come 15 years later, maybe they wouldn't have complained so much....) c

  14. K-Lite Codec Pack is no longer supported . The last stable and fully working version is 16.6.5 . Tested by me personally . The author claims 16.7.0 should work too , but I had terrible problems with it . For example , chrome page mute function doesn't work , etc.

  16. Your samples (mp3, mp4) play absolutely fine with VLC-3.0.12-win64 on 64-bit Vista without any updates , yes , I have no updates and I have no extended kernel. The test was done on real hardware. Also , tested DTS HD MA files and it plays them fine on my receiver. But louder than the older versions . Suggestion : uninstall updates.

  17. SetThreadErrorMode replace with SetErrorMode , this should do. DisplayConfigGetDeviceInfo = I'm afraid you're outta luck with this one , it's a tough uncle of a bleach , otherwise the game would definitely launch. Perhaps win32 will suggest something too.

  18. TryAcquireSRWLockExclusive can be replaced with AcquireSRWLockExclusive . GetLogicalProcessorInformationEx can be replaced with GetLogicalProcessorInformation. You need to use CFF Explorer. I'm guessing you're familiar with the procedure. If not , just scroll the extended kernel topic back. I've successfully launched the programmes I wanted to launch . Keep in mind , I'm not using the ex-kernel and I don't have it installed. If you encounter another error (the next in the queue) , you need to replace it too, with something similar , or just open the programme you want to launch in the Dependency walker and see all of that it "wants" in advance . This fix works , but not every time , of course.

  19. Smooth-scroll list boxes effects those: And the combo-boxes: The setting which OP is looking for is not exposed in the GUI AFAIK, but may be set in the registry: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "SmoothScroll"=dword:00000000
