The patched wuaueng.dll does not have a digital signature. Therefore, your system has the original, unpatched files meaning the wrong files. Insert the patched one in both folders from outside (boot gor example from an external medium such as Linux or Windows PE)!2 points

Hi all and merry X-mass, I got bored and with the help of @Dixel and some amount of inspiration I sometimes get from @win32, I butchered the latest Opera 96 (110) to make it run on our beloved Vista ! This chinese browser Opera is based on the newest Chrome 110, which is officially supported only on Win 10 +. Also, I forced it to use its native hardware Skia engine 110. (which is now blocked on win 7 by default). For those who still drive their Sd.Kfz.8, Opera 95 and Chrome 109 are the last for win 7, so as of now, win 7 and the extended kernel for Vista are not able to run the 110 Chrome version. Please don't ask me about running it on WIn 7, I don't know (or won't tell) anything. In theory, it's possible for win 7 to run it. But only if you edit the browser code. (which is forbidden). Only Vista related questions. Thanks. Opera EULA says we can't edit their code, so I shall share my hacks/findings with @win32 and maybe he will be able to implement this in his next kernel release, so all of you could run it without the editing hacks.1 point

@WSC4 Compare the hash values of wuaueng.dll to be sure you have the patched one in both folders, System32 and Dllcache!1 point

TBH, I did all the steps of my guide manually. The verification of each step is much easier doing it this way. And keep an eye on SFC! I switched it off in my system, forever.1 point

This is what I said in my post above, literally, and even attached the signed file. I still think it's some odd behaviour of the programme - since @yoltboy01doesn't get that precise error, and to answer your question, yes they still use those stubs, why wouldn't they? I'll tell even more, there was a patch that ports all win10 UCRT functionality to Vista, so one can simply salvage those stubs from there, just a hint.1 point

It would be a problem in the near future, Chrome 110 engine is the bare minimum for modern web, anyways Firefoxx is off-topic.1 point

Ok! I'm going to go a round further now as I'm getting fed up with this nonsense. Obviously @bluebolt is not willing to disclose any meaningful information here and share his knowledge with us in this forum. And that will have its reasons. First of all, here are the facts: The still downloadable online installers don't work anymore. BitDefender must have removed the online sources which these installers need to download. Offline installers are no longer available. All links seem to be removed. In one of @bluebolt's pictures, one can clearly see that a connection to My BitDefender is no longer possible. Here is a quotation from this picture: "My Bitdefender: Could not connect to server" Regarding these facts it is also pretty obvious why @bluebolt only spreads information here that is not really helpful. I assume or, even stronger, I am quite sure that even if such an offline installer exists, a successful activation of a new installation via the user interface won't be possible any longer. The reason for this was provided by @bluebolt himself: No connection to My BitDefender means no login into the user's account which unfortunately is necessary for a successful activation. Therefore, a new activation is no longer possible. I therefore consider BitDefender 1.0.21.1109 obsolete and no longer usable. No entry in my "list of working antimalware, firewall, and other security programs for Windows XP", but at most in the "list of programs that have recently been abandoned", although it actually was abandonded for more than a year. And further information is no longer necessary either, certainly not such pointless information that is not actually intended to help potential users of this program here in the forum.1 point

Nice pictures but unfortunately they don't really help. What we need are details about the installer. I didn't find any offline installer. Any link to a working, full offline installer? The name, size or date of this installer would be helpful, too. Since then, no further information from you! At this point, I would ask you to share your knowledge with us. Any detailed information about this offline installer would be helpful such as name, size, date and version. Even better would be a working download link or, if there is no longer one, an upload link. Thanks in advance! Kind regards, AstroSkipper PS: Due to the lack of a working installer, I added BitDefender 1.0.21.1109 to the list in the third post. @bluebolt I have now asked you twice to share information about a working offline installer for BitDefender 1.0.21.1109. All what you provide are pictures. But pictures can't be installed and tested. I'm glad for you that your old installations are still running and seem to be updated , but unfortunately that doesn't help us at all . Can BitDefender 1.0.21.1109 still be reinstalled in 2023? I personally fear that this is no longer possible. So I ask you a third and then last time to give us information about the offline installer you mentioned in the quoted posts above. Any detailed information about this offline installer would be helpful such as name, size, date and version. Even better would be a working download link or, if there is no longer one, an upload link. Thanks in advance! Kind regards, AstroSkipper1 point

Unfortunately, no good news! I already wrote about WiseVector StopX. Here is my last post: And here is my list of programs that have recently been abandoned: No hope anymore! This program is dead. Sorry to report such bad news! Of course, it might be used for a while if it was already installed. But there are no new definition updates (since January!) which are important to let the program work properly, though. I already uninstalled it completely.1 point

Unfortunately I'm yet not completely immortal, but I'm heading in the right direction. I have my ancestors' spellbok and it works. I'll not go into the detalis, but I already made myself 20 years younger, it's cool, I'm satisfied. My opinion it's very good. As of now, I can only harvest energy (leech) , the subjects need to be not far away. I'm still learning, but the ultimate goal is to take it to another level (like suck the life force). It's yet another one of my hobbies, along with computers , Windows Vista and making new friends. EDIT: maybe I will try to perform it over a distance soon.1 point

1 - Where do you see any type of links to the ready-made kernel at MSFN ? 2 - He asked about ready made links, he wrote "I see no download links for the ported version 96". 3 - No, Opera is NOT Open source, Chromium yes, Opera no. I shared my methods with the several of our members (including win32, legacyfan, that guy who ran away, etc), they were all able to follow my hacks and got it working. But I didn't share anything ready-made, and not going to, esp. considering the enormous amount of hostility I encountered here lately, and you just've seen it yourself .1 point

Why ?!??!?! I'm a customer (so as you!). I have my rights (so as you!). I have the right to know where the product I'm going to use was made. What seems to be the problem here ? If it was made in a hostile country, I choose not to use it due to common sense, safety , love to my own country, not willing to support the enemy, who will use the profits against me/my country. What's wrong with that ? And even if that country is not openly hostile, I still have my right to refuse, simply because I don't like that country (for example). This is guaranteed by the French Constitution and our customer rights (all items in the stores must have a label clearly showing where they were produced).1 point

Like I already wrote many times (in this topic also). They removed any form of accelerated videos on all OSes below win 10, thanks for yet another confirmation. It happened quite some time ago. Sure as Hell it will never work with W7 unless you hack it. I'm talking about the off. chrome, maybe some forks still have that ability, but not Opera.1 point

Is officially banned in the US by the Fed. Gov. for being yet another russian spyware. There was an article on this forum. Being from a friendly NATO country, I choose to trust them. I have this point of view. My take on the weird case is here : https://msfn.org/board/topic/184445-chromium-111-and-112-for-vista7-and-8081-backport/?do=findComment&comment=1239513 How is it any similar to those who have viruses or suspisions ? I see nothing suspisious per se, pretty simple, like I already wrote above. And yeah, it was very rude, unprofessional, they guy definitely lacks the manners. I agree with you. I remember you wrote the new members gotta have some sort of a filter applied, before their postings with their "projects". Polygraph them, I dunno ? lol1 point

It all depends on what you are ready to sacrifice in the end, if you want it without the kernel and have a considerable amount of time at your disposal, then yes, it is possible. Though, I suggest to use the existing kernel and only add my hacks needed for this exact version. It's just faster,@win32 already saved enormous amounts of time for us !1 point

Someone knows what "Level 3 Communications" is ? Chromium browsers love to make these connections . 360 too , of course ! These are quite frequent : 8.238.108.126, 8.238.89.126 Also in this range 8.238.108.0 - 8.238.108.22 /22 Netblock Details - Level 3 Parent, LLC1 point

It feels we have only one government these days .1 point

I use "beta" version , btw. I mean , it is funny how the chinese call the release version of chromium - beta . And you're better off using this "beta" too . Why ? it has less chinese junk stuffed into it. What do you think they do ? Fixing the chrome's engine ? lol1 point

I think I already said earlier , there are plenty of non-chinese IPs . fastly.org , for example, even http connections to several IPs that marked as scam .1 point

1- Everything is in English for me with the "unpack portable command". C) - No such line in my settings at all and everything is in English for me everywhere . P.S. My system language is British English , folks time to use proper English.1 point

Maybe a good idea , but that just would be too easy . It connects to plenty of US owned/located IPs too . Chinese folks use US companies for their dirty spying , no one cares , it's just business , lol . Look at my list , just scroll back.1 point

No kidding ? I shall lose my sleep over this .1 point

That question about IP ranges was already answered (by me) , just scroll back . Yes , version 5 is good. You have to block under firewall/network policy/blocked zones and press "add" IP range.1 point
