@Cocodile, thank you for the information! I had a chance to read the topic soon enough after you posted! A very interesting fact they mentioned, even VPN services are infested with that malicious AppMetrica Yandex API, hundreds of them. We'd have to assume the popular Browsec also has it. No wonder it has so many negative reviews and articles questioning its security and reliability. Such VPN services are definitely not advisable to use on iOS.4 points

And please tell why the link I gave to the article in Financial Times has been removed. Is Financial Times forbidden on this website? Or you removed it by mistake? There was information about them to be the first who discovered the spying Yandex API3 points

This report is about a specific tracker included with a specific API, it's not about all apps in general. Thanks for your individual opinion, but generalisation is not the answer I was looking for. Why did you change the title that was given by the author of the report, and NOT by me? With these changes this topic does not represent the technical matter I wanted to talk about.3 points

Basilisk releases use the date for the version, for example "2023.11.05" is the most recent release of Basilisk. Basilisk release builds are compiled with "export BASILISK_VERSION=1" in the .mozconfig. Internally Basilisk releases present themselves to addons as "52.9.date" rather than just "date". This ensures that Basilisk works with extensions that were developed for Firefox 52. The 52.9.date internal version as well as the date version number comes from the confvars.sh shell script: https://repo.palemoon.org/Basilisk-Dev/Basilisk/src/branch/master/basilisk/confvars.sh You can also set BASILISK_VERSION to a date if you want to specify a date. For example, if you do "export BASILISK_VERSION=2023.12.01" then the Basilisk version number will be 2023.12.01. This functionality is in the above shell script as well. If "export BASILISK_VERSION=1" is not present in the .mozconfig then the version defaults to 52.9.0. This is the reason that Serpent uses 52.9.0 as the release number. 52.9.0 comes from the txt files in the basilisk/config directory:https://repo.palemoon.org/Basilisk-Dev/Basilisk/src/branch/master/basilisk/config3 points

Before 2018 would be the key words here, we'd have to assume they are simply not needed. Just check if you have the latest SHA2 version, like @Cocodile wrote.2 points
-
Usually SSU are installed before SHA2, at least on Vista, could be the same case with 7. Also, we need to assume pre-2018 updates were all superseded and make no sense anymore.2 points

I, as the owner of an iPhone, am worried about this subject, I wonder what other iOS users on the forum think about it.2 points

If you receive this stop code and Windows doesn't boot forward into the OS, try the following resolutions: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/bug-check-0x7b--inaccessible-boot-device2 points

I assume no one has attempted it. And I think there won't be anyone trying that. The only person that could realise such a port is not interested in an x64 build. TBH, I don't believe there is any acute urgency for doing so, either.2 points

You can download only one type of installer from their website which is a 32-bit version. There is no other version.2 points

I am old school. Thus, I prefer to have my tab bar directly below the navigation and bookmarks bar as it was in the older days. Anyone who uses UXP browsers or old Firefox versions will be familiar with the Tab Utilities Phoenix or Tab Mix Plus extensions, which make changing the position of the tab bar in these browsers child's play. Interestingly. there are also Tab Mix Plus versions for the newer Firefox versions. Unfortunately, these do not work with Mypal 68; at least Firefox in version 78 is required.2 points

You should click on Advanced on the last screen and put the IP address only into "Secure", leaving the other ones blank. The Proxy works only with HTTPS.1 point

Problems I noticed with 3.7 beta: - when taskbar is set to auto-hide, clicking the clock hides the taskbar before the flyout is displayed - taskbars on secondary displays are missing the border above Start Menu and notification area in high contrast mode: - installing 3.7 beta in remote desktop session reset my window metrics and high contrast colour settings1 point

For example, SHA-2 (KB4474419-v3) you're trying to install was superseded with this one from 2019. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/2019-sha-2-code-signing-support-requirement-for-windows-and-wsus-64d1c82d-31ee-c273-3930-69a4cde8e64f On Vista it is marked as v4, the same case would be with 7.1 point

Many thanks for the support @Dixel but this library caused another issue. When I launch Opera, it won't come up and crashpad debug log says not a valid win32 app. I downloaded api-ms-win-core-localization-obsolete-l1-2-0.dll and renamed it to api-ms-win-core-localization-l1-2-2.dll and now it seems to be working. Haven't tested youtube/download/upload or MB pages yet but will test and report back. Many thanks to @yoltboy01 @Dixel @mjd79 & @UCyborg for the kind help. You guys rock. Edit: Everything seems to be working normally, except for the scrollbars. When I move the scrollbars to move page up/down, browser gets resized instead.1 point

@WSC4! That's not going to work. Why are you trying to access the url http://update.microsoft.com/? This is not the correct link and will only end in an error page. Did you read the whole documentation? Here is a link: Under point 18, you will find the links you need to call up: http://fe2.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=e or http://fe2.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en&g_sconsumersite=1 But I recommend to read the whole documentation first to avoid further problems. Using this method to access MU/WU means that all components have to be configured 100% correctly. And please note that I have written my instructions mainly for Windows XP 32-bit! This means that a few steps can be skipped under Windows XP 64-bit. But you will realise this if you read everything carefully. Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

It is working! CREGFIX, HIMEMX, PATCHMEM, AHCI Driver (with patcher9x), GeForce 7900 GTX, Delock 89135 USB 2.0 PCI-E x1 card with USB Mouse and USB Audio Card attached. No LAN - too new, no DOS/NDIS2 drivers available. Rebooting doesn't work but Shutdown -> Ctrl+Alt+Del works equally well. Need to run using WIN, rather than automatically, otherwise every second boot fails on AHCI.PDR, weird...1 point

Thanks for advice. And I've read in release history a 64bit soon ...1 point

I'm sorry, I have to disagree, Hard disk Sentinel warns ahead of any failure, especially if we talk about Seagate (which one shouldn't purchase anyway, due to the high failure rate). From my observations, Seagate will fail within several days or weeks after HDD Sentinel showed its warning. One thing to point out, this software does not always know newest HDD models.1 point

The Giant Matrix home page disappeared in 2015. Their last version seems to be 9.0.1 from 2013. I assume that Anti Tracks' VPN feature doesn't work anymore in these days. For me, no problem, I use paid VPN services. In any case, I will check this programme more deeply when I have more time. First, I will add it to my internal list.1 point

Why at least another week? As far as I can see, we have at least more than a month. But I hope we will have much more.1 point

@roytam1 Thanks for your clarification! For me as a freedom-loving person , the whole thing is unimaginable and extremely depressing. Maybe, a cooperation between you and @basilisk-dev really is a way to continue this great browser project in the future. I sincerely hope that things do not take a turn for the worst and that the further development of these fantastic browsers does not have to be discontinued. If I had anywhere near your skills in this area, I would make myself available in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Anyway! Hope dies last.1 point

Hello @roytam1! Breaking the walled internet by using a good VPN service would not work at your location if this unbelievable (from a European perspective) case happens? Or to put it another way, is the use of VPN services allowed or possible at all in Chinese regions whose internet is walled? In any case, I sincerely hope that nothing bad will happen. We appreciate you and your work, and need you here. Your browser editions are legendary, essential and extremely important for users of legacy OSes. Without them, a new dying process of XP and Vista would probably begin. Kindest regards, AstroSkipper1 point

@Egorkaru Your issue is very special, and a solution does not necessarily benefit the general public. Moreover, the tone makes the music. Your error spam here is rather impolite and counterproductive. One polite request is always enough.1 point

Has anyone tried to open a RapidGator link in New Moon 28 the last months? The final captcha doesn't work anymore in the last releases. Doesn't matter which link is selected.1 point

Never used it in an UXP browser! If I wanted to use such Google services, I would open them in a browser on my Android tablet. Google and Android is an endless love.1 point

For installing unsigned web extensions in Serpent 52 and 55 (moebius! ) they have first to be compatible with these browsers. Deleting any files from the folder META-INF of a xpi file does not do anything, and is therefore no solution. Furthermore, only setting the preference xpinstall.signatures.required to false, which is already the default setting in Serpent, is no solution, either. To install such an unsigned web extension permanently (there is no META-INF folder in its archive, or it has been removed) in Serpent, the file manifest.json has to be modified to assign a unique ID to this extension. For testing purpose, I did that in the case of the web extension save-as-ebook 1.4.2 loaded from https://github.com/alexadam/save-as-ebook/tree/master/web-extension which lacks of such an ID in its file manifest.json. After assigning a unique ID to it, I packed the complete extension into a zip file and renamed it to save-as-ebook-1.4.2.xpi. If done, it can be installed then as usual, works as it should and also survives the next browser restart. Without enabling add-on debugging which would only result in a temporary loading of the web extension anyway! As a unique ID, I chose user-save-as-ebook@email.com. Here is a screenshot as a proof: Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point
