  1. Positive news, I noticed when testing my update rollup, in the cross check with WU, the WU / MU works again and no extreme CPU utilization of the process "svchost.exe" generates. A test at the level of December 2017 also showed that this problem no longer exists (no current cumulative update of IE8 manually installed). The WU / MU website is also working reliably again.

  2. it might be worth mentioning Maxthon is still supporting XP and incorporates chromium 61 codes. *** But remember: Maxthon is coded by chinese company, your privacy may not be guaranteed.

  5. But would still not install the updates with automatic updates, there I recommend this anyway with the IE to search so that the user has control if a faulty update is offered.

  6. Not a surprise that it's a Chinese company that supports XP, as Windows XP is still widely used across China. I took a look at it and it looks like Opera (and I don't like Opera xD). Anyway, if they were willing to share the source code, it would be a way easier to backport Chromium 61, but I guess that's never gonna happen.

  9. since extensions compatibility of v28 is not high as v27 at the moment, and there are bugzilla/tenfourfox patches are applicable to v27, I'll try to make some more v27 builds.

  13. I still use Chrome 49 on XP on a daily basis, in addition to Firefox and New Moon. I don't think I've ever had issues with websites. Not bad for a browser that has been unsupported for nearly three years (April 2016).

  14. Advanced Chrome is a Chromium fork that aims to support XP after Chrome 49. The latest version has been released on January 5th this year and is based on Chromium 54.20.6530.0. Unfortunately, that's still too old 'cause right now Google is developing Chrome 70, but still if you are really willing to stick with Chrome, it's better to use Chromium 54 rather than the old official 49. There are a few bugs like when you go to settings it makes a call not available in the kernel but it doesn't crash and when you surf pages with many video contents autoloading (like Facebook) it may run out of memory and crash. Anyway, overall it's still kinda "usable" as long as you spoof it as Chrome 68 on startup. http://browser.taokaizen.com

  15. The standard 27.9.1 builds of New Moon (based on Pale Moon) are still being developed and updated on a near weekly basis: Windows XP 32 bit: https://o.rthost.cf/palemoon/palemoon-27.9.1a1.win32-git-20180811-327e3a476-xpmod.7z Windows XP 64 bit: https://o.rthost.cf/palemoon/palemoon-27.9.1a1.win64-git-20180811-327e3a476-xpmod.7z Directory: https://o.rthost.cf/palemoon/?sort=date&order=desc

  17. You can stop Steam automatic-updates by adding this line (-noverifyfiles) to the Steam shortcut. Just remember to do a full backup of your Steam folder on 31. Dec 2018, so you can keep using the last available version on XP/Vista. You can still login and download games.

  18. Pale Moon v28 just got released and unfortunately it doesn't work on Windows Vista. Well that's it.. the only browster that still worked on Vista is now unsupported as well.. I don't want to give up on Vista though, i hope that it's possible to create a custom version of Pale Moon that works on XP/Vista

  19. so the new gdiplus.dll comes with SSE instructions embedded. keep mf3216.dll and replace gdiplus.dll with older version may work.

  20. POSReady 2009 was, as the name implies, released in 2009, at that time I did not have a cash machine or cash register system where processors were still installed where no SSE could handle. It must also be seen from the side that needs to be to test the updates kept a corresponding hardware. MS does not have to pay attention to the updates for Windows XP Embedded or POSReady 2009 on hardware before 2009, so it is to be assumed that future updates, which we also use for Windows XP, will cause problems for older hardware. For me a more factual explanation for your problem with KB4343674 on your PIII.
