depends on what sort of app it is

some apps can be fooled

msi files be done easily

others can not

go to the kernel update thread that could help you

Some apps don't really require XP, just their installers do. Some apps don't even really require installation.

But as awergh said, it depends on the software product.

I don't think Orca itself runs under the 9x platform.

Msis can be extracted easily with a command line tool called msix

Older Orca 1.x + 2.x versions run ok on all 9x OSes, as far as I am aware.

hmmm... installed KUP v0.27 with unicode support, removed .msi checks for win9x with orca on finereader 8...

installation started but breaks later with 'unable to load unicows.dll' which is available in windows/system and also part of the finereade package.... some ideas someone?

Try to place another copy of unicows.dll in %windir%\system32 [%windir% = usually C\WINDOWS].

Do not delete the one from %windir%\system .

but didn't work for me... same problem... 'cannot load...'
