bigred Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 Hmmm..forgive my ignorance, but I need to ask this question just in case...When you say this latest patch "supercedes" all others for IE....are you saying it's the only one we need? Or are you saying that it needs to be installed last?I have the following list of updates that are installed for IE and Outlook Express, maybe I'm installing updates I don't need?Any help would be appreciated....ECHO Installing Updates for Internet Explorer and Outlook Express...ECHO Installing Update Q816506...start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Hotfixes\q816506.exe /Q:A /R:NECHO Installation SuccessfulECHO.ECHO Installing Update Q813503...start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Hotfixes\q813503.exe /Q:A /R:NECHO Installation SuccessfulECHO.ECHO Installing Update Q811383...start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Hotfixes\q811383.exe /Q:A /R:NECHO Installation SuccessfulECHO.ECHO Installing Update Q813489...start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Hotfixes\q813489.exe /Q:A /R:NECHO Installation SuccessfulECHO.ECHO Installing Update Q330994...start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Hotfixes\q330994.exe /Q:A /R:NECHO Installation SuccessfulECHO.ECHO Installing Update Q814039...start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Hotfixes\q814039.exe /Q:A /R:NECHO Installation SuccessfulECHO.ECHO Installing Update Q824145...start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Hotfixes\q824145.exe /Q:A /R:NECHO Installation SuccessfulECHO.ECHO Installing Update Q832894...start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Hotfixes\Q832894.exe /Q:A /R:NECHO Installation SuccessfulECHO.

ner Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 Hi, does anyone know how to create a user accounts during setup?
Aaron Posted February 3, 2004 Author Posted February 3, 2004 ner - Parts of this page explains how:http://unattended.MSFN.org/xp/autologon.htm
bucketbuster Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 ENU_Q832483_MDAC_x86.EXEMDAC patch didn't get installed....What did I do wrong?This is what I did:I made an mdac.cmd and put it in the \i386\update folder.I also added a single line that says mdac.cmd under [setupHotfixesToRun] in svcpack.inf.I renamed ENU_Q832483_MDAC_x86.EXE to MDAC_TYP.exe and put it in $OEM$\$1\Install\hotfixes folder.This is what my mdac.cmd looks like:start /wait %systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\MDAC_TYP.exe /C:"dahotfix.exe /q /n" /qEXIT
Aaron Posted February 3, 2004 Author Posted February 3, 2004 I don't know why you renamed ENU_Q832483_MDAC_x86.EXE to MDAC_TYP.exe, because ENU_Q832483_MDAC_x86.EXE is an update for MDAC_TYP.exeInstall MDAC, reboot, then install the update. (MDAC from svcpack.inf then the Update on first logon)
ner Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 I am having a problem with windows setup not installing my hotfixes from the svcpack.ini fileSetup takes note of the winnt.sif files (works ok)Setup does not install the hotfixes from svcpack.ini and does not install/setup my user account.Ok this is a copy of my svcpack.ini:-[Version] Signature="$Windows NT$"MajorVersion=5MinorVersion=1BuildNumber=2600[setupData]CatalogSubDir="\i386\svcpack"[ProductCatalogsToInstall][setupHotfixesToRun]Q826939.EXE /Q /N /Z /OQ330994.EXE /Q:A /R:NJS56NEN.EXE /Q:A /R:NQ823182.EXE /Q /N /Z /OQ824105.EXE /Q /N /Z /OQ824141.EXE /Q /N /Z /OQ832894.EXE /Q:A /R:NQ825119.EXE /Q /N /Z /OQ828035.exe /Q /N /Z /O Q811114.EXE /Q /N /Z /OQ814995.EXE /Q /N /Z /OQ820291.EXE /Q /N /Z /OQ821253.EXE /Q /N /Z /OQ822603.EXE /Q /N /Z /OQ829558.EXE /Q /N /Z /OQ816093.EXE /Q /N /Z /OQ828026.EXE /Q /N /Z /ODX9NTopk.exeQCHAIN.EXEI have placed this into the DOSNT.INI file:-[Optionalsecdirs]svcpackIf i copy the svcpack.ini to a cmd bat file, all updates work, so i think i may be missing something to do with telling setup to install my service packs....I created the user account files and placed them in the $OEM$ folder, as detailed in the link given above... Any ideas!nick
hysel Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 Hi, does anyone know how to create a user accounts during setup?you can use my guid herehttp://www.MSFN.org/board/index.php?showtopic=14587
ner Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 @hyselthank you, thats a great help, can i add your file to my main.cmd file?
Aaron Posted February 4, 2004 Author Posted February 4, 2004 ner, you've named your svcpack file wrong, it should be inf not ini. That's why Windows doesn't install your hotfixes. Make sure you've deleted svcpack.in_ as well from the i386 folder.
ner Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 @AaronXPthanks, i have now renamed to svcpack.inf and deleted the svcpack.ini file, i have also deleted the svcpack.in_ as well, i can see another file called svcpack.dl_ should i also delete this?
