Windows Live Messenger 8.5.1238.0601 is Out ;)

I'm sorry to inform you that there will not be an update from me for this release due to the lack of highspeed internet. I am using dialup for the next 2-3 months. If during that time, this happens to go FINAL, I will make an effort to release an update, with a new editting tutorial.

Ops, I'm sad to hear such news, 2 to 3 months, it's ages man

god be with ya ;)

shark already posted instructions on how to do an AIP of messenger so anyone can make their own patched install without any problems.

@shark: that's bad man, sorry...

@elajua

I see, I'll try to do my AIP

@Shark

the link for Orca in the tutorial rtf file is down

maybe you can replace with this one

URL REMOVED - please do not post URL's leading to my repositories.

This action will lead to massive leeching and the ultimate shutdown of the repositories permanently

Shark I went ahead and updated your Editable WLM 8.5 BETA (until you get off dialup) with the latest MSP (MSI patch) from the Microsoft Update Website, I grabed it from "%WinDir%\SoftwareDistribution\Download\fcc64ce2be28a1556a0e19610ad7a737\MsnMsgs_rootw.cab" and slipstreamed it into the your admin live messenger editable installer and Microsoft Update and Add Remove Programs shows it as v8.5.1238.0601 100% updated

I slipstreamed it kinda like you do with Office 2003 msp updates and it worked... I used this switch:

msiexec /p MsnMsgs_rootw.msp /a wlm85.msi /qb

Obsolete

P.S. Will you soon update the tutorial to show how you changed the Start Menu shortcut?

I did discover a few obsolete files in the installer (it does not cause any issues but you can delete them to save space)

fsshext.8.5.1235.0517.dll
msgrapp.8.5.1235.0517.dll
msgsc.8.5.1235.0517.dll
msgslang.8.5.1235.0517.dll
psmsong.8.5.1235.0517.dll

Will update the installer soon

Why not make one without ads and without the rest of the crap?

A-Patch, I'm sure you guys know it :)

http://apatch.org/downloads.php

Ok, I have downloaded the latest beta from here

I unpacked it and added my patched msn 8.5.

How do I create the installer?

What guide does fully work with msn 8.5?

I would like to install it without Dr Watson

Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DW

The attached file is my set, what I remove in WLM 8.5 beta1 ...

IrfCore_set.zip

because everyone's opinion of what to remove and not remove differs. This is released with generic files so you can replace the files within the WinRAR installer very easily with your own patched files and not be bothered by what someone else feels should be patched.

If you wish to modify the msi installer to remove these items, by all means , go ahead.

You do NOT have to unpack it... Just Right Click on the EXE and select Open With WinRAR

Go into the folders and drag and drop the 4 patched files in their respective directories and close
