ceez
zup peeps,I have a case fan that I am going to place on the back of my case near the cpu. Should this fan blow the air in or out of the case? I would assume "in" since there are no other places to place a fan for air circulation(like on the lower front of the case).thkzceez
ripken204
have the air going out of the case, you should also consider drilling a hole in the front or side of the case for an air input, or get a new case. Bigbrit
Fully agree with Ripken204Air should always go out of the case. Most cases have a slot at the bottom (plastic) front of the case, this may have to be enlarged to gain the the maximum air flow.
Thai3g_Eclipse
The preferred fan placements for optimal cooling would be to have fans to draw cool air in from the front and side, and have one in the back to expell all the circulated warm air out. If you only have one spot to put the fan at the rear of the case, you would want to use it as an exhaust fan, to displace all the hot air generated from the CPU heatsink out of the case. ripken204
yep, that is true. negative pressue is definetly better than positive. ceez-definetly consider drilling a hole for an intake fan, it will help out soo much.
Thai3g_Eclipse
Here's a very in-depth explanation of air cooling: http://www.ocforums.com/showpost.php?p=557007&postcount=
ceez
@ripken204...drilling holes in case not my idea of fun...more of like making a mess out of the case! @Thai3g_Eclipse, thanks for that link, i'll look into it.

ripken204
well full would be the best but it would be loud, try medium for now and if u need any more then go ahead
sven
whoa jeeva, thats a lot of fans. i only have 3 +1 cpu and my pc runs at about 30 celsius.
jeeva
yeah, but with all them at full speed, I run my AMD Athlon 3000+ with 2.5 GHz. very stable if you underclock your DDR to 266 or buy DDR550, the last one is VERY expensive!
Andromeda43
I have nine fans in my PC. Two per each of my three HD's.Two in my 500w PSU and of course one on my CPU.I still leave the case OFF for better air flow. The main thing is to keep your PC away from the floor to keep it clean.Cheers!
