MDGx
Please, remove OLEDLG.DLL version 5.00.2195.7114 from the Unofficial OLE Automation Update, MDGx. I DID find a problem with it and that it breaks the ability to insert OLE objects into documents when using Wordpad and/or ALL MS Office apps like Word/Excel/Powerpoint and third party apps on Windows 9x/ME/NT4 OSes.To reproduce this problem, open Wordpad (or MS Word or Corel WordPerfect), click on Insert and click on Object. It will do NOTHING when it is supposed to display the Insert Object dialog box. After I restored the OLEDLG.DLL file with the original one (either the Win98se or WinME version) the Insert Object dialog box will appear after clicking on Insert, then choosing Object. Thanks for testing.Done.Replaced OLEDLG.DLL 5.00.2195.7114 with older build 5.0.1601.0 from WinME.Should work ok with all Win9x editions. Please test to make sure.* Unofficial Windows 98/98 SP1/98 SE/ME OLE Automation Libraries (DLLs) 2.40.4528 OLEAUT32.DLL, OLEDLG.DLL, OLEPRO32.DLL + STDOLE2.TLB Update:http://support.microsoft.com/?id=259403Direct download [512 KB]:http://www.mdgx.com/files/OLEUP.EXEHTH
MDGx
Is the Root Certificates Update good for IE5x on Win95 (OSR2)?Here in this thread it's specified as being for IE5/6/7 on 98/98 SP1/98 SE/ME, and on MDGx's site for 98 and upwards, while erpdude's site specifies the previous update as being for 9x, 2000, ME & NT4.The crucial component is that a version of IE 5/6/7 is present, so that the update should be OK for IE5x on Win95. Is that right?(Thanks)Theoretically the roots update should install on all Win9x editions with MS IE 4/5/6 installed, including Win95, but I don't have any of those OSes installed anymore, so I can't test.If anyone has Windows 95, 95a OSR1, 95B OSR 2.0/2.1 or 95C OSR 2.5 please test and post here results.Thanks. After applying the update, I again exported the registry, and the size had increased (in this case by 22.1 KB).

I'm feeling a lot better now than I did earlier this week since I got a cold from my cousin.

MDGx
I was wondering if you could add this old english font to the TTFPAKAgain, please understand that this package includes only fonts that can be downloaded/installed from M$ programs, updates, packs that can be found on the internet etc.TTFPAK does not include fonts that are only on setup/install CD-ROMs, or distributed solely by commercial/shareware software. If I would to add other [3rd party, free] fonts to TTFPAK, I should actually add more than 100 fonts, which [as you may have figured out] would add a lot to the size of the executable [TTFPAK is already ~ 4 MB].And the purpose of this pack is to install only [newer/updated] fonts needed by the OS and/or OS components, like MS IE/OE, 3rd party web browsers etc.HTH

PsycoUnc
-latest OLEUP has problem (w/winME):-after reboot, during DOS posting, "windows could not update file %1 to file %2" --exactly as it displayed...?-didn't have time to debug (frankly, I've grown weary of wondering if these occasionally buggy "updates" are causing more corruption than help, rarely bother with w98 or ME anymore now that I've finally got previously-hated XP tweaked very well plus a recent cpu upgrade to p4 2.53ghz = speedy acceptable XP, plus all the other usual problems with trying to stay w/98 or ME; -hopefully this error msg might be sufficient to point ya in the right direction... I thank all you great people for all the help/work with w98/ME, but this previously-devoted w98 lover has finally given up... yes, I sometimes now feel like a traitor, lol, but it just isn't workable anymore... if the ever-lingering stability issues + ever-increasing compatibility issues ever (somehow) get resolved, I'd be ecstatic to return to good ol' 98se/ME...>;] ..(ps: recently, I've been working on many old puters (6 and 7 yr old p3's, etc), and after disabling/yanking all the xp CRAP (and properly upgrading those old systems to pretty much the max that their mobo's can take, and EXTREMELY cheaply, too, < $50 to max out each one), it works quite quickly and well, even on those old slow systems... so the famous "old hardware" reasons for sticking w/98/ME instead of xp just haven't applied to ANY of the old systems I've tried it on... another nail in the coffin, I'm afraid...) For me, its either the CPU is under 350Mhz or the RAM is only 128Mb or below. Your guide of age and/or price is not very precise at all ... the famous "old hardware" reason is famous for a reason ... it's old hardware!! (as defined above). The day i stop coming across useable computers that are on the Win98 side of the above specs is the day i stop installing Win98.I'm not trying to be narky, i was genuinely interested in what other people consider to be the dividing line ... MDGx
@ MDGX:You can create an international version simply omitting OLEDLG.DLL from pack.If you would like to create a French version [translate the scripts: INF, SED + TXT], I can send them to you.But make sure the DLLs you put in are the original French versions from M$.To obtain the French Win2000 OLE fix [where the 4528 files come from: English = http://support.microsoft.com/?id=139071 or French = http://support.microsoft.com/kb/139071/fr ], you could email M$, or Google them. This MSFN thread should help:http://www.msfn.org/board/?showtopic=31579The 4522 file comes from Win2000 SP4, which can be obtained from M$ servers in all available languages:http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downl...rvicepacks/sp4/OLEUP.TXT lists all files and their builds [versions]:Unofficial Windows 95/98/NT4/ME OLE 2.40.4528 UpdateThis Update installs these OLE 2.0 Automation files:* Windows 95/98/ME [%windir% = usually C:\WINDOWS]:%windir%\REGTLIB.EXE 6.00.8191%windir%\SYSTEM\ASYCFILT.DLL 2.40.4528%windir%\SYSTEM\OLEAUT32.DLL 2.40.4522%windir%\SYSTEM\OLEDLG.DLL 5.0.1601.0%windir%\SYSTEM\OLEPRO32.DLL 5.0.4528%windir%\SYSTEM\STDOLE2.TLB 2.40.4528HTH
