Guest Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 (edited) Agreed, boooggy. OOBE doesn't play well with WMP10, at least in Virtual PC. It runs very slow. I'm going to have to try an unattended install next.EDIT:All is well. Still no EULA, WMP10 reports as build 3923, and QFECheck shows all hotfixes are good. I'll update the post above to reflect this. I made no other changes except adding those 2 CAT files which really don't seem to make any difference in functionality as the hotfixes don't list.I'll try a clean(ish) unattended install next.EDIT:Updated post dated 07/07/2005 5:10AM GMThttp://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...ndpost&p=349423 Edited July 9, 2005 by 5eraph
dale5605 Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Boooggy, I'm not sure if I did the registry thing correctly. I added the line for wmv acceleration into the HIVEDEF file in the first addreg section right near the top. I hit enter and put it as the very first line under addreg, is that ok or is there some special place for it?When I go into windows media player options, under the advanced performance area, the video acceleration is still on "use overlays" instead of "high quality mode". So either I did something wrong or it didn't work.Version number 3923 is displaying correctly.
boooggy Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 (edited) dale u did it right. dont know wass up. but i did install the patch manually and still the same thing in wmp options.edit just noticed that under the performance tab the last thing on the page says video acceleration. and the slider is on full acceleration. even the "high quality mode" in advanced is not check. Synomenon Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Ok, so if I use this pack, will WMP10 be FULLY functional? The reason I ask this now is that I see these posts above about the hardware acceleration not working or something and now we have to add something manually to some file?
