jorsak Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 Let me add to that Trojan Hunter. It often identifies the .DLL culprit. A lot of the spyware apps remove the effects of the .dll but don't show you the culprit that causes teh problem. Other than that your list is pretty solid.
CrisCr0ss Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 my choice ad-aware/spybot/firefox (good browser to keep spyware away)/spyware blaster
jorsak Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 hey guys...Don't know if everyone is aware, I just found out, that Spybot seems to have a new version out (1.4RD2). It can be found at:http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2471.htmlI ran an updated version 1.3 scan, cleaned up junk, ran Ad-aware SE cleaned up a lot more junk, then installed Spybot 1.4 and still found another 17 items. Seems to do well detectign a lot of the toolbar junk.Just thought i'd pass it on.
Andrew932 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Adaware, Spyware Doctor free edition, Spy sweeper (Slows down computer) Microsoft Anti-spy and Spyware blaster but I don't have a clue what it's suppose to do-still use it anyway. All good programmes .
Press any key Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 Ad-Aware SESpybot - Search & DestroyMicrosoft AntispywareAll run at the same time! - it does work.. CWShredderSpywareBlaster----And just to clean up..CCleanerRegCleanRegistry Mechanic PS. Tried out Ewido Security Suite for a while - seemed quite good.
whatf Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 Try Webroot SpySweepr 4.0. It is very good!Microsoft AntiSpyware is very good too.
sonu27 Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta1.Also OneCare coming out, that should be good, should have AntiSpyware in it.
Xanin Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Ad-Aware SESpybot - Search & DestroyMicrosoft AntispywareYep I use the same. Kicks a**
Gouki Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 Ad-Aware SE 1.06Spybot 1.4Thats all I use and it does a pretty good job. Firefox is my main browser and I only use IE for Windows Update. That way is one more thing to have a anti-spyware PC.
Claude Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Counterspy is basically MS Antispy Beta but a little better
Martin Zugec Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Exactly. Difference is that Counterspy have already corporate version
GeneralMandible Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 well, your all wrong! MSAS is good, but the spybot and ad-aware(even the pro version) sucks!Try the Xoft, SpyBlaster, Pest patrol, Spysweeper 3.5you get what you pay for if you only want free ones, then.........I don't know what to say to you//SD<{POST_SNAPBACK}> One of these kids is not like the others, One of these kids is doing his own thing.Pest Patrol is good, but it has a lot of false positives. You have to train it not to detect certain things. Spysweeper is really good though...the only one I'd tell people to buy. But if you know what you're doing on the internet, Spybot, Ad-Aware, MSAS with FireFox and antivirus installed along with a good firewall, you won't have a problem. (all free)
Brando569 Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 the best anti spyware proggy is definately Hitman Pro it includes 10 or so spyware programs and completely automates the scanning process! hit start and let it run for liek a half hour and you should be rid of anything! dont worry because the page is in Dutch, the installer is in English
