Obliviator,

Have you tested a complete integration of WMP10 onto an XP installation CD?

Pretty much what I want to do is integrate all but the online store.

Any thoughts?

No, a COMPLETE installation hasnt been tested by me, but the one described in my guide has. I forgot to mention, even with the download, you still need to do steps 7 and 8 ONLY if you dont want to be bothered with a license agreement on WMP10's first run.

Just wondering, how many people sill need the guide with the file uploaded?

The guide is still needed of course.

Because most of us like to do things ourselves, and also non-English localized versions of XP will definitely not be able to use the uploaded file.

if you could expand your comments on the additional files... i.e. how to go about installing them, I'm sure that some of us would get around to testing it...

As others have said, the online store is useless (except to M$) but the other items might be

Not working for me... sends me to the upload page.

PS: You may want to make clear that the pre-made download (when it's working) and the last steps are all that is necessary by breaking it up into two sections

1. Download setup here and extract into your i386 directory.

2. Find HIVEDEF.INF in your i386 folder and open the file.

3. Add this line below [AddReg]:

HKCU,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences","AcceptedPrivacyStatement",0x00010003,1

4. Save the file.

5. And you're finished!

:: OR ::

1. Download WMP10 here.

2. Extract the files using the /C switch.

3. Delete all files except:

asferror.dll

blackbox.dll

CEWMDM.dll

4. Optionally customize your full mode skin http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=34998.

5. Compress all files by running "makecab filename destination".

6. Copy all the cab files into your i386 folder.

7. Find HIVEDEF.INF in your i386 folder and open the file.

8. Add this line below [AddReg]:

HKCU,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences","AcceptedPrivacyStatement",0x00010003,1

9. Save the file.

10. And you're finished!

Just a thought, thanks for setting this up.

The download works, you just have to wait. There's a time indicator that says how many more seconds you have to wait.µ

EDIT: took a look at your MP10SETUP.exe and if I'm right, you still have to edit the HIVEDEF.INF file, right?

Posted (edited)

Maybe useful: there have to be 61 files you add to the I386 folder!

And in the download there are only 60 files... setup_wm.exe is missing! Or maybe this file isn't required?

Err...right on both statements. I'm still deciding the best method for appending text to the hivesys file. I'll add the missing file whenever possible. So anyone with storage space?

Obliviator, using ezshare.de is the best option (20 MB upload limit, no traffic caps).

yousendit.com is another option to consider, but there you have an upper limit of how many times a file can be downloaded.

100webspace.com is a host giving you 100MB of free webspace, but has a download transfer limit (only 2 GB per month).
