August 8, 200422 yr Where are you guys able to get SP2 from? i'm searching all over and no luck, only the beta site, but i have no access to that.

August 8, 200422 yr Thanks for clearing that up, sandman_qc. To re-iterate, the only recomended updates Windows Update shows for me (all non-critical) are:Journal ViewerDotNet Framework 1.1HighMATnp man!Same as GreenMachine... Only these 3 show-up. Windows Messenger WILL appear if you have it disable during install...

August 9, 200422 yr maybe i'm asking a stupid question but... why they didn't include updates like HighMAT Framework or Journal Viewer?? are they "unsecure"??

August 9, 200422 yr Well! I did a clean install with my new unattended SP2 cd and the only fixes available at windowsupadte were these 4 (all in Optionnal):-Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer -Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1-Windows Messenger 4.7-Update for Windows XP HighMAT Support in CD Writing Wizard (KB831240)Note that my cd didnd't contained ANY hotfixes (type 1 and 2)... I emptied the folders before burning the ISO just to see how many I would get at windowsupdate. So there you have it. An unattended SP2 cd containing NO hotfixes whatsoever should give you the same results.I have Slipstreamed SP2 on my unattended and cleaned up my svcpack.inf to load .net & highmat. But windows update still shows them. Is there a different method neededMy svcpack.inf[Version] Signature="$Windows NT$" MajorVersion=5 MinorVersion=2 BuildNumber=2600 [setupData] CatalogSubDir="\i386\svcpack" [setupHotfixesToRun] DOTNETFX.EXE /Q:A /R:N HMTCDW~1.EXE /QN QCHAIN.EXE [ProductCatalogsToInstall] Thanks
August 13, 200422 yr Are you guys sure that DiectX9c is included in SP2? Also I myself don't understand why Microsoft did not include ,NET Framework and Journal Viewer in SP2.
August 13, 200422 yr Are you guys sure that DirectX9c is included in SP2?Yessir!!!!In fact, we are also sure WMP9, and MovieMaker 2.1 are included. I don't understand why Microsoft did not include .NET Framework and Journal Viewer in SP2. I don't know that reason for sure, but it might have something to do with the fact that not everybody who uses XP (Svr2k3 has .NET integrated) has a necessity for those - and those who do, can download/install it themselves.
