Registry Tweaks, Part-1

Recommended Posts

Hmmm. It *may* be possible to perform this by using an inf file. Not that familiar with that particular method. I've been meaning to learn it as well, but there never seems to be enough time in my day.

Anyone clarify if this would work for using system variables (such as %systemdrive%) to tweak the registry via inf file?

If you please I'm looking for a way to do that from Registry:

1- Placing the volume icon in the taskbar from Registry not from the sounds and audio devices properties in the Control Panel.

2- Making the Quick Launch in the task bar to be On.

Thanks alot..............

Hi,

Sorry for boring you again, but I search the registry entries from the XPantispy.

I have found many entries from antispy here in this post, but not all at this time.

I want to add all these entries automaticly with my regtweaks.reg, because this is

easier as starting antispy every time after my unattended installation.

greetings

Hey,

Anyone know the registry tweak to:

"Show Small Icons In Start Menu"

For classic start meun.

BTW these are for the new start menu not the classic start menu:

"Start_LargeMFUIcons"=dword:00000000
"Start_MinMFU"=dword:0000000a

Also how to turn off web addresses auto complete. Got all the other three disabled but that one.

Thanks for any and all help,

Will

I have never had any luck getting small icons in explorer to stick machine-wide with a .reg file. And when I do get it to work it only does so for my user only.

Here is how I got small icons in Explorer (and Internet Explorer) to work machine-wide:

set icon=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

reg add %icon%\SmallIcons /v SmallIcons /t REG_SZ /d yes /f

Save as .cmd (or .bat) and call it via cmdlines.txt or after or whenever (you can even do it right now). It doesn't require a restart.

Not working though I still get:

C:\winxp\$OEM$>ieSmall

C:\winxp\$OEM$>set icon=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

C:\winxp\$OEM$>reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\S

mallIcons /v SmallIcons /t REG_SZ /d yes /f

The operation completed successfully

C:\winxp\$OEM$>

So I restarted and they are still big.
