UCyborg Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Last time I opened my laptop, a cheap Lenovo G50-45 from 2014, I didn't see that battery and it also wasn't mentioned by a service manual I found at the time. So I wonder what keeps the clock going, the regular battery that powers up the laptop?
jaclaz Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Or more likely a cmos battery that you did not see (or took for a capacitor, an inductor or some other electronic component) as it is of the soldered type, *like*: https://www.ebay.it/itm/184402003049 jaclaz 1

UCyborg Posted June 1, 2024 Author Posted June 1, 2024 Possible, who knows where they put it. It's been many since years since the one in my desktop was depleted, I forgot which year it was, but I'm not sure that it lasted 10 years. Just a passing thought: "Hey, the clock is still going in 2024!".

UCyborg Posted June 5, 2024 Author Posted June 5, 2024 Might be hidden beneath the plastic. I'll take a better look when it runs out. I didn't even bother replacing the one in desktop, only removed it when it ran out, every once in a while when I unplug PC during the bad weather, I just put the clock and rest of the BIOS settings back in order afterwards.
