recent Windows update w11.27858 brings new stuff: Start Menu now in blue instead of grey. Is there a way to change colors with standard tools?

On my two desktops running the Canary builds the Start Menu is now green instead of blue.

I fixed the Start Menu color problem on my Canary Build of Windows on my desktop computer. I changed the color setting to a different color then back again and it worked.

Out of curiosity I tried different Start Menu colors and found that the color selected was not always the color I chose. I'm guessing the color selections are being directed to the wrong colors.

Start menu file search doesn't work on my end (only searches programs and Windows settings), I've tried resetting to default values, checking Indexing options in Windows, nothing seems to help. Any ideas? (Default Windows search works)

A moment before we're moving to ver 4xxx of StartAllBack,
I've wanted to report that all of the issues I've reported about back on Sep 2024, aside from the very first one in the list, are still presented even now and hope they could be fixed

Since the last update Windows 11 [version 10.0.26100.4202]

"TaskbarTranslucentEffect"=dword:00000002 not work anymore with segments

Remove the Dynamic segments for continue to use segments
"TaskbarTranslucentEffect"=dword:00000003

With the latest preview of 24h2 (4202), version 3.9bb no longer works, forced to use the latest one with the progress bar completely filled (taskbar) :(

Tried SAB again on new clean installed computer.

All icons on the taskbar are messed up after a RDP session to this computer with fresh os and SAB. Restarting explorer restores the icons in correct way.

Latest Windows 24h2, Latest SAB.

[Bug report]

StartAllBack Version: 3.9.9
Windows 11 Version: 24H2 (OS Build 26100.4061)
PC setup: 2 monitors (both 1440P); monitors (screens) set to sleep after 20 mins; PC set to never sleep; Taskbar style set to Use enhanced classic taskbar.

Bug:
Switching from Windows 11 flyouts to Windows 10 flyouts if possible occasionally causes the emoji picker to pop-out from the primary monitor taskbar as a flyout. Tested emoji picker in Signal and Discord once the issue occurred. The emoji picker appeared where the calendar flyout would normally load. Additionally, selecting any emoji did not cause it to appear in the app being used, and normal keyboard shortcuts within the emoji picker (like using the arrow keys and enter to select an emoji) did not function.

How to (possibly) replicate:

  • Right click on Start Bar.
  • Left click on Properties.
  • Left click on Tray icons.
  • Select the second option (Corner icons open: Windows 10 flyouts if possible).
  • Allow monitors to go to sleep, and optionally leave PC for a while.
  • Wake up monitors (e.g., wiggle mouse etc.).
  • Select the text input section of any app (e.g., Signal, Discord etc.).
  • Use the emoji picker shortcut -- Windows key plus full stop (aka period) key -- to load the emoji picker.
  • If the emoji picker appears on the primary monitor where you'd expect to see the calendar, the issue has been replicated.
    • If not, then something else is afoot, and I'll need to investigate further.

Temporary workaround fix:

  • Right click on Start Bar.
  • Left click on Properties.
  • Left click on Tray icons.
  • Select the first option (Corner icons open: Windows 11 flyouts).
  • Then Select the second option (Corner icons open: Windows 10 flyouts if possible).
  • This should result in the emoji picker working as intended, whilst still restoring the taskbar calendar flyout functionality.

Hello. I recently updated my system from Win 10 to Win 11. I almost immediately installed start all back to get as much of Win 10 interface as possible.

The problem I have are those annoying white frames that appear on my date and time, and sound device choice menu. My keyboard is ok. The tab button is not the problem here.

Does anyone know the fix to this issue?

Thank you.

@Tihiy when I have activated Mica effect on top, the header Windows Explorer text is white on white Background. I have set Light Applications theme and Dark Windows color theme. When I switch off Mica Effect on top the Windows Explorer header is ok. Can it be SAB bug? Or should I investigate elsewhere? Thanks for help.

Win 23H2 22631.5472
SAB 3.9.10.5273

Do not use keyboard to show them. When called by clicking icons on tray, those white frames should not be visible.
