Entering the moment of the mission: Great @AstroSkipper that we are getting slightly newer versions of WSUSSCN2.cab, but not too much. In Office 2003 & 2007 if WSUSSCN2.CAB is used, what happens is that hundreds of files are downloaded, although they do not appear it could be Office updates for all Windows versions, and as I mentioned before, they contain updates for different versions of Office The strange thing is that using the latest version of WSUSSCN2.Cab the updates downloaded are different if WSUS 9.2.6 are executed in XP (2529 updates) and in seven (800 updates). However, thanks to @AstroSkipper, I have proven that using WSUSSCN2.CAB from 2019 the updates downloaded from XP are much less and contain a name that resembles an Office update more than to an update of Windows Seven or 10. Perhaps to limit further to Office 2003 and 2007, a WSUSSCN2.CAB 2017 version should be used, which @AstroSkipper has also facilitated. If with WSUS 11.9.6 the updates for Office 2010 are discharged, the size reaches 13 GIB. So it is easy to think that it not only contains updates for Office 2010. And there is the question of checking if these updates can be installed on Windows XP, in any of the aforementioned Office. The 2007 Office download with WSUSSCN2.CAB from 2019 contains updates of March 2019, when theoretically they have been discontinued since 2017. So yes, it seems impossible. @Cixert Just for testing purposes, I have downloaded all Office 2007 updates again but this time under Windows 10. For this, I used WSUS Offline Update 9.2.6 and the wsusscn2.cab file from 16.07.2018 via Wayback Machine https://web.archive.org/web/20180716122029/http://download.windowsupdate.com/microsoftupdate/v6/wsusscan/wsusscn2.cab due to your hint about End of updates in April 2018. And what shall I say? It is still possible. I checked the generated download log, and I compared the downloded files with my old download archive. Only a few downloads failed which can easily be found via Wayback Machine and added. Here is a list of failed downloads: Quote client\ofc\deu: compatibilitypacksp3-kb2526297-fullfile-de-de.exe FileFormatConverters.exe client\ofc\glb: office2010-kb2553065-fullfile-x86-glb.exe OFV.exe ork.exe client\o2k7\deu: excelviewer2007sp3-kb2526302-fullfile-de-de.exe office2007sp3-kb2526086-fullfile-de-de.exe powerpointviewer2007sp3-kb2526298-fullfile-de-de.exe client\o2k7\glb: convloc2007-kb2760415-fullfile-x86-glb.exe office2007spuninstall.exe The folder o2k7 wasn't created at all as only these 5 files, whose downloads failed, had to be downloaded into this folder. Therefore, I created it and its subfolders, and then copied all files into. All downloaded files seem to be related to Office. However, I can confirm there are many updates downloaded for higher versions than 12.0.xxxx.xxxx which are not targeting Office 2007 but Office 2010 (14.0.xxxx.xxxx), Office 2013 (15.0.xxxx.xxxx) and so on, all inside the folder client\ofc\glb. So, your cited statement seems to be correct: On 8/3/2024 at 3:46 AM, Cixert said: Office 2003-2010 (OFC) "If you select an office product above, Dinamically determined updates for office 2003 - 2010 will be included automatically" But these files could be of course deleted if unwanted as the folder client\ofc\glb only contains 570 - 580 files depending on the used wsusscn2.cab version. It should also be mentioned that I have added the following exclusions to the ExcludeList-ofc.txt file as a precaution: Quote ie9- ie10- ie11- ndp45- ndp46- ndp47- ndp48- windows6.0- windows6.1- windows8- windows8.1- windows10.0- windows11- windows11.0- Anyway! I would suggest to redownload all Office 2007 updates under the above listed conditions. Cheers, AstroSkipper Edited August 4, 2024 by AstroSkipper Update of content 2

The download took place under Windows 10 with WSUS Offline Update 9.2.6, the latest version of the wsusscn2.cab file automatically fetched by WSUS and C++ Libraries and .NET Frameworks enabled. Here are my results: Size of the folder client\cpp: 87.6 MB Size of the folder client\dotnet: 960 MB Size of the folder client\win: 148 MB Size of the folder client\wxp: 735 MB The file ExcludeList-superseded.txt was extracted correctly and automatically copied to the exclude folder. The file size is 1.86 MB (1956216 B). So, no need to manually extract and paste. Strangely, despite exclusions (among others ndp48-), a number of ndp48-kb* files were downloaded and saved in the folder client\dotnet\x86-glb where I had to remove them during the last pause before creating the iso image. No idea why they were saved. But all in all, everything worked perfectly. My download log only shows those files as failed downloads already mentioned in previous posts. I added them during the last pause. And regarding the download of Office 2010 updates, the method of injecting an older version of wsusscn2.cab also worked fine, exactly the way I had planned and hoped. The updates download for XPx64 with .NET was successful by copy/paste ExcludeList-superseded.txt last version. However, I was unable to download the updates for XP x86 with .NET. I tried several times and ExcludeList-superseded.txt was deleted after pasting it during the "pause", leaving it empty or deleted. Both things happened. As I see that this depends on the weather , I decided to postpone it for the next day, when everything worked correctly. It also seems that it depends on chance that the error appears in the log: "failed: Unknown error." For example: 2024-08-02 22:09:12,83 - Info: Downloaded/validated 2 statically defined updates for dotnet x86-glb failed: Unknown error. failed: Unknown error. 2024-08-02 22:15:09,45 - Info: Downloaded/validated 14 statically defined updates for wxp esn failed: Unknown error. failed: Unknown error. And that some downloads are not carried out. The latter is solved by repeating the process again until it works. What is your file numbers? The size changes with the language... Running from XP WSUS 9.2.6, sizes and number of files after completing a few failed downloads and deleting a few invalid ones XP x86 with .NET client\cpp: 41.6 MiB (6 files) client\dotnet: 982 MiB (99 files) client\win: 135 MiB (22 files) client\wxp: 418 MiB (307 files) XP x64 with .NET client\cpp: 46 MiB (6 files) client\dotnet: 1,09 GiB (63 files) client\win: 108 MiB (3 files) client\w2k3-x64: 682 MiB (241 files) The wxp folder size is very different. In the dotnet folder I don't have downloads for NDP48 (only 1.1SP1; 2.0SP2; 3.0SP2; 3.5SP1 and 4.0) I have compared the number of files with my Service Pack 4 for Spanish XP and my list of .NET updates, both manually performed. The files mostly match, with less than 5 files difference, I still don't know which ones, but for example KB824151 and KB841533 that WSUS downloads are obsolete. Edited August 5, 2024 by Cixert 1

BTW, I have always enabled the option for the download of Service Packs. That's probably the reason for the different size of the folder client\wxp compared to yours. And it should be mentioned that Office 2010 is not XP-compatible as this topic here is located in the Windows XP subforum. That's why I downloaded Office 2010 updates with WSUS Offline Update 11.9.6 instead of WSUS Offline Update 9.2.6, BTW. user57 Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 (edited) regarding that tls 1.1/1.2 there are at least 3 named kb-upgrades outcalled that are said to be doing the tls1.1/1.2 install: https://ibb.co/XVmRCHh but as we can see they probaly not, or the tls 1.1/1.2 where already included and it was a while in there so it came also with the other upgrades (what could be - somehow i still have some doubts) in case of Cixert - we certainly can tell that these are reppetiv , also the installers take some discspace (that shown example is only a small part of the entire IE8 packs, but done in 1 step - already in this example that would save 3 times the discspace) also when i did this with a other program the install speed gone up like 100 times, no odd checks, no reppetiv files, no weird double/triple/ect check, no all the time load of self-extrators , no calling up kb1 to 100 times even tho the 3 kb upgrades that i took for the example have 3 different names they are the same pieces - just in a different version "state" Edited August 7, 2024 by user57 1

In latest updates there is “bug” in mso.dll and it has missing imports under XP. So we just added patched mso.dll to solve this issue Best to use UpSourcer as it simply create fully updated Office installation without growing its size drastically! And when you use Unlocked package it contains patched mso.dll so no hangs, just fully updated and working after installation. And I have also patched OS restrictions in osetup.dll so can be installed on 2003 or x64 too without any additional tricks 1
Cixert Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 (edited) I continue checking and clarifying issues... I think it's a good idea to include sigcheck 2.30 in WSUS (last version compatible with XP) despite having certificate checking disabled. When trying to download XP updates from Windows Seven with WSUS 9.2.1, after including sigcheck 2.30, Silverlight was downloaded correctly and new updates were added. When trying the same thing in WSUS 9.2.5 and 9.2.6 I haven't seen any change. Silverlight is not downloaded either and I don't see any additional downloads. It's not possible to add sigcheck exe manually, since WSUS overwrites it with the newer version. To do this, you have to replace the second link in StaticDownloadLinks-sysinternals.txt with http://wayback.archive.org/web/20160618051340/http://skwire.dcmembers.com/apps/sigcheckgui/SigcheckGUI.zip It was difficult to find, more info here: https://forums.wsusoffline.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5556 Regarding the virus possibility that they raise in the last post, I have checked with Virus Total that it does not have viruses. Another thing that surprises me is that the ExcludeList-superseded.txt file has a different size in WSUS 9.2.1 despite being extracted from the latest version of wsusscn2.cab. (1928 kiB in 9.2.1 vs 1911 KiB in 9.2.5 & 9.2.6) On the other hand, for Office 2010 I have added that the 64-bit version is also downloaded. With this option only a few more files are added. The option has to be added manually: https://forums.wsusoffline.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9818 However, comparing the files downloaded without the x86 option and with the x64 option, I see that there is a file that is different and has the same name. @AstroSkipper, can you confirm the size of "visio-x-none_66663ddb7d95b65660099ff4231f635b1aceb8e3.cab". On x86 I have a size of 40,960 KiB and on x64 a size of 182,520 KiB EDIT: There is no need to check, the .CAB file is corrupted and the error is not in the log. This is why it is good to run WSUS twice before creating the ISO. Edited August 8, 2024 by Cixert
