Windows 2000 Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 Hey, so i just installed a fresh copy of Windows XP Home on a 2010 netbook, but I seem to be getting some weird web certificate errors which weren't present before the reinstallation. Is there a way I could fix this issue?

ED_Sln Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 Chrome uses the system's encryption system, so you need to install update KB4467770 and the latest update for IE8, and then enable support, as described in this article https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4467770/update-to-enable-tls-1-1-and-tls-1-2-as-secure-protocols-on-winhttp This will solve the problem of opening most sites using TLS 1.1 and 1.2. But if this does not help, then we need ProxHTTPSProxy. 1

ED_Sln Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 You need to add a registry key, then they can be installed. On 3/20/2013 at 8:28 AM, glnz said: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\PosReady] "Installed"=dword:00000001 and POSReady2009 Updates will install on XP + Windows Update [then] shows the updates for POSReady 2009 1
Windows 2000 Posted May 26, 2020 Author Posted May 26, 2020 After adding the registry, the updates installed, but there doesn't seem to be any difference.
dencorso Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 What did you expect? Fireworks? Did you update the windows certificates with @heinoganda's certificates updater v.1.6? 2
ED_Sln Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 Did you configure the registry after installing the updates as described in this article? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4467770/update-to-enable-tls-1-1-and-tls-1-2-as-secure-protocols-on-winhttp TLS 1.1 and 1.2 should be included in the browser settings, if not enabled, then enable them.
Windows 2000 Posted May 27, 2020 Author Posted May 27, 2020 The certificates updater actually fixed all the certificate problems on the computer. Thanks to everyone who tried to help! 1
kuja killer Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 Hey there, i dont know if this is related to certificates or the TLS 1.1 and 1.2 specifically or not. but ..does this website work for anyone in internet explorer 8 ?? It was just fine always forever... but only now since about a week ago...it no longer ever loads in IE 8 :( it's just fine in firefox and chrome though. https://dogasu.bulbagarden.net/ I do have the TLS 1.1 and 1.2 update and enabled, tried enablinig them but it wouldn't load. Always "page cant be displayed" and i even tried "exporting" the certificate into a file using firefox, then imported it into IE 8's "trusted" certificate thing, but that didn't help.

Always "page cant be displayed" This site has switched to TLS 1.3. Or to the combined mode 1.3 and 1.2, but in this case, 1.2 uses encryption that is not available in XP.
kuja killer Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 (edited) Dang that sucks. i've visited that site for 10+ years every every couple days or so... So cant ever view it in IE anymore for now on since this TLS 1.3 doesnt exist for XP ? ..dang. ok.. Edited May 28, 2020 by kuja killer

There is no support 1.3, there is only what those updates give. But you can make support using HTTPSProxy. It will decrypt the traffic and forward it to the browser.
