Cheers, AstroSkipper Expand thanks for the download link @AstroSkipper! You're welcome! I did a deeper research in terms of Comodo Antivirus under Windows XP one month ago. 2
legacyfan Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 and I am on linux now but will continue my daily research here (antivirus compatibility is essential) 1

Bitdefender Free Antivirus under Windows XP was abandonded years before. Edited March 24, 2023 by AstroSkipper 3
legacyfan Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 clamwin seems like the better option to any of these (it's open source I think) and supports everything down to windows 95 https://clamwin.com/ 2

This is a pity as I have a lifetime premium license. Have a look into Malwarebytes's forum and you will see! Even their support could not help me in the end! 2

I had these problems at that time when Avast was my antivirus program under Windows XP. As you know, I already uninstalled it, deleted all remnants of Avast and cleaned my system partition completely. Maybe, I'll give Malwarebytes Premium for Windows 3.5.1.2522 another try one day. legacyfan Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 there's also McAfee if you want a malware filled antivirus https://www.mcafee.com/consumer/en-us/landing-page/direct/aff/mtp-family/desktop/mcafee-total-protection.html?culture=en-us&SID=aqjvtqbvx7.2&cjevent=32e83222ca5911ed80a400530a1eba23&affid=1494&csrc=cj&csrcl2=Webselenese+Ltd&ccoe=direct&ccoel2=am&ccstype=partnerlinks_32e83222ca5911ed80a400530a1eba23&CID=242012&PID=8950379&cctype=desktop&prgt=lc (I don't reccomend this one unless it's really needed)

I've been using Malwarebytes Premium on XP for several years now. It's not free, but it just works. Strange how people have very different experiences with these programs on their systems. I never had any problem installing MB Premium on either of my XP systems, but my main desktop absolutely refused to work with Avast or AVG! They would install fine, but the main service refused to start, and I never found out why this was. I too spent ages on their forums and with their technical support, and apart for the vague 'some people do have this problem on XP' no answer was ever found. 3
