Hmm, Microsoft does not seem to give any information about current ReFS limitations. I need to make some tests with it.

For now you can use it, by removing checks via WinNTSeup.ini

Thanks, @JFX, now the program works, but system reboots with BSOD 0xc0000001 c:\windows\system32\winload.exe is missing. Actually the file is there.

have u tried rebooting after deleting \boot and bootmgr.exe and doing a "bcdboot x:\windows /s x:\"?

I guess it's UEFI only, there is no ReFS read support in the BIOS version of bootmgr.

@JFX, you are right - ReFS is incompatible with MBR

then I think I shall forget about ReFS, for all intents and purposes. Furthermore I have read many more reviews against it than for it so far. I relinquish uefi for regular miniwinning inasmuch as I find it easier to see what is going on in the booting process within a bios environment. uefi looks more cryptic to me.  

What a shame the most recent systems no longer envisage bios.

No, all files that are fully stored on local disk are still being captured.
Only files with attribute FILE_ATTRIBUTE_RECALL_ON_DATA_ACCESS are skipped.

It's not possible to capture them. These files will be loaded from cloud storage during first read access.
For online VSS capture this wouldn't work because the snapshot is read-only and
for offline capture the cloud provider is not running to transfer the data.

Beta 8 adds ReFS support for Windows 11 Dev builds.
ReFS version should be displayed (you need at least the current version 3.9).
Format dialog will show this option regardless of the Windows edition, no need for Enterprise or Professional Workstation.

tx again, jfx. does this version have other features too relative to version 7, or is it just fine to stay with version 7 for those like me who do not need ReFS?

There are no other features, it's mainly a bug fix version.

Listen hear u, pundits and laymen, tx 2 my boisterous supervision and virgus' (or virgus's, as u like it) painstaking toil, we r in a position 2 announce, and provide, a few scripts that can speed up the pre-miniwin customization process, which would namely get from a couple of hours (in my case, for instance) down to a couple of minutes! The good thing is that these batch files are in and of themselves customizable, which could Cater for each and every1's tastes. Should any1 happen to be interested in the scripts, pls do not hesitate to ask virgus or me.
