Opera 10.63

PROBLEMCHYLD

Recommended Posts

Just to clarify the thread title and the original post, Opera 10.54 is the last that works on unmodified Windows 98, not 10.60.

10.60 will only work with KernelEx installed.

:)

Opera 10.60 definitely works with KernelEx, and could be the same for next versions :D

Only problem I think, is we can't run last Java Runtime Environment with it. :(

I could fix this I think. Please try this new skin:

It is really perfect! :thumbup

The Start bar is exactly the same than before. Thanks a lot! :thumbup:thumbup:thumbup

You should propose this fixed skin at the Opera forum, in the thread on Opera & Windows 98 : http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=633722&t=1278699879&page=1

the thing is I have Opera 10.60 installed but it doesn't work correctly

so what I did was replace the Opera.dll from 10.54 and got it working without KernelEx.

So if you guys want me to change the title I will. dencorso do you think you can use your downgrade technique

for opera.dll 10.60 so we can replace it with 10.54. Sorry for the misunderstanding any/everyone.

No problem PC.

:)

The thing is, if you replace the opera.dll file from 10.60 with the one from 10.54, I don't think you've actually got Opera 10.60 anymore, as we said here.

Looking at the relative file sizes between the dll and the exe, it does seem likely that most of the code is in the dll.

If you want to run 10.60 properly, why not just install KernelEx?

I've recently done that, and everything is fine.

:)

I agree with Dave-H. KernelEx is the solution for using Opera above 10.54, and it's a pretty good one, at that.

By now, in fact, more and more new programs (and new versions of familiar programs) will require KernelEx.

Now, since you asked, no, downversioning ought not to work in this case, because new functionality *is* actually needed... new functionality that KernelEx actually provides.

All previous links have been replaced by this one I am opening a topic about it now so it's my last post about it in this thread:

  • 1 year later...

I thought the updated MSIMG32 from WinME would fix the shadow problems around certain UI elements. Is that not the case?

Does everyone else get the dialogs seemingly unskinned?

And actually, can anyone suggest a simple/clean skin? I prefer the v9.2 look, but all the "Classic" skins don't get everything aligned right, or add spacing in certain places.
