  1. I got 600+ kB/s with that test. My 3G modem can only go up to ~1.03 MB/s anyway. Not sure about the max upload speed but I've seen 400-500 kB/s in the connection meter. I'm not going to experiment anytime soon - too many variables. As long as Dropbox works I'll use it when/if needed. So seeding or not is your choice. You're welcome. It's been just a hobby to me. Started learning AHK by myself after finding One hour software by Skrommel, years ago. I thought "better build your own software than hunt for [crippled] freeware or cr4cks for commercial software". And it was fun, regardless of the amount of work involved. :) I left those pictures there as a reminder to me and anyone else. I still have all the hardware captured there, just lost the will to play with it, for various reasons. My 98SE machine is a Soyo SY-6VBA133 with a 667MHz CPU, 512MB PC133 SDRAM, GeForce4 Ti4200-AGP8x. Back in 2007-2009 I had two 14" CRT monitors hooked to it; here at house there's only a 17" TFT. This machine has been extremely faithful to me and it still works after a ~2 year break when its PSU was broken. Unfortunately all standards - especially network-related - have changed and there would be way too much work involved only to try to open a web page or connect to an IM service. Would still have value for offline tasks though. Such feature was present in Total Commander like forever (menu > Commands > Run DOS). The only time I was ever using Explorer was when copying/unpacking TotCmd after a fresh OS installation. ;) With the right assortment of plug-ins one can safely ditch quite a bunch of external software. :) Oh and yeah, it does sport a Refresh button too. ;)
  2. Linux uses UTF-8 by default for file and folder names, this could be an issue in Win9x. Or I may be rambling. I know for a fact that certain trackers are being screened by the ISPs following requests from certain media thugs. This could also be an issue. First torrent contains a base folder called public where all subfolders and files are located. Second torrent contains a single archive called public_work.7z. The contents of the public folder were archived through Total Commander under Wine, using a 7-zip plug-in that I updated myself years ago and that worked fine under Win98SE. We should probably stick to the Dropbox link for now and if necessary start a separate thread on torrent compatibility between Win9x/WinNT+/Linux.
  3. See screenshot. My upload capability is somewhere around 700-800kB/s according to the network meter applet, so there shouldn't be a problem on my side unless I did something wrong when creating torrents. Personally I'm not going to try other clients, qBittorrent and Transmission as alternative should be enough. Your warning could be useful to others though, thanks.
  4. Unfortunately I don't know much about torrents, seeding and so on -- I "grew up" - so to speak - with eMule, and the eD2k network was different. Lots of old, rare files there at the time; torrents were not built for that.
  5. You're welcome. They have been shared publicly for quite a while on CloudMe but they blocked my access when GDPR came into the picture so I deleted my account there. Feel free to share them for as long as you like, at least the AHK scripts built by me - the others (AHK 1.0, Leaks, 7-zip, Miranda IM etc) may have their own terms and conditions but I didn't check that thoroughly. I just installed Dropbox and created an account there only for this file. Maybe I'll keep using it for any future updates to the scripts, if I ever find the spare time and drive. The link will remain available until I decide otherwise; hopefully it won't rot. Please use any client you like, I used to use an old FlashGet back on 98SE and XP. On Mint, qBittorrent looks kinda similar to it, maybe that's why I stayed with it. I see 8/13 peers for the two files but no activity whatsoever; could very well be my fault, I'm not yet familiar with this stuff. I've always shared what I created, it's my belief that everything in life should be free, but that would only be possible in an ideal world which we're extremely far from, unfortunately. Still, I do what I can towards that goal. Enjoy! :)
  6. I'm not sure what I see anymore. Glad it worked one way or another. Please be careful when running those scripts. Do NOT run myAV on anything higher than XP - it will delete extensionless files in the root drive, rendering the system unbootable! Also please check licenses for code and binaries that do not belong to me. Oh, I removed the torrent files from previous comments, they would've created confusion. If you really want to keep seeding you may post Magnet links instead.
  7. Please try this link: dropbox
  8. Theoretically yes, both of them, but strangely enough I can't see myself as a seeder. I didn't add any trackers in the torrent file though, no idea which ones to add. But I've seen trackerless torrents before. Maybe your IP range is being screened somewhere along the way. I do have a couple other uploads right now so something works. I even restarted qBittorrent, and for a brief moment I saw a connection attempt from Taiwan. But nothing seems to stick. :(
  9. Yes, it should be unique. No idea who could be the others - may even be a bug in the application considering I'm running an unstable build. I built another torrent file, this time it's only one archive inside (118.7MB), maybe it'll work. Please note there's other code and binaries inside that do not belong to me, such as Leaks (binaries are built by me but the code is M$'s), 7-zip, Miranda IM, so do check any licences pertaining to them.
  10. Could be a Linux/UTF8 issue or something in qBittorrent. It was the first time for me building a torrent file so it could also be my fault. Did you manage to get anything at all? I see 2 seeders and 3 leechers but none are actually connected/downloading. My connection is quite weird too (an USB 3G/HSUPA modem that acts like a LAN!) so anything can go wrong.
  11. Oh, that's an idea I hadn't thought about. I just built a torrent file out of the scripts folder (it also contains some extras, ~124MB all in all). Hope it's OK to attach it here. File removed, added a Dropbox link a few comments below. I did try to pack something recently using password and filename encryption but sending failed just as well so I gave up. Torrents are a good idea though. I vaguely remember Tihiy saying this got fixed in some tool of his - maybe RP9 or something else. On my old 98SE CPU usage was accurate but I did have a lot of enhancements there including RP 9.7.2.
  12. You're both welcome. And sorry for the bugs and missing functionality, I never seem to finish what I started. And then real life takes over. Yeah, there's a handful of reasons, not only Linux. But it doesn't matter. If I ever find a suitable way to share all my "toys" again I'll let you all know. Until then, be well.
  13. What in this world makes sense anymore? I did try all possible tricks, in time - especially with gmail it's impossible, they must have all possible decryption algorithms together with backdoors. Linux or Windows, it doesn't matter - it's all on the mail server side. But since I don't have the ANSI compiled executables (on this machine at least) and neither recipient's e-mail address, it's a moot point. The old AHK 1.0 can be downloaded from the official AutoHotkey download page, the compiler is included, and the scripts can also be launched as-is through a double-click. If an update() error occurs, please copy the update.ahk script from the NetMeterEx/Lib folder to C:/Program Files/AutoHotkey/Lib (create the Lib folder if it doesn't exist).
  14. Unfortunately it doesn't work, at least not with all providers. Stumbled into this too many times to even attempt it again. And I don't even have a recent version of the script compiled with the old ANSI AHK. So it's best to self-compile from the sources. As a bonus here's the sources to a RAM/swap/CPU/system load monitoring script that I've been using back on 98SE and XP; this one can be compiled on Unicode AHK v1.1 too (for Win2000+): MemPanel1101_src.7z
  15. A few years ago I developed such thing in AutoHotkey. It's not perfect but it did work in an updated 98SE as well as in XP and 7. Now I'm on Linux and dunno how current version works, if at all. Also dunno how to send you an executable, considering how anal all mail providers have become, and the fact that I no longer have an online repository that I could link to. Maybe attaching the source code here would work, but you'd have to install the old AHK version (1.0.48.05) and compile the script yourself or run it as is. There may be problems when the settings file doesn't exist, I never got around to fix that issue. If you need more help you may contact me privately. NetMeterEx1509-15011_src.7z
  16. I'm extremely new at both Win10 and theming but I really wish there still were 32bit versions of AeroGlass for 1809 and higher. I'm struggling (in VirtualBox) with such 32bit 1809 to get it usable and regardless of my efforts there is no transparency or glow anywhere with any [supposedly] glass theme I found so far. Obviously using AeroGlass 1.5.3 since there's no higher version available for 32bit Win10. Theme files succesfully patched with UltraUxThemePatcher 3.6.1. So, is there any chance of getting back the 32bit builds, please?
  17. Better try a 9x-compatible version of GOM Player with the '11 Inspirat' skin (similar to WMP11).
  18. @Wunderbar98: All fine and dandy but you may be missing one detail: IE6 is not simply an (outdated) browser - some of the critical 98/ME system libraries have only been updated through the release of IE6/SP1, they were never available standalone from MS. As such certain applications may present glitches or errors if those libraries have not been updated. I strongly suggest to have IE6 installed along with its SP1 and if afraid of malicious/unwanted activation just rename IEXPLORE.EXE to something else so it would not be inadvertently launched by stupid/malicious applications.
  19. Apparently no good deed remains unpunished. Why do I even bother…
  20. I suppose you mean the link to Release 11 in first post. Indeed the link is broken, most likely due to recent board software update. Here's the correct link: Release 11 I'm in the process of gathering all possible releases (complete with links) and hosting them at my repository for backup purposes and easier retrieval. Hopefully I'll finish by tonight (UTC+2). Check the KernelEx folder sometime later.
  21. Not sure if soporific here which maintained the 98 version of the AP was a member of the 2000/XP AP team but that doesn't matter now anyway. He did do a great job with AP98 though, for those times. I also have AP installed on my main machine but that's for a reason: system was installed in 2006 and AP was being actively developed when I got here. I also got involved a little, at some point. It was probably a random choice, maybe biased by the fact that it also contained a great deal of drivers that made it easier for many people. In time I've manually updated a lot of system files while installing separate packages such as NUSB and others, then KernelEx. At this point my system is probably very similar to what latest uSP3 does to a vanilla system. So I'll just stick with "if it ain't broken, don't fix it". For a vanilla install I'd surely go with uSP3 now.
  22. I don't know who Spark Post are, I don't trust them and I don't want them (or anybody else, for that matter) to count my clicks and habits and whatnot. That's why I employ Redirect Cleaner in Pale Moon and my own AHK script for WordPress mail notifications. I could probably crop up a script for this one as well [EDIT: done] but this redirection habit became an obsession lately. Thanks for looking into it.
  23. Thanks, got it done in the mean time, after some trouble with non-arriving confirmation e-mails. I now have another issue though: why all links in the notification e-mails - and especially external links - are being redirected/bounced through a third-party service (Spark Post)? I don't like clicking blindly to land who-knows-where, nor do I want to open an extra board page (limited download quota) just to see where the real links in the posts point to. Internet nowadays became much too similar to city roads: tarmac is too smooth and cars are too fast so let's dump some speed limiters every quarter mile or so, just because we can.
  24. To restore registry one can do the following: - (re)boot to plain DOS - at the command prompt type scanreg /restore and press Enter A selection of registry backups should be presented to choose from, according to the saved dates. Upon selecting (usually the most recent that worked) and choosing 'Restore', a reboot should bring the machine back to the state it was at that date. When the machine appears to work correctly for a few sessions you may invoke scanreg /backup at a command prompt to save current registry as a backup. This command can be added to startup to be performed automatically each boot, on a healthy system. In regard to the choice above the logical answer would be the latter, because it contains many recent updated files that do not exist in AP, considering AP development halted in 2008 while uSP3 is still being worked on AFAIK. For a (relatively) modern hardware uSP3 would be preferrable over AP. Make sure you read the documentation carefully and follow the directions. If you have the possibility, take a backup image of your system partition now and store it somewhere safe (on another HDD partition, preferrably, to have it handy in case it has to be restored, since at some point the USB may not be available for restoration if you save it on a Flash drive). Oh and whatever you do, do not mix AP2007/2008 with uSP3. Good luck!
  25. A preview performs a quick scan, most likely at a very low resolution, because it's being performed really fast compared to a real scan at 300, 600 or 1200dpi (yeah, I've done that too!) However, after the preview the software halts. Whereas on a real scan the image data, which is consistently larger, is being sent to an image-processing application chosen by the user but not before being saved as a bitmap in My Pictures. Therefore there may be a problem with the saving of the file to HDD (not enough space? bad bitmap filter? something else?) or with the application supposed to load and display the image (not existing? corrupted installation? bad settings?). There may also be a (GDI?) problem due to a system file mismatch (any unofficial system files update?). And as far as I know, the Lexmark scanner spawns a peculiar rtlxxx.exe file (forgot its real name) located in the Temp folder that may well be a virus (long time ago I read something about such virus file) or just an unfortunate name clash, so if you have a resident antivirus you might want to temporarily disable it while scanning. No other ideas so far.
