  1. Put in your driver floppy at the F6 prompt
  2. You could try mountvol, assuming you have something attached to that sata port, but it's not a safe way of doing this Why do you need to do this? If it's to hide one disk from another, you can get bootmanagers to do that for you, like GAG or XOSL.
  3. Looks like I was thinking of PreLogon not PeShell, not sure if it this is suitable for WinPE: http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=12907
  4. "End users can use the following media for their downgrade: Volume Licensing media (provided the end user has a Volume Licensing agreement), retail (FPP), or system builder hologram CD (provided the software is acquired in accordance with the Microsoft OEM System Builder License). " http://download.microsoft.com/download/d/2...grade_chart.doc I guess it'll need phone activation if a non-vlk key is re-used, it looks like they don't like your oembios method
  5. You could use PeShell for a boot password, but that wouldn't stop people reading the CD from another OS. Best to stick your programs, images etc in a truecrypt volume or similar, and then mount that manually with a password after booting.
  6. This will disable lots of services, but needs a reboot, make sure you back up first... http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=64873&hl=
  7. Not critical to the installation, but will allow it to activate without any phone calls. If you want to keep some of the bundled stuff, I'd try just uninstalling the bits you don't need. You could use autoruns and process explorer from sysinternals to see what is running, and reduce the load that way. Alternatively, you might find the HP support site allows you to download the software individually, and you could add the bits you need on to a clean install.
  8. Yeah, but the advantage here is that they have been tested and are hopefully working
  9. You could try using a driverpack instead from www.ubcd4win.com
  10. $39.95 on www.agnitum.com - do you have a link?
  11. As of this time, I personally would say Comodo and Outpost Pro. Outpost Pro isn't free I've used Outpost Free before on xp, I think it was "not tested or recommended" rather than incompatible, but was good enough for outgoing control (behind a NAT router).
  12. in user accounts, restrict the machines they can log in to?
  13. Word isn't the ideal tool for the job, if the list is plain text I'd try gsar http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/gsar.htm or you could use excel, splitting the columns on the < and > during import
  14. I'd just ctrl-z straight after word capitalises the letters.
  15. If you are restarting the pc not the router, I don't think it can be a slap from your ISP.
  16. Either set up maq-101 with a static IP, or set up the dhcp server to give it the same address every time?
  17. http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downl...pporttools.mspx 10mb download for a 49kb file
  18. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=82638&hl= You'll need an OEM xp cd, and key
  19. use %systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a to check if it's activated
  20. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=82638&hl= I've not tried it with vmware, but it works on real hardware
  21. Good call - I just tried mountvol c: /d and yikes, it let me
  22. You could try mountvol or devcon, but neither will actually power down the device.
  23. you wont see it without "/interactive"
