  1. Yup, you had me test it for you a loooooong time ago (you were making a version that does not require .net 1.1), used it when I had Vista and now with Windows 7 (works like a charm) it only needs mscomctl.ocx activex runtime or one of those
  2. Delete the virtual hd (*.vhd) and virtual manchine (*.vmc) in this folder then re-run the wizard to make a new one "%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows Virtual PC\Virtual Machines"
  3. Sometimes you need to delete and remake yourself another virtual drive
  4. If your laptop came with Windows 7 pre-installed check out your bios slic version, if its 2.0 or 2.1 there are ways to downgrade and even activate a lower copy of Windows (in your case Vista)
  5. Its a FREE video I did on how to backup & integrate drivers, recommended your tool over Driver Genius and other driver backup progies because you rename the inf fine (you don't leave it as oem#.inf)
  6. Run the installer with the /? command-line and it will tell you the switch to extract it Then after you extract lp.cab rename it to something like lp_es-es.cab for example so you know what language it is
  7. Extract the lp.cab from these EXE's: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/08/29/download-windows-7-mui-language-packs-official-32-bit-and-64-bit-direct-download-links/
  8. Skip Vista and go with 7 Yea a good idea is to get a Technet or MSDN account, its a little more than the price of a single Vista license and with it you get ALL operating systems to choose from not just one
  9. Yes thats left over from Windows Defender for scanning/updating, but it still wont scan a single file (wish I knew how the shell extension does this)
  10. I also mount and the MRT Version to the <mount_folder>\windows\system32\config\software hive reg load HKLM\WAIK \mount\windows\system32\config\software reg add HKLM\WAIK\Microsoft\RemovalTools\MRT /v Version /t REG_SZ /d 76D836AA-5D94-4374-BCBF-17F825177898 /f The MRT Version is also added after you run mrt.exe and do a quick scan, you can do this with FirstLogonCommands or SetupComplete.cmd and run mrt.exe /q (which makes it do a quick scan)
  11. Its super! only thing that sucks is no command line scanning, cant get it to work with live messenger (thats Microsoft for ya)
  12. All you need to do is copy mrt.exe to system32
  13. For a non profit you talk allot about clients, doubt you will get any further help
  14. No hes saying dont slipstream sp3 in a Vista/7 environment because your key may no longer work (KB950722)
  15. At first glance these two hotfixes don't seem to be post sp3 KB873339 KB888302 BTW nLite supports a large number of hotfixes but it cannot integrate them all, id say conservatively about 87% of XP hotfixes are supported
  16. ricktendo

    KB979099

If you look inside you will see they are not the same as other hotfixes, they have msi based installers inside BTW just KB979099 will suffice, you don't have to use both just the newest one (it supersedes the older one)
  17. imageres.dll
  18. I also have similar hardware and I also get 2.0 and it aint slow AMD Athlon 3700+ 1 GB of ram Geforce FX 5200 (still supports aero with Vista driver) 80 GB hdd Like I said, upgrade your ram and hdd and you are more than set to run Windows 7
  19. Windows 7 should run just fine on it, even with 512 GB of ram and 30 GB hdd and since you say you will be increasing both it will run even better You might even be able to get aero with your gfx card
  20. DriverBackup is good, Driver Genius, DriverMax almost and almost all other driver update software can backup your drivers
  21. Go to "%AppData%\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar", right click the Windows Explorer shortcut and change the icon (it may also be because you have not refreshed your icon cache)
  22. The option in the unattended section you are looking for are these ones: Provide defaults to show all including the EULA (need to press F8) Prompt repair (the name says it all)
  23. Download packages.xls from the same page as install_wim_tweak.exe, it will give you a good idea what features are connected
  24. Those are hidden, to stop you from being able to remove them but you can use a tool called install_wim_tweak.exe to unhide them for removal Get it: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=136837 More: http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=7384
  25. I made some "how to" waik vids that might help http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?/to...1-added-part-3/
