  1. There are 2 ideas. 1, you can try using PXE or 2, see if you can add the "press a key to boot to" to the USB key, similar to what is done for CDs. I imagine you are present at each machine when you are installing them?
  2. You certainly can register DLLs. Regsvr32 is present and does work. I use it in my PE script on my PXE server.
  3. We try not to promote the 'banned' group.
  4. First, you should link to the English version here, since this is an English language website. Second, such posts belong here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=4
  5. Try searching for the following: "skype embed code" "msn messenger embed code"
  6. Is this a new computer? I usually see graphical problems (without seeing a picture) based upon memory support, bad memory, or bad video cards. Here is an example of "memory support" graphic corruption. This would only happen when 2 sticks of memory were used on a specific motherboard, but it worked normally with only one:
  7. Once we get the OA2.1 cert done, I'd like to upgrade my workstation at work to 7. Right now it runs Server 2003.
  8. In addition to what Cluberti said about the court system... It also differs by state. Let's take New York for example. How it works is that speeding is a state law, not a local law. It doesn't matter if you get pulled over by a local, county or state officer, they write the state ticket. But here's the trick, they set your court appointment for the town or city you received the ticket in. So for example, let's say I get a speeding ticket in Buffalo (which I never have), the officer writes a state ticket which says to report to the Buffalo court building or office or whatever. Now, if I were to outright pay for the fine instead of contesting the ticket, you either pay at the office indicated on the ticket, or send a check in the mail to the address indicated. If done this way, that money will go to New York State. Now if I contest the ticket in the Buffalo court, the option is to plead guilty to a lower offense, such as a parking ticket. Now, yes the court system is very busy like Cluberti says, so 99% of the time the judge will approve the parking ticket. Another reason for this is because the lower offense (speeding is the lowest state law) is actually paid to the municipality, so that money would go to Buffalo instead. There is an additional reason why pleading down a ticket is accepted, besides where the money goes. Each division (city/town/etc) gets New York State benefits based on a tier system of how many arrests, convictions, tickets, etc are done. So basically, they get more benefits from the State if they plead speeding tickets down to parking tickets than if they didn't. Those benefits may include grants, upgrades to buildings, cars, equipment, additional employment benefits, vacation, etc. So its like a scam in the US, or at least in NY.
  9. Welcome to the MSFN! This method has been attempted many times and so far no one has been able to do it the way you are trying to. Capturing an XP install right after Textmode is run (during that reboot) will definately fail. Your best option is to call an unattended XP install from PE. Also you failed to state which version of PE you are using. But check out this thread: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=88270
  10. Answer found here, unfortunately... So I need to find another way to dynamically add drivers and run a program during WDS Unattend. Any ideas? I didn't really want to have to put drivers into the INSTALL.WIM...
  11. It might be easier to just use the PE that comes with the WAIK. Check IcemanND's guide that is stickied for info.
  12. Does your images or GP use the Domain Logon welcome message? This is typically contained in the registry: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc939716.aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc939712.aspx There is another key you can set too but I can't remember what it is.
  13. Rick James - Super Freak finally I know the name of one of these blasted songs on the radio.
  14. Its always good to salut the admin on your first post.
  15. Welcome to the MSFN!
  16. Is there a difference between the 7rc PE and the 7 WAIK PE?
  17. Wow - and I'm sure I'd choose the sound of server fans over Rod Stewart every time! Has radio in Buffalo gotten that bad? Yes, I have found other cities radio to be better for the most part. I don't usually listen to the radio except for talk or sports radio. But at work we have to have the easy listening station on or else the older women that work there start complaining. Recently I got back at them and put Yakety Sacks on loop and they flipped out! KMFDM - Lund end Eled
  18. What size video files, what before and after formats, how much RAM on PC? Using XP Home or Pro? In Device Manager, how many processes?
  19. Such programs are often known as bots. They are mostly common in MMORPG and other RPGs like Diablo II. A lot of people use AutoIT to create bots for games, because of its pixel identification ability. And these tools are available free or as open source in most cases. However, since using bots or third-party programs (primarily) in multiplayer games is against the terms of the license agreement, forums even like AutoIT are usually blacklisted as being related to warez/cracks by popular groups. For example, on the Barracuda web filter appliance, the AutoIT forum is blocked by default. Getting yourself known as being in the botting industry may affect you adversly in this way also. So be careful.
  20. My first suggestion is that you need to verify that your slowness issue is actually being caused by the network, and not by applications running either on the clients or the servers. Also, you want to make sure your Server OS can handle multicasting, which will help immensly, if for example, your servers are running Server 2003, which are unicast only. Second, you need to verify that all of the interfaces (clients and servers) are all using gigabit NICs inside them. And if you upgrade to gigabit, you are going to want to upgrade all your cabling to Category 6, as its likely you are still running Cat5 or Cat5e.
  21. Normal testing is complete at this point, as I may have found the cause of the problem. Our regular XP unattend (which I used to create the recovery image) uses a WINBOM.INI file that OOBE may be processing incorrectly. I cannot post this file, but I have my two log files that I have been compiling. Full statistics report of recovery partition behaviour. Product: MSI Wind Netbook MS-N0111X-044US OS: Windows XP Pro SP2 sysprepped partition: Windows PE 2.1 with custom apps RAM: 1GB SODIMM HDD: Toshiba Mobile 160GB Different scenarios outlined below: Situation 1 - Windows does not error out before welcome - the system partition size is correct - the recovery partition is not hidden and is assigned a drive letter - I then hide the partition and reboot into recovery Situation 2 - Fatal Error: Windows is unable to start because the registry could not be updated. - Recovery partition is hidden - System partition is 61GB in PE/Diskpart - WINBOM file is created in sysprep, see winbomfiles.txt Situation 3 - Windows does not error out. - the system partition is 61GB in Windows - the recovery partition is hidden ### Timeline of events. 06-09-2009 (earlier) reflected situation 1 06-09-2009 15:45 - situation 3 06-09-2009 16:04 - situation 3 06-10-2009 08:55 - situation 3 06-10-2009 09:10 - situation 2 06-10-2009 09:57 - situation 2 UPDATE: modifying recovery image to remove information from the WINBOM.INI file. and winbomfiles.txt so far: WINBOM FILE #1 WINBOM FILE #2 Factory is using the following WinBOM.ini file: C:\sysprep\WINBOM.INI ERROR: Factory state "Preparing for automatic logon" failed. 22. I had once, out of necessity, switched careers from software to sales. Working in sales didn't work too well for me, while I was good at it, I am not a person that is motivated by money. So I have been back in software again, but that short time working in sales (it was aggressive outside sales, no telemarketing or sitting behind a desk) helped me gain leadership and business intelligence skills I didn't have before. So sometimes you just need a short vacation!
  23. If by time limits and WGA giving you problems, and the fact that its very difficult to understand you, I can only think of a couple of scenarios: 1. You need to reactivate Windows 2. You are using a demo or RC version of Windows 3. You are using a pirated copy of Windows and you were tricked into installing WGA If you are sure it isn't a case of #2 or #3, you can run this command. It will either step you through activation or tell you it is already. You do not need internet access for this command, but if you don't then you'll need your COA handy and have to call the Microsoft phone number it shows you on the screen. oobe/msoobe /a
  24. Now that you turned off everything, you can go into msconfig again and put checkmarks in just the things you want to load, or any Microsoft item. It may have a checkbox that hides Microsoft items.
  25. Here are some related articles. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/818171 I can't see how this could be related. For one, I am not using RTM, but SP2. Also this only happens 33% of the time, so it doesn't explain the times when it works. And most articles about this error seem related to sysprep, however the actual problem is definately in the (re)deployment phase.
