Windows XP/Vista/ Spooler subsystem encountered a problem
Tripredacus replied to Deploysrs's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Try to find out what versions of Acrobat the PDFs were made in. Compare the working ones and the non-working ones. Also compare it with the version of the Reader you are using. Sometimes Acrobat will give you problems if your default Printer isn't an actual printer. For example, if your default Printer is the Distiller or the Office Image Writer. Also I think you can have multiple versions of Acrobat Reader installed, so you may need to use an older version for some files. -

2003 Server NIC support for PXE?
Tripredacus replied to Tripredacus's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
NIC is RTL8111, Server is 2003 Standard x86. The NIC is onboard the MSI G31M3-F V2. http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=prodmbsp...od_no=1573#menu Basically the thing is, it works for me but not for the customer. At some point in the past, it didn't work for me and I did something to fix it, but I can't remember what it was. -
OK. Did you know that Newsid changes the SID everywhere on the computer EXCEPT the SID attached to the logon account on a Scheduled Task? This means that if you have existing tasks on a system, then run NEWSID, the tasks will not be able to execute. This means that after the SID is changed, you need to execute a command(s) like this (you can use a batch file too) c:\windows\system32\schtasks /CHANGE /tn TASK_NAME_1 /ru Administrator /rp password

I'm trying to tackle a problem with a customer that I had once experienced before. It concerns the fact that a client can't do a PXE boot to a 2003 Server with DHCP and a relay to a separate WDS. Typically the error PXE-E52, deals with subnets/ip ranges/other security, but sometimes it doesn't. I can't remember how I fixed my problem, which occurred slightly after I joined this site. Long time ago yes? Anyways, for some reason I have this idea stuck in my head that I had to do something to the server in order for it to respond to some clients. Like a support file, or a driver. But I can't even find the info in a search anywhere, and unfortunately I did not post about it here either. Any ideas?

accurate dl/ul readings, cable isp shared bandwidth
Tripredacus replied to runLoganrun's topic in Networks and the Internet
As far as actual speed vs garauntee speed, it can only be truly tested within the ISPs network. Normally this is tested by uploading a file and downloading a file via FTP to another computer. This other computer must be accessable (see traceroute) without leaving the ISP's network. If you use CLI FTP, turning on bin and hash, it will give you the speed. Files should also be large, like 5MB or so. Online speed test sites use very small files to do the tests, and they are not accurate this way. You need to know your average speed, which requires a larger file. You will notice if you download something, it starts out pretty fast and then slows down to a certain speed. This is why small files should never be used for speed tests. -
Is it possible that you have multiple machines with the same SID on them?

Looking For A FORUM or Page With EASY VLITE INSTRUCTIONS

This would be the best place to start: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=153 -
That's ok! You are not alone.

I'm not going to quote you. If you didn't know, MSFN gets high rank on google because we have so many visits. Posting your email address in a thread isn't a good idea. Also, advertising your site should be only done here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=4 Otherwise, have a good time.

				Help: I have a RAID 0 error.
Tripredacus replied to MarkJohnson's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Why is your system volume on a RAID0? RAID1 or JBOD for system volume only, I recommend. -
Typically, using the chipset drivers will work, regardless of the board. So use the Intel drivers for your chipset, and repeat for whoever makes the rest of your components. Also if you are using XP or Vista, try looking at DriverPacks.net. It has some obscure stuff. There are at least 5 downloads and only video and audio are very large. I use them for things I can't figure out for the most part.

				Home Premium unattended
Tripredacus replied to MAVERICKS CHOICE's topic in Unattended Windows Vista/Server 2008
I have nothing to add, except that I doubt the computer manufacturer, or hardware, has anything to do with it. I personally use separate XMLs for the different versions. I didn't make those XMLs so I don't know if there are any differences. Perhaps you check the differences between that and Ultimate? I know some things are not the same, like some GPOs for example or (in some versions) GPOs altogether. I don't get to install Home Premium .... Oh when you said HP, did you mean "Home Premium" or "Hewlett Packard?" anyways, Home Premium is rare for me, its usually Home Basic or Business for the most part. -
Go into the server properties and uncheck the box to use an unattend file. Alternatively, you can use a base unattend file for the server (WDSClientUnattend) and attach a separate unattend file to the install image. For reference: Here is my WDSClientUnattend.xml http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=134633 Here is my unattend.xml (attached to the install image) http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&...st&p=846753 NOTE: the second link, the unattend is invalid and did not work. I have a working version now.

Just wondering. Why do you have the DHCP lease time set so short? This causes a lot of unneeded broadcasting. When 50% of the lease time has passed, the client will attempt to renew the lease with the original DHCP server. And any time the client boots and the lease is 50% or more passed, the client will attempt to renew the lease... When I worked OPs at an ISP, we used this. The longest an interface should be active on that specific network (depending on certain conditions) would be 1 hour.

how to watch folder for new files and print them automatically
Tripredacus replied to zsero's topic in Windows XP
You can also consider scripting a program to do this. One example would be AutoIT. Not sure if KIX can do that. You'd just have to make sure that you move the file to another folder after printing. You wouldn't want to delete it, because if the printer was out of paper you'd be hosed. -
If this is done, you can't make the recovery media from the Start Menu anymore. But he should be able to from the partition itself.

I only install Vista, the drivers and OfficeReady.
