  1. There is a similar thread here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=137822
  2. QFT. This applies to not only browser but OS wars. However, there is still the issue that older code made to work with IE6 and worked perfectly, does not work with newer browsers. For example, IE6 properly renders CSS 1.0 and no browsers since have been able to do so. So, at least, in my mind, IE6 has some development use. Why develop for an outdated browser using an outdated standard? CSS 1.0 is the current standard. Note that Drafts and RFCs are not final versions.
  3. FYI Note if anyone doesn't know. PE Explorer is made by Heaven Tools. It has a 30 day trial period, but in order to use it longer you will need to pay for it.

These files are compressed versions. In order to access them you need to expand them first. You will find EXPAND.EXE in C:\Windows\System32. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888017
  5. Dreamweaver.com does not exist anymore. Adobe finally phased it out since they purchased Macromedia. Dreamweaver as an application is just fine for development, but it has its flaws and limitations like all programs do. Then again, you can even just use Notepad or some other text editor to make a website. I personally use UltraEdit to write my webpages. I used to exclusively use Dreamweaver but now only for layout testing. Secondly, the idea of purchasing website layouts has never sounded like a good idea to me. Firstly, you can get free layouts if you search for them. If you aren't into learning how to write your own websites, you can also just get a CMS. While a lot of CMS are not free, most have a free limited option.
  6. Yes I thought I could play Strife again, but it looks and controls so bad! And like Redneck Rampage, it also uses the Build Engine, so the controls suck with that too!
  7. I hadn't researched it so much, but this makes sense. You need Win7 WAIK to do it. Its not only BartPE that acts this way. Also WinPE for Vista SP1.

  9. No, I personally do not use CCC. I read on other sites that sometimes going to previous versions worked to resolve the errors. Take that as you will.
  10. We have a few unattended forums, as you will see. If you haven't seen this link above, here it is again. It may be of interest. http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/

fiki, in the future try to be more specific. OK Fun time's over.
  14. IIRC, Code 10 in 9x (or all versions) is 10% of the time a bad or incorrect driver, and 90% of the time failed or BIOS disabled hardware.
  15. I've noticed this at work as well, but also at home. My PC at home has a newer version installed somehow, an update that made things a little better, but the one at work doesn't see that update available.
  16. If you want to change anything in the registry, you can use a WinPE CD or the slave drive idea to load the registry hive of the affected system. I mostly use this method to interrupt automation during testing by removing RunOnce commands but you can change anything you need to. If your setting is usually in a CurrentControlSet, you may want to read up on that because it will not appear the same as a loaded hive as if you were viewing it from the host RegEdit.
  17. It may be explorer crashing. Have you checked to see if there is any errors or warnings in Event Viewer?
  18. That website doesn't show me anything. I was wondering if a site like that existed tho. It does not look right on IE 8 Beta 2 (2003), Firefox 3.5 (XP) or Firefox 3.0.10 (2003). See that screenshot I added in my first post to see what it looks like in IE6. I'll try that later! Thanks!
  19. Some malware create hidden blocking keys in the registry that stop programs from opening. Scan for rootkits if you can. This is especially a concern if the programs that can't open are utility programs, but not things like games or productivity software, or things like Calc or Solitaire.
  20. Welcome to the MSFN!
  21. I wanted to revisit an old website design I once made a while back. It was before IE7 came out. I made it in compliance with CSS and also XHTML for certain things. I have CSS v1.0 validation and would have XHTML if I didn't use the shortcuts I have. Anyways, the page displays correctly in IE6 but not Firefox (at that time it was Beta version). It does not display correctly in IE7 or IE8, or any Release version of Firefox. Any idea why not? If you do not have both browsers to test in, here is what it is supposed to look like: 1. main layout and copyright should be centered under the main layout. 2. the menu on the right should be in the box on the right Oh, if you look at it, don't bother cliking any of the links. They will not work. http://tripredacus.net/test/tpx7x/index.php This is how it looks in IE6 if you don't happen to have it. http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k63/Trip...ns/tpx7xie6.jpg
  22. Memtest stopped? The longest I ran memtest for was 3 weeks! ok ok, so I didn't do it on purpose. Someone turned the monitor off and I forgot about it until I needed to move that PC to make space for others.
  23. Verify that you have all updates for .NET Framework, all versions. I seem to recall getting these types of errors before I removed CCC and just went with the driver only package. I'm not sure about your first error, but the second one with "Could not find Type [ATI.ACE.CLI.Component.Wizard.Wizard]" is a library error. Either portions of your CCC program are not all the same version or it a linkage is broken. That link is typically the .NET Framework. I know newer versions of CCC require .NET 3.5 but if you'll need .NET 3.5 SP1 because there are bugs in the first version.
  24. The HP recovery discs are not designed to install onto hardware that is different than what came with the computer. There are different versions of the recovery software. Perhaps you are the one that looks for the data string installed into the hard drive and it won't install for you?
  25. Well look at the "First Mobile Phones" section. Look for footnote 42. One thing about Wikipedia, they always want to cite everything.
