If you are spyware and virus clean, this is my only other response. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555206 This of course presumes you do not have any rootkits or spyware your current software cannot find. For info on better protection, check here: http://wiki.lunarsoft.net/wiki/Anti-Malware_Toolkit

Commands for working with Windows PE 3.0 and the new WAIK
Tripredacus replied to paxamime's topic in Windows PE
I am currently working on a guide for WinPE 3.0. It won't be everything you may want, but it will be a start. -
When your computer loses its connection, try to ping your modem/router. Also see what your IP address is when you can't connect. In addition, check other programs like IMs or see if you can get to google.com using its IP address. For example: http://74.125.45.100/

Since you are new here, I will point you to the rules. More specifically: Second, My Documents opening at the launch of Explorer is commonly caused by malware, or you have a bad link in your Run key, or Startup folder. Check for viruses, spyware and your startups. Any more info you will need to post what OS you have, including architecture and Service Pack.

Adding Network Connectivity & Customizing Windows RE
Tripredacus replied to cave man's topic in Windows PE
It may be possible using OPK Tools and adding the SRT-Package to the PE. -
This is a project thread to create and deploy the WinPE 2.0 GimageX COM based HTA with WinPE 3-4 x64 from WDS. Update: Minimal changes needed for WinPE4 build, see here. I will be using v7.1 version of the program as v9.0 and v9.1 are not functioning enough to use. If anyone wants to try making them work properly, I can add them into this project. See the following resource: http://www.msfn.org/board/17-t97512.html Last available versions Version 7.1 :: download Version 7.3 :: download from SkyDrive Version 7.4 Beta Server HTA :: post First, this is not a tutorial regarding how to set up the WDS on Server 2008. No questions regarding PXE or WDS errors will be permitted in this thread, only ones relating to the creation of the PE and actual use/behaviour of the HTA in the (booted) PE. Some of these instructions may be used to create this on a DVD, CD or a UFD if a network boot is not an option for you. The specifics of converting this to those methods are not permitted. If you have a question relating to this project but falls into the "non-permitted" category (outlined above), please make a new thread and refer to this topic. This tutorial also uses the following constants. The Server being deployed from is Server 2008 Standard x64. I am also using the OPK Tools, and not the Windows AIK. As a result of these two things, the paths used in the examples below may be incorrect in your case. You may be using the AIK, or your program may have been installed into Program Files (x86). You need to be aware of these differences if they apply to you and adjust your commands appropriately. I am also using the RTM version of the OPK Tools for Windows 7 Enterprise/Server 2008 R2. There may be slight differences from the WAIK, or Release Candidate versions that I am not aware of. If a specific command is not working for you, check what you typed and then check to see if the commands I am using are valid for your version.

I believe that if you buy a software product this way, and it comes with the CD Key, but it turns out the seller is still using the key, the seller is at fault and not you. And regarding Microsoft products, you would need to have in your possession the actual COA sticker. The COA is your proof that you are the only one allowed to use the key. It may be more technical than this tho, policy is a complicated and often confusing thing.

That's awesome! Now I dont feel so bad when I tell people I went to college for mainframes!

I don't think so, moving and strifing with keyboard, and aiming with the mouse is possible, the real annoyance is deformed free view up and down this engine makes. Like with Duke Nukem. Strife has Doom controls. So mouse movements equals player movement. Also right click is move forward. This was fine when it came out but now its just confusing. Strife was not Build Engine, sorry if I just jumbled that all together. I should look for my Duke CDs and see if Duke It Out in DC finally works! I never got it to work when I bought it lol.

I have found that most games nowadays only check the video card for system requirements, not anything else. Which was why I could run Oblivion (not Oldblivion) below specs. That in itself is flawed, those installers should at least say "you can run this but it might be choppy". Did I mention that the Crysis demo played just fine but took an hour to load a level/play the movie?

Sometimes I think its less "a clue" but more "a care" about things. I've always been the kind of guy that wants to make things more efficient. Yes Netgear was the place we looked because they are our #1 supplier for networking gear. The other one is CNet and they are garbage. I will do some more research I guess, since my question wasn't directly answered. We basically need a way to keep gigabit clients running at gigabit when 100Mbps clients are on the network. We can get 40% util from the server if all are gigabit, which considering mean limits and SMB is just fine. But running at 1% util when 10/100 clients are present delays us greatly. The servers don't do much either, since this is only for production and not enterprise work. Yes a domain exists (only because WDS requires it) but there is only 1 domain member. The only thing the DC does is DHCP and both servers act as file servers, and there is no internet access. I still remember when MS told us we needed to go to managed switches, but management nods and agrees and does nothing until someone speaks up. And I am that person so I get yelled at for speaking up sometimes!

Create bootable partition from recovery dvds
Tripredacus replied to bish542002's topic in Windows XP
Nice catch Ponch! Ok OP, basically, if you run your recovery CDs and it doesn't put the partition on there, you're going to have to figure it out for yourself. The Recovery Media Creator is not designed to recreate the partition, only make the CD/DVDs needed to reinstall the OS to factory specs. Of course if its a Sony or ARM, I may be wrong. -
Seeing how large that is, having an equal amount of 1u fans would be more powerful.

WinPE x64 nic issues - Broadcom NetXtreme I & II
Tripredacus replied to Jazkal's topic in Windows PE
Broadcom is infamous for using emulated NIC firmware, which has caused many a problem. Where are you getting these Hardware IDs? From Windows? Try running PCISCAN from a DOS boot to see if they turn out different. I've had a heck of a time with some Broadcom (and nVidia) emulated NICs and had to use Ghost instead. Not saying this is your answer but anytime I come across a Broadcom now I just want to go home sick. -
That's all the help you are going to get. http://www.msfn.org/board/booting-minipe-h...pid-882723.html

Yet again I make the request to upgrade the network. Our main issue is that once any certain (uncertain) number of clients running at 100Mbps start using the network, the entire thing drops to 100. Even the gigabit clients, and heck the server drops too. Will using a smart switch be able to keep 100Mbps clients at 100 and Gigabit at Gigabit speeds? The purchasing guy balked at the prices of full-managed switches, but seemed to like the price of the smart switches.

Message From YouTube About IE 6 Browser [Solved]
Tripredacus replied to Monroe's topic in Windows 9x/ME
Please elaborate on this. As far as I know IE6 completely supports CSS 1.0 only if you count some proprietary features. Its an issue found in practice. Refer to this: http://www.msfn.org/board/fix-display-issue-t137717.html Which is about my old website design, which was a CMS I wrote myself before IE7 came out. It worked fine but unfortunately IE7 came out before it was completed. -
Need more infos from you before help can occur. 1. Service Pack? 2. Architecture? 3. Admin rights? 4. Also check event viewer for errors.

MiniXP.... MiniPE? I'm locking this because of these words. If the OP feels this is a problem, the OP can PM me about it.

I have to say that true mouse/free look spoiled me. Yes the Doom and Doom II engine use the mouse to move, and also move with the keyboard. But you can't say only look/shoot with the mouse and move with the keyboard. Also Strife didn't have an option to use Strafe Left/Right instead it was Turn Left/Right. And unfortunately DOSBox didn't emulate it very well in that if I played on the highest difficulty, the game ran way too fast. On easy, it was normal speed. When I played this game when it came out, the only difference between easiest and hardest is that there were more enemies, they were stronger, no difference in speed of the enemies or the player.

5.1 channel subwoofer configure equalizer
Tripredacus replied to rickytheanuj's topic in Hardware Hangout
You will see a HUGE difference between a 5.1 Surround and a 5 Speaker system. I have both of these configs at home, albeit one is hooked to a TV. I have a TV that has a subwoofer hooked to it. That has outputs to 4 speakers, two left and two right. The ports on the speaker say Left Front, Right Front, etc but its just for positioning. It actually doesn't support Surround Sound. This isn't to say it sounds bad, it actually sounds great when watching movies or I do a sound test. My sound test on the TV (for fine tuning) is to put in the PS2 game Black and just let it loop the menu parts. Now there is an insane difference between that and the speakers hooked up to the computer. Of course the TV only has 2 channels (bass and trebel) analog knobs on the front of it. My PC has a SoundBlaster Audigy Gamer PCI and a Creative Inspire (the first one ever) that uses DTS and Dolby 5.1. The SoundBlaster has software that includes ways to modify the channel levels and there is a 12 band graphic equalizer in there too. However the downfall is that the EQ is for all channels out instead of per channel/input/output. I am more used to having more control over my sound, but its good enough so I'm not going to complain. Now if I could only get that Pioneer subwoofer working... Its the size of a minifridge!
