  1. I am fairly certain that the phase used after the boot.wim/WDS process is used is not WinPE. It is Windows Setup. But, technically I believe you aren't supposed to deploy (actually, you do not even mention which OS you are using!) OK so anyways, you aren't supposed to deploy Vista or 7 with this method to every machine. You can, by all means, go for it, but MS documentation (at least what I have) say you use your Unattend install for the Master Image. Hence you only install it once. Then you would use sysprep (and its XML) to redeploy that image to other machines.
  2. Yep, WinPE 1.x uses XP or (possibly) 2003 drivers, WinPE 2.x uses Vista or (possibly) 2008, and WinPE 3.0 needs 7 (or Vista) drivers. Its a very strict little OS sometimes.
  3. Launch the HTA as so: x:\windows\system32\mshta.exe x:\INTERVIEW\INTERVIEW.HTA
  4. Are you using this on a PC or a console?
  5. I wouldn't think there is a setup in there, then again, I've never used the WAIK so I am not certain what the differences are between that and the OPK Tools.
  6. It looks like an error on the page. Here is the correct link: http://www.wpiw.net/downloads/WPI_v7.7.0.rar
  7. I always figured that it all comes down to support. If you use theirs, do you have to pay extra? Is it warranted by them, so if it breaks a year from now will they replace it for free? That's always the risk of buying your own equipment, if its out of warranty, you need to buy another one. I do not know how much the products are, and I don't have AT&T but have worked at ISPs in the past.
  8. THe boot.wim you are using is from a Windows 7 install DVD, not the one created by the WAIK.
  9. Try to be more careful everyone! I removed the attachment, please take your files and open them up first, replace any secret info (like keys, oem info, real/company names) with XXXXXX and then save the file someplace else. Then upload that modified file.
  10. This error does not appear to be related to rebooting or lockup issues, but more so that a program is not functioning properly. There is a lengthy discussion here (this is google cache) where this problem happens on a PC with Vista x64 and an ATI card. As I search the google, I find I've looked up this message before. If you use MSFN search, you also happen across these posts: Another one, topic 137891, unfortunately, I can't find the real URL.
  11. There are many programs you can run to test your hard drive. Certain drives have specific tools available, such as SeaTools for Seagate, WD Tools for Western Digital. Take a look at your Event Viewer and see if you have any suspect errors or warnings in there.
  12. Roger that!
  13. I'm not sure, I never tried. Send a PM to either me or Dencorso.
  14. Do you only have this when visiting this forum?
  15. Be warned! This isn't supposed to happen with USB keys! This is a known behaviour of at least two of the Conficker variants, among other things, so make sure you check for that.
  16. It sounds more like a program is taking priority over Explorer. What kind of resources do you have? - Hard drive free space - total memory - number of processes (look in task manager)
  17. Greetings, I removed the registration code info from your post. Anything that is remotely sensitive, or things pertaining to your account that include hashes or session keys (such as the auth code) should not be publicly posted just in case. I saved your info and hopefully you will get a response soon about your situation.
  18. This is correct. You need to load a registry hive, and select the file on the XP drive. The hives are located in C:\Windows\System32\Config You will want to load the one called SYSTEM. Make sure to unload the hive before closing regedit, I hear bad things can happen if you don't. That is to say, I've always followed the unload rule!
  19. Man I love the "New Threads" thing on the index! Greetings, please read our forum rules. Do NOT crosspost. Thanks
  20. You need to allow googleapis in NoScript to get the site to work properly. You can disallow intellitext.
  21. Its probably in ProgramData, which is a Hidden System file. If you change your display options to view these types of files, you might find it. I can't find it on my PC. Anyways, if the probably hasn't come back, you can probably safely ignore this file.
  22. Right, you can't just toss the file on there and that's it. In fact the boot image by itself probably won't help you very much. In order to make it bootable you are going to need additional files. Fortunately these files are located in the Windows AIK. YOu need to get the version for Vista SP1. Do not use the one for Windows 7! Commands to make a bootable PE CD are located here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd744537%28WS.10%29.aspx Of course, Vista needs a DVD. Additional info on creating Win PE boot media are here:
  23. Righty-Oh! Our wonderful scripting masters are going to need you to do some work for them before they can point you in the right direction. REMEMBER: some people might offer code to you, but do not expect that we can do the work for you! OK that out of the way, let's break down your request. Correct me if I am wrong in any of this: - You want a key/button to be used as a toggle. - If you are not logged in, you want to log in. - If you are logged in, you want to log out. Now we need to know what do you mean by "log in" and "log out." 1. Are you using a certain program? 2. Do you mean log into Windows, a website, a network share? Or are you using PPPoE (ISDN/A/DSL) or Radius (Dial-Up)? 3. What OS are you using? 4. Do you have Administrator rights? If you can think of any other important info, please post it. Moving to Programming!
  24. It would appear that WEI only tests the HDD that Windows is on, not all drives. Windows is on an 80GB Western Digital SATA drive. Here is my work computer's score: 5.5 CPU: 5.8 RAM: 5.8 Graphics: 5.9 Gaming Graphics: 5.5 HDD: 5.9
