  1. Removed the link to the RAR file. This company doesn't appear to have a webpage, or I can't find it. Since their software is designed to use other languages (most I haven't the slightest idea about) it is possible I'm just trying to look up the wrong terms.
  2. Audigy Platinum is kinda generic, since there were a bunch of different ones released with those two words in the name. Model number would be better (it is printed on the card itself) to determine which it is. I found that SB0090 and SB0162 work in Win98 with these drivers: http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=229
  3. It didn't work for me yesterday, but appears to be visible today.
  4. Right. Wasn't there something in the news awhile back where people were getting malware from msnbc and other big sites? Something about how someone hacked the ad service that multiple sites were using at the time.
  5. This isn't the first time that I've seen someone post something along these lines. The problem I have with this is that I have never seen an issue where DISM is case sensitive. I have found it works equally well in both upper, lower or mixed case. There may be a configuration difference in the environments I have used it compared to others, so that may be possible.
  6. Just throwing this out there, not sure if dealing with goofy end-users or what, but has anyone ever encountered any problems after setting a fairly large LogonCount setting for sysprep? For example, I've "heard" of these (from the support people) but we can't reproduce these issues: 1. PC prompts for password instead of autologon (way before the amount of logons specified for this object) 2. PC prompts for user to change password 3. Password expires?! and machine can't logon. I am fairly certain that things are being done with these machines that are causing this issues, and not so much that the XML is causing this, however, I also do not know exactly what Sysprep does to the account in the system when you specify to create an account, password and specify LogonCount. As an example, I have one image set LogonCount to over 4 million, but the users of this image are encountering all sorts of issues (like #1 above) within weeks of using the PC. Other images I have set the same LogonCount setting to are not having or, at least, reporting issues like this. When I get the chance to test, if you Logoff the user account, then relogin (manually) and/or reboot, will the next reboot login automatically?
  7. You can delete the registry key that makes this appear after install. I do not know where these keys are located... my brain is half dried up on XP stuff already.
  8. Unless you've been experimenting with modifying Windows, I'd check for malware.
  9. Post your motherboard/notebook model. Also are you using XP Pro or Home or 64bit?
  10. MSI ( I believe ) made a notebook with this technology. I wasn't very fond of it. Yes you can switch between the adapters BUT a reboot is required to actually use the other one. Frankly I didn't see the point of that "feature" so your dual boot option may have something to it.
  11. I use Windows Update, but I read what the update is for before installing it.
  12. Even if you are able to get to talk to someone at Realtek, they won't be too much help. They defer all support for their products through the manufacturer of the product their chip is on. For example, I had a problem with an RTL nic doing PXE boot (the rom was bad) on an AOpen, and I had to go through AOpen for support. The Realtek support group is more aimed at support to integrators (board manufacturers) more than end-users.
  13. Welcome to the MSFN!
  14. We would prefer that only "official" products are named after MSFN. If you have received help in making your product, you can put a link to your site in your readme or related documentation, but using the MSFN name on something that isn't specifically related to us may cause misunderstanding among anyone who uses it as to who actually created it. I'll move this topic to multiboot CD for now, maybe can get better help there.
  15. I have confirmed this issues in my own Notes option and brought this to attention. This isn't the only case I have found so far, sometimes the " will be converted to its HTML code as well. I agree it shouldn't be that way, so we'll have to see what can be done and hopefully get a fix for it soon.
  16. Can you do us a favor and post a screenshot of what you are seeing? I'm not really here this week but noticed you hadn't gotten a response yet.
  17. I was hoping this wasn't a notebook. I know the difficulties these have. Since it doesn't work right now, maybe you can try a liveCD for linux and see if the audio comes out both channels?
  18. It is possible that the default driver only allows mono on the audio chipset you have. In the olden days, mono meant "left channel" but that may not be true in this case. How do you know a reinstall will fix it? Tell us about your experiences with this. You can try cleaning your speaker contact, as this is a common issue. A dirty plug ( you can't really clean the female connector ) can cause this issue. As can corrosion (even if you can't see it) on either connector. Try the following hardware steps to see if it makes a difference: 1. Twist the audio connector while you are playing audio. See if it cuts in or out. 2. While playing audio, slowly unplug the connector, and see if you get full stereo after the first notch. Then again you didn't mention if this was a notebook or not. You may also want to install the software for your sound card. Windows Update never includes this part, and even some sites a straight driver doesn't have it either.
  19. It doesn't appear that any of these will make the MP3s for you, I may be mistaken. I've made MP3s from a cassette tape before, but it was a long time ago. The process is that you basically record on the PC while the audio is being played on the tape deck. So you can see it is time consuming! I wouldn't think you actually would need these at all if you have audio equipment at your disposal already. Of course the #1 thing is a tape deck, but you can connect those using audio out to the input on your sound card. Not sure why USB is that much of a difference, unless these things are high speed automatic dubbers (probably not) as the extra speed on the USB isn't going to make a difference. Alas this is why I still have a tape deck in my car!
  20. It could be that the drive is going. Does it do this both when on Battery and when Plugged-In?
  21. No I do not. However there is a way to find out. First you can use ProcMon on the system you get the error. If you have access to another PC with the same version of XP installed where this does work, you can run ProcMon on that one and compare the results.
  22. This can be pretty tricky. I had similar problems trying to get WinPE to use a video driver I injected instead of it always wanting to use "Standard VGA Adapter" driver. I never figured out how to fix it.
