I think that's why everyone is so critical of Miller, we've already had the best goalie in the world, no one else will ever be so great in our eyes.

IS One-Click-Installer (OCI) silent?
Tripredacus replied to Tripredacus's topic in Application Installs
I was able to build an exe with InstallRite 2.5, but it does not install (or do anything) on another system... I followed this general instructions, save the last part: http://www.netopia.com/support/software/how2docs/netoctopus/installrite.html I've tried both double-clicking and running from cmd. The test environment is Windows 7 Pro x86 in Audit Mode. -
How to download from youtube channels
Tripredacus replied to sangeethar44's topic in Software Hangout
It looks like the URLs where the video is require authentication to get to. But it is strange that Youtube won't actually prompt you for credentials, instead returning a 401 result to the browser. This means that the particular page this video is hosted on has a variable or include within it that has the password, meaning it can only be accessed from that page, likely with the player or some other mechanism authenticating with the server. I did also stumble upon the mobil version, however it uses the RTSP protocol and my browser didn't seem to like that. BTW: the first video appears to have been recorded in interlace and isn't very good on the eyes. -
I am going to think that its possible your WinRE is set up differently from mine. I have not seen a time where the winre.wim goes into a GUID directory. But never fear, at least we have Reagentc now... in Vista there was no such thing and frankly I'm glad Windows 7 WinRE is so much easier. I only had to build 1 recovery partition using the Vista tech and it was for Server 2008 Embedded Web. I'm glad about it and have mostly forgotten how exactly it was done.

Lightweight firewall recommendation?
Tripredacus replied to Tripredacus's topic in Networks and the Internet
Not using third party fw yet, although I do intend to at some point... due to some strange cross-manufacturer configuration issue which blocks connection to the Quake 3 master server. I first encountered this problem with my old D-Link, where if you try to connect to Q3, it resets the router. DD-WRT fixed it on that one, but my current router does the same thing. Currently I have Linksys WRT400N using whatever fw it came with. SPI firewall is enabled and the only Filter option set is IDENT port 113. It should be mostly at default settings, except that I have both bands (N and G) set up with WPA2-AES. I can see that both WLAN and LAN clients all get IPs in the same subnet, so they should be able to communicate. AP Isolation is set for Disabled on both bands. -
Lightweight firewall recommendation?
Tripredacus replied to Tripredacus's topic in Networks and the Internet
OK that makes sense. But as it stands, there may already be isolation setting enabled in the router, because wireless and wired clients can't access each other, but each type can go online. -

Have you tried deploying your existing image and see if you can install this hotfix manually? Do you have MSXML Core Services 3.0 installed in your image? Here is the security bulletin, check with the Non-Affected Software too. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin/MS10-051 You can check your MSXML file version to see which you actually have: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/269238 -

It was my understanding that if I set up the PC in the DMZ, both the wired and wireless clients could see it. -

Annoying Google & Yahoo Changes for Old Browsers
Tripredacus replied to ScrewUpgrading's topic in Windows 9x/ME
After the update to Yahoo, including yahoo Mail (not sure about other sections) it is obvious they are moving to embrace AJAX. So it would seem normal that Yahoo wouldn't work properly with Javascript disabled. -
Connecting a Windows 98 and Windows 7 through a network
Tripredacus replied to KelvinTwister's topic in Windows 9x/ME
You need to create a user account on the Win7 PC. You should put a password on it. Then share a folder on the Win7 and select that user account you made. When you connect to it from the Win98, you will be prompted for credentials. On Windows98, Guest access is enabled, which is why you can just go there and see the shares. On Win7, guest access is disabled and you *should* create a user account to access the files with. It is possible to enable guest access on Win7, but I recommend against it. -
Win 2k3 to Win 2k8 Dc, member server have Exchange 2k3
Tripredacus replied to rubynnhq's topic in Windows Server
When you demote your old DC, will the system be taken out of service? If not, after you transfer the roles and forest over, you could just use that system as another file server or somethng else without demoting it. -

Er... what is it? Can you post your score? Here is mine, just for fun as you said! More expensive doesn't mean it has higher performance either... I wonder what card that is (knowing would probably solve that mystery) We have a topic about those, so I'd not derail this topic into a "share your score" thread. I considered pinning it but there are already so many pinned topics.

Connecting a Windows 98 and Windows 7 through a network
Tripredacus replied to KelvinTwister's topic in Windows 9x/ME
I have also had no problems transferring between Win98 FE and Win7 Pro through a router. I just had to create a user account on the Win7 to share the folder with. I didn't bother seeing if the PCs were visible to each other in the Network browser, just directly connect to the UNC path using IP address. IE: \\192.168.100.101 You should not have any problems doing basic networking with Windows 7 Starter, however it looks like yours is modified (Aero Glass) so this may not be true. Here is a pic of my netbook copying files from a Win98 share:
