  1. What program gives you this message?
  2. Imagex is deprecated for Windows 8. Use DISM instead. What is the stop error reported on the BSOD screen?
  3. Hello from the internet!
  4. My only complaint about the new Yahoo is how AJAX (or somesuch) dependent it is. Meaning it can just hang around doing nothing even though you've clicked a bunch of stuff. Their fantasy sports are worse now, where entire objects can end up disappearing when you hover over them.
  5. I know that If you want to use a third-party email client (Thunderbird) on Exchange, you need to use IMAP. or at least maybe it is easiest to set up that way. I'm not sure why that is.
  6. How long have we had keyboards with Start buttons on them? How funny is it that it isn't until AFTER Microsoft removes the Start Menu that they decide to release a mouse with a Start button? http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/24/microsoft-debuts-new-sculpt-mice-with-windows-8-start-buttons
  7. Sometimes a notebook requires software for the function keys to work.
  8. I have no experience in joining a computer to a domain via the answer file. There are multiple topics about it in this section. Just search for MachineObjectOU to find other (potentially similar) posts and see how their files are built and if they had the same problem.
  9. Aka "Magic Pink" which is a common Chroma Key when using bitmaps in computing.
  10. Moving this to the beta forum until the product has been officially released.
  11. Has there even been a platform preview of IE11?
  12. --JorgeA He's comparing two different things! The current "open system" is desktop apps. That has not changed in Windows 8.
  13. Us non-artistic types like to call these "Vector Graphics" ...
  14. Yes. The ComputerName object may be invalid. Replace it with * instead and see what kind of name it generates, also if the error is gone.
  15. Well if you think about it, winlogon.exe must still be running. Look to see if it is in Task Manager. Windows usually will restart itself if winlogon.exe actually crashes. But to determine the issue, a dump file is needed.
  16. I'm not sure if it is the same, but I used to have a customer who had this problem. It was a custom install, but it was caused by Explorer.exe process being killed during start up, resulting in that message. A reboot surely fixed it, or manually running explorer.exe from Task Manager if it is available.
  17. Well you usually see this type of prompt with the Server OS. I never tried Hybrid option but it is asking you for a reason for shutdown so it can be logged into Event Viewer. I found this example online: shutdown -S -hybrid -F -T ## -C "Your message here" In place of ## put seconds, example if you put 05 there it would be 5 seconds.
  18. So far, from what I have been able to gather, most X-Box fans do NOT like this new product. Those who think its cool and really want it are in the minority for sure. The most reaction seems to be saying they are either sold on the PS4 or going back to PC gaming. Regarding the app usage... People still see PCs (notebooks included) as being different than phones. Even with touch enabled devices, people who buy PCs with Windows 8 are less likely to use them as phones or tablets. These people who show low or very low app usage probably have their web browser open for most of the time.
  19. WSIM should have failed validation on this answer file. For example, the value of TimeZone is invalid. The correct value in your case would be: <TimeZone>Eastern Standard Time</TimeZone>
  20. The XBox One will have a non-servicable hard drive... http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-hard-drive/?utm_medium=feed&utm_source=Feed_Classic&utm_campaign=Engadget Whatever that means. But then look at the one Wired got. It has a standard notebook SATA HDD, doesn't look to difficult to remove. http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2013/05/xbox-one-development-photos/#slideid-138497 Not that I ever bothered tinkering with a console before like that, I just thought it odd for them to say it like that.
  21. I recall we used to have a different layout saying what MSFN is. When the redesign for this forum skin was done, I guess that disappeared. It stands for Microsoft Software Forum Network. Our Admin, Xper owns the site. We are not part of Microsoft. Basically as you can see from the forum layout, we have 2 main sections for Microsoft software: usage and installation. Then of course there are the member projects and the other stuff.
  22. If you are not using Volume License, you will need a product key for each one.
  23. For the problem of getting the answer file to be read by the WIM file... Rename your answer file unattend.xml. Then mount your image and put the unattend.xml file into mount\windows\system32\sysprep. Then commit your changes and try to apply your image. Alternatively, another option is you can run setup and use the /unattend switch to specify the location of the answer file, rather than having to manually put it in the image. For the parsing error, you'll need to attach your xml file to a post (make sure to edit out your domain information and product key) so we can look at it. Otherwise you can validate it in WSIM to make sure you do not have any errors it can find.
  24. Asus merely gives it a name (Graphix Boost) but the technology isn't theirs. It is actually Intel's technology. http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-031103.htm
