maxXPsoft replied to tonycrew's topic in Unattended Windows Vista/Server 2008
thats for sure, I see some doubles with 109 for sure but by removin that 1 line all is fine? WTF MS I say its waik, a double entry might not be nothing more than an update by a different bearer. After that Install and a reboot ok i had xml 6 on but it said i needed xml 4 ???? what, these people can't make nothing backwards compatible??? we see the mess .Net is in right now -

WSIM autounattend Error..?
maxXPsoft replied to tonycrew's topic in Unattended Windows Vista/Server 2008
Ok done 109 Updates on a fresh install and from within Vista Installed Waik clean, opened my xml and then saved which immediately gave me the error. Opened in Context and Removed the one line at bottom again that references the image location and back in Sim clicked save and it asked if I want to associate and I said No. It loaded fine with no errors but image disappeared from where you select Image. I select the same image again and all was ok. -

[Tutorial] Clean Windows Vista Install - No Activation needed
maxXPsoft replied to neo's topic in Windows Vista
ok but you can simplify it as i mentioned. My M8 also didn't get a dvd from the manufacturer so he called and they sent him a clean disk, matched the other vista_RTM My brother had problems with his Gateway laptop that was courtesy upgraded and i copied the disk and compared to vista_RTM and they were exact, no changes at all. makes that C:\WINDOWS\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing\tokens.dat look funny how it can match in all cases don't it? EDIT: made a mistake since i've been comparing a lot of different Oem dvds. The Dell Oem dvd matched except the $Oem$ structure which I said earlier -

@orev All I'm saying is this Think about what you're saying there. If its an actual OEM disk then the files are already in place or in my case they are for a fully legal Dell. You simply need to create a small xml file with correct answers including your key and put it on a floppy/usb stick and then don't have to go through all the other stuff you're saying. I/we have even discovered that the PID.txt it is in sources folder and in Boot.wim 2 Sources folder also is not even needed. Why do I go through mountrw my image, SP1 testing dude, its not your original disk but you can make it activate like it was. Also to inject Drivers, Updates and setup Application installers Then your first app activation_backup.exe would be good for extracting the *.*xrm-ms and original key for those purposes but second 1 is not needed. And lastly, in other forums you're posts were installing clean without the garbage, thats what I do M8, only the *.*xrm-ms and xml with valid key are needed with the right Bios and you don't even see the Logos how clean is that? and legal because same computer i've only updated it. -
well? you gettin there elajua? need any help just ask, maybe someone can answer. used your app on my Bros laptop since it was a clean OEM and combined with quite a few of my own surefire speedups made it a much happier camper

For OEM disks why would i go through all that? when you simply mountrw your image and create dir folders if needed and copy the *.*xrm-ms to DVD\sources\$OEM$\$$\SYSTEM32\OEM, plug your key in the xml and its done. No 2 mb exe to run or nothing and you can do that without it stopping and asking for a key All this was covered in the Unattend forums some time ago but a recent post is http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=101649 -
Found a workaround for the Network location bug

im in there already spoof, have tried several different combinations which end up with Public still but I'm combining that with several more things I've found -
Bigmutt thats my thing too but i reinstall a lot more frequent than you. I have a Dell but I don't go to length to install their packages since they throw stuff all over the place. I instead capture drivers and stuff with Driver Genius or another program. Some of their stuff can be installed with switches though. Have a separate drive and folder with all my 'APPS' I may be installing and I get curent registry file and folder settings and update both my Dvd root and the separate backup 'APPS' folder location. I can have an image complete and ready to burn in about an hour but i been doing this awhile

/unattended:sysprep.xml then perhaps you need to include a path to sysprep.xml -

WSIM autounattend Error..?
maxXPsoft replied to tonycrew's topic in Unattended Windows Vista/Server 2008
when i got this I Acronis'd back to before WAIK was installed, redone everything and reinstalled waik. Got the error again and started telling it not to associate. Perhaps your error is from another program or Hotfix on your machine maybe? Never know these day's. Have you uninstalled waik and reinstalled, probably dumb ? -
WSIM autounattend Error..?
maxXPsoft replied to tonycrew's topic in Unattended Windows Vista/Server 2008
MAVERICK, Ran it through here and no errors. Tried it on 2 different drives also with my 45 updates I have. I do it different than you and don't use an answer file I Expand 1 at a time to my Sandbox and delete and Re-Create the Sandbox after each Update is applied with my VistaUA. May be unnecessary but it works for me. Pkgmgr: called with: "C:\VistaUA\Tools\x86\Servicing\pkgmgr /o:"C:\VistaUA\xTmp\;C:\VistaUA\xTmp\Windows" /ip /m:C:\VistaUA\xTmp\Sandbox\Windows6.0-KB925528-x86.cab /s:C:\VistaUA\xTmp\Sandbox /l:C:\VistaUA\Logs\hotfix.log" -
WSIM autounattend Error..?
maxXPsoft replied to tonycrew's topic in Unattended Windows Vista/Server 2008
Funny thing is it loads that xml when I deny it but there is blank space as you see and I call that corrupt even though it loads, thats WAIK doing that but its wrong. I now don't add that line cause its something only WAIK wants to do. I injected 45 Hotfixes last install and I am only minus 1 Update i can't seem to find and don't see any double, I am real careful about delete older updates that be like Windows6.0-KB890830-V1.26.exe and get rid of any other same KB MAVERICK, open your xml in Notepad and look at all these lines <component name=" those should be a single line with no wrapping, in fact all lines should be single with no wrap May show wrap when opened in Internet Explorer but thats an illusion. If you want to attach your xml I'll look at it. -
WSIM autounattend Error..?
maxXPsoft replied to tonycrew's topic in Unattended Windows Vista/Server 2008
This error don't come from double entries, at least for me. I got the same exact Error as original post but I don't have the Hotfixes injected yet. at System.ThrowHelper.ThrowInvalidOperationException(ExceptionResource resource) at System.Collections.Generic.List`1.Enumerator.MoveNext() So where does it come from? WAIK I started noticing how my xmls are being corrupted by WAIK itself. You see the Pic " />' and I see that in a lot of xmls posted here. I'll stick to using my xml creator, I only open it in Waik when I want to check the layout or add something but to keep it from doing that I say don't associate the answer file with image but it still adds this Yes it still puts a blank spot but the file loads Also, you don't need that line at all and it will Install just fine. Make sure also if you are using an editor that it don't indent the xml throwing blank spaces in it. BTW EDIT:I didn't start seeing this till I started adding AuditSystem/ AuditUser stuff so that makes this bug even more weird.
