  1. See the MSI's properties supported.... it can set all of that silently.
  2. Has already been done. Check out nLite. You're forgetting that "crappy M$" is getting paid for what they do. That should be reason enough to excuse myself out of the chance of being a guinea pig for them. What you're saying makes sense in the context of free (open-source) software since everyone has a shared interest in seeing that the end product is good because no single person owns it, or takes all the credit. But not in the case of MS where I already do my part of the deal (by paying the price they demand) - its perfectly logical to expect that they keep up their part of the deal (by delivering if not on expectations, atleast on promises made).
  3. Hi, This is how I do it: 1. First download the official mySQL installer 2. It is a ZIP file, extract to somewhere. 3. Then run the EXE now (it will be something like - "mysql-4.1.11-win32.exe"). 4. Now do not go ahead with the installation - we only want the ACTUAL setup file. 5. Leave that setup EXE running, and go here - "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Temp" 6. You will see a file called "mysql_server.msi" 7. Take that, and use it in your unattended CD. 8. Now exit out of the setup that you started in step 3. Thereafter, hopefully you know what to do with it? You can just install it like any other MSI-based installer (using the "/QB" switch). I'm referring to the win32 binary of MySQL 4.1.11 in the above steps. If you use some other version and something does not work, then don't hesitate to post! More likely than not, you also need the MySQL Administrator and Query Browser, isn't it? Do you install those as well, or is phpMyAdmin sufficient for you?
  4. Hello there, From what you said, it look like you have installed SP1 on top of the existing OS. Normally that doesn't work out too well. The best thing is to slip-stream the SP into the main CD, and then install from it. I had no SCW problems this way....
  5. I like thunderbird and use it for my email, but one big bother that I had till now was that it won't go into system tray. Well, now its fixed. http://minimizetotray.mozdev.org/Hoping you too find it to be as useful as it was for me. Use it alongwith the webmail extension (for hotmail and yahoo to be displayed in Tb). Make the installation unattended and then it becomes mighty convenient - farther than OE ever was. Enjoy!
  6. Thanks niteman, And here's more info I later found out. 1. Run "C:\program files\mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -profile defaults\profile"(from within the Tb folder at command-line) 2. Now its running with default profile - no need for later getting files from %userprofile% So now install any themes, extensions, etc. And set your preferences as well. And install ChromEdit if needed to edit the user pref files manually (for getting rid of first-run wizard). Remember that you need to close Tb and run it again with above command, for any extensions installations to complete. Now confirm that its all according to how you like it. Then just RAR SFX it for extraction during install! So there - you get pre-installed extensions, settings, themes, etc. - all pre-done and set easily. MAIN ADVANTAGE - you just need the Tb installed folder, no need to bother about getting and restoring user profile. 3. Now you need to do the normal Tb extraction-style install. (i.e., you need to extract, set the .REG keys, set the default on StartMenu, put in the programs shortcuts). Hoiping this helps others too....
  7. Nah, its quite similar. Most of these tweaks could be used just fine on x64. The tweak for this is already there in the registry tweaks attached on first page.....
  8. Its not meant to, anyway. Its just going to tell you that you've been fooled, when you follow any of those links on the spoofed page.
  9. A better way to do it is via the registry. And that way it becomes a one-time task too, no need to run it repeatedly. In one shot, all administrative shares get eliminated. Look in the registry tweaks thread for this tweak....
  10. @RYU81 Maybe there's a syntax error in your command. Also, cdimage will choke if you have directories going more than 8 levels deep. Try getting cdimageGUI from the uA guide site, and monitor it for any error messages it throws up.
  11. It works fine when downloading the normal way. Go to that page, click the file download, and save to disk (download with browser). Using download managers may give "leeching" messages, though.
  12. You could go into disk-management and either remove all drive letters for the partition of your choice, or mount it in an empty NTFS folder. In both cases, the partition will disappear from MyComputer.
  13. Using cdimage.exe, you need to "optimize" your ISO image. The "-o" switch is needed to be used for this.
  14. longhorn still accepts even a plain winnt.sif And WIM images do have editors, like ISOs - but its not allowed to edit it actually.... so mentioning it is warez - but you can still google!
  15. You have to download the entire SP2, or order the same on a CD (this is free, but will take weeks to reach you). The XPSP2 Pro CD can not be de-constructed to obtain SP2 for Home Edn. @RyanVM haha, you're sufficiently senior alright
  16. Wait some time for responses Just one hour and you expect replies! It might take even days sometimes! Only PAID help-desks can answer a question in real-time.....
  17. If its VMware, then it gets used once a week, and formatted many times that day. Otherwise, my real machine gets its C: formatted once in 3 days.
  18. Haha, this proof is good. But Mars doesn't taste all that good.
  19. "silicon.com is reporting on a new twist on some oft-done probability research, into the suggestion that an infinite number of monkeys will eventually produce a perfect script for Hamlet , given typewriters (or indeed keyboards) and enough time. The researchers claims that the monkeys used in their test preferred using systems running Windows XP to those running Mac OSX. Which begs the question -- do only monkeys use windows, or can even monkeys tell macs aren't worth bothering with?" full story
  20. At the time of writing, Gmail is now not just 1 GB, it is:
  21. http://www.msnsearchspoof.com/ I'll say no more. You have to actually use it to see how it is!
  22. Please make your sentences coherent first. As for ASP, it can run in apache only after a lot of trouble. Its much more suited to IIS.
  23. Thanks for this guide My card is compatible with MCE, but the emulated VMware card is not - so it will be useful in that context.
  24. Ah, now I know why they called it warez.
  25. Exactly MDGx. Eventually hackers will find out how Opera works and find ways to exploit its security flaws, prathapml. Using ANY web browser (whether it's Opera, Mozilla or Firefox) that is several years old is NEVER a good idea as web standards are changing almost constantly and it's best to use the latest releases of web browsers possible. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, what you're saying is right about other browsers. But this one is different.I'm having an old system with Win9x and 32 MB memory, and its been running Opera 5.12 since 4 years. No upgrades, no changes, nothing - its having all the features needed, is quite compatible, and is very quick. I visit all sorts of sites with it, and no security problems yet. Is this enough proof yet? On the other hand, if it was IE, running it for 4 years with ZERO maintenance/updates would be unthinkable!
