  1. Are you still with the hacked termsrv.dll though (after re-install) ? Who knows what was embedded in it (if it was downloaded from somewhere) - I always prefer to see what hex-edits are to be made and do it myself. B) Even files that have been around for years, might suddenly be found to have security back-doors! 'Tis not for nothing that NASA insists on 5 year old hardware and software, as a compulsory minimum (atleast, last I heard).

    XPlode v2.00

feufy, see this thread for the latest status on XPlode - read.
  3. Please see the threads of interest (topic link) in "Unattended Windows" forum. What you are looking for, is some way to have a 2 CD install - webmedic's thread. Hoping this helps...
  4. Well, MyPictures wouldn't exist "as such" in either the INFs (in I386) or the .DAT (which make up the registry after install). I dunno why I get this feeling, but.... check if the below command (or something similar) was run with/without your knowledge at any point of time. regsvr32 /u /s mydocs.dllYou know what its for (to get rid of the "My--" series of folders in MyDocuments), and to me it looks the most likely reason you people's wallpapers aren't showing up? Or maybe we wait for a third person to report the same weird-ness, then we see what's similar between all three of your installations....
  5. That's what CMDOW is used for (to minimise or hide CMD windows) - read this page of the guide for details - http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/downloads.htm.
  6. ANNOUNCEMENT: All tweaks upto this point have been added/corrected in the new v1.3 registry tweaks file. Thanks to JohnnyDo. A modification to the mode of distributing tweaks - since most people seem to be double-clicking the .REG file directly, and don't choose only the tweaks they need. The file attached in first-post will have a .TXT extension, so that it will open in notepad, and you can see what you are going to apply. First post updated, and time of last update added. Please re-download to enjoy the new set.
  7. @yshimizu When beginning with this stuff, sticking around the forum and seeing how others have done it is the best strategy. Also, read the "sticky"ed topics in each section of the forums. For this particular purpose, go to the "Unattended windows" section, and read all the topics linked to, in the "Threads of interest". That contains the information you want. Also read "Giving Your Windows Cosmetic Surgery". READING THE PAST THREADS is useful - there's threads of last 2 years, do read them before springing a question on! and....... SEARCH BUTTON IS YOUR FRIEND!!!!! use it before asking something!
  8. You need to extract the file you download (using winzip/winrar/whatever). Then in the folder that comes now, you see the installer (dxsetup.exe). Put that folder to where you need it (CD/network/wherever) and run that exe with "/silent" switch - as in, whatever_your_folder_etc\dxsetup.exe /silent Hoping this helps...
  9. well.... don't get me wrong, because I said it was old news. I was just alerting the fact, that's all. MSFN news (posted by xper) had this since Aug 20 or so (I know since I've been using it since then, and it was msfn which told me of this). Link to article - see the date/time of the first 2 comments, it is a re-posted news (new version, I suppose, but I don't know why google themselves haven't updated their page to reflect the new date).
  10. Well, never bothered about what the difference could be.... What is here on MSFN works, is all that matters, lol. Anyways, Tsunami means to say the below: if your value is two words long then you should have it in quotes as in - "two words long" Otherwise, you'd just not use quotes if there is no spacing - one_word would be written as one_word directly, without quotes.
  11. What is the date today?
  12. See it being said by a highly respected reviewist - VPC2004 is confirmedly slower than VMware. http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/virtualpc2004.asp He has a very good review there, starting with basic info on WHY a virtual machine is needed, how its used, history, comparisons, screen-shots, etc. Also, for those unattenders who ask for details on how to test their ISO, in a virtual environment, that review is a good starting-point to understand how it works.
  13. If slip-streaming is all you want it to do, then use this guide here: http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windo..._slipstream.asp Yes, that WinSuperSite guide is a bit less easier, but the reason of recommending it is - 1. nLite is a tool for doing much more things, and is easy to choose too many options and go wrong. 2. If following the supersite guide, your problem is solved, then you know that the problem was created in some way while using nLite.
  14. You can put the oobeinfo.ini into any of the two places, its your wish actually.... But personally, I'd say putting it in "$OEM$\$$\System32\OOBE\" is better - because, that way you don't need to modify any files in I386.
  15. Welcome to MSFN forum. twin Please don't cross-post the same thing across forums. You'll get an answer soon enough even if you post at just one.
  16. GAT, I've noticed that if any drivers for any device is missing, then the power-saving options and hibernate/suspend options aren't offered. So try checking for and installing drivers for all of the hardware residing/connected to your PC.
  17. Hello refthoom, Welcome to MSFN. Links to important guides (please read these carefully before asking questions): The Official Unattended Windows XP CD-guide Windows Multi-Boot DVD guide
  18. @big poppa pump Well, if you want to pre-set live-update settings, then that's not all that easy. Otherwise, if having the latest version of LU pre-installed with SAV is what you want, then read the first post of this topic once more please.
  19. @jrf2027 Those aren't volume license editions. They use something called SLP, which is only offered to OEMs. More details on SLP here - http://www.windows-help.net/WindowsXP/activation.html.
  20. @Elgreen Do not post your key, it could lead to your licensed key being invalidated/blocked!
  21. The code used to apply the regtweak was wrong... Please correct the relevant section. Corrected code is: REG ADD %KEY%\047 /VE /D "MSN Messenger 6.2" /f REG ADD %KEY%\047 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\Install\Messenger62\MsnMsgs.msi /qn" /f REG ADD %KEY%\047 /V 2 /D "REGEDIT /S %systemdrive%\Install\Messenger62\messengeroff.reg" /fMessengerOff.reg must be in the same folder as the MSI (%systemdrive%\Install\Messenger62\) - and gets applied AFTER the MSN messenger installs. The above corrected code should work now. Tell us how it goes! hehe... McoreD you are quick! (posting just a few seconds before... lol)
  22. You wanted to de-activate windows, so deleting that file was the way.... Now to get back the activation: Well, if you had copied away the "C:\windows\system32\wpa.dbl" file before entirely deleting it, you can do this: 1. Boot up in safe mode (press F8, choose safe mode). 2. Log-in and browse to that folder, copy back the file. 3. Reboot. Now, once the above is done, you have your windows XP back to normal activated condition. Even if not, there's a solution below, which can be done in safe-mode itself. The below is the recommended method used by OEMs- Make your activated windows XP want activation again (with full 30 days grace period): 1. Pick-up your WinXP SP2 CD, and go to "SUPPORT\TOOLS" folder to get the "deploy.cab" file (or download the updated "deploy.cab" file for SP2 from MS downloads, or download from the attachment in this post). 2. Extract "sysprep.exe" and "setupcl.exe" from that CAB archive, and put them to one folder called "sysprep". 3. Copy these files to the machine you want to dis-activate - so now you should have "C:\sysprep" folder with above 2 files in it. 4. Confirm that you don't have the WXP install CD in the drive. 5. Now, from the "Run" menu in start menu, type the following command- C:\sysprep\sysprep.exe -reseal -reboot6. That's all. It will now be back to the stage which your boss is asking (activation pop-ups). 7. After it reboots, remember to delete the sysprep folder. Do try it, and post back on any other questions you may have. Hoping this helps... sysprep2.zip
  23. Search around please..... ATi drivers integration has been discussed and beaten to death innumerable times, LOL.
  24. @Bi0haZarDLOL, why do we forget the simplest solutions.... Everybody in your family has their own user account right? (or atleast, you use a different account, than the rest of the family?) 1. Login to your account. 2. Create a folder in your MyDocuments called "MyHiddenFiles" or whatever. 3. Right-click MyComputer, click manage. 4. Browse to DiskManagement. 5. There, right-click the partition that has the files to be hidden. 6. "Change Drive letter and Paths", remove the drive letter, confirm "yes" to it. 7. Then, add a new - "Mount in the following empty NTFS folder". 8. Click "Browse" and browse to the path of "MyHiddenFiles", and click OK. 9. There! You're done, that's all. So now, what might have been your E: drive, is no longer accessible as E: drive. It is a folder "mounted" at %username%\MyDocs\MyHiddenFiles. Now, assuming that others won't go fiddling around your user-profile folder looking for files, your E: is safe now. Its files can only be accessed when YOU login, and through the folder you specified. The others simply don't even know that such a drive exists. If you feel like formatting your C: drive, you don't need to worry about losing your E: drive's files/NTFS-permissions/etc - simply re-install your windows, and re-do the above steps. Do post back if you use the above suggestion, and you find it useful. Hoping this helps...
  25. The registration file for Opera is this one: %ProgramFiles%\Opera76\OUsr600.dat(of course folder name changes with version, but not file-name) Once you register opera, copy it away, and restore it back to the same place using batch-files!
