  1. Why does the most easy and straight solution go unthought of.... No need to patch WFP. No need to deal with .theme files. No need to replace files on I386. a. Using batch-file, delete %WinDir%\Web\Wallpaper\Bliss.bmp b. Then copy over your own BMP using copy commands in same batch-file! That's all! That's what I do, and it works perfectly. I am in a hurry as of now, but I'm sure the others here will be able to tell you how to do steps a & b unattended. Things to know: 1. Place your intended new wallpap in "$OEM$\$1\install\temp\Bliss.bmp" or wherever.... just ensure that your .CMD can access it. 2. The file delete+copy should happen at T-12 (cmdlines.txt stage). 3. Remember, remember, remember.... its a BMP to be replaced with another - don't use JPEG/GIF/PNG.
  2. woo hoo... so quick kudos to you!
  3. Therefore, if at all a Santa did exist, he doesn't anymore.
  4. Cartoonite has given very good suggestions. As he says, the best thing you can do is either "/integrate" (most favoured option), or RyanVM's update pack. @alexburn I'm almost sure, that the "ok" dialog is coming because of the Qchain. Did you extract Qchain.exe (using winzip/winrar) or did you just download the file and put it as it is into the Update folder?
  5. Okay, so how do you do that? What's the switches to be used? (remember, the standard of click installer, click next, finish, reboot is too much bother here, I'm looking for unattended)
  6. Now that would be illegal, and neither posting it nor PM'ing such a thing would be allowed.
  7. No, it won't.You can have the file simply sitting there and doing nothing. The .NET will install no matter what you put in cmdlines.txt. What matters, is the content of your xpcd.reg. And if you are worried about what toecutter said, then just install dotNET beforte applying regtweaks. Personally, I install all the apps I want, and apply regtweaks right at the end.
  8. I believe MS _loves_ the one-size-fits-all concept, and calls it by the name "default settings". Why you want to change that then!
  9. IMO, I *DID* want a Mac OSX style bar, and got Object Bar - its the best and least buggy (just my personal opinion, as I already said).
  10. Yes, you can either use the winnt.sif value that benners mentions, or use the registry tweak I mentioned (the registry tweak should be applied through cmdlines.txt).
  11. Yes, the default is to append. So you can delete the pagefile on G:\ and then create one on D:\ But be aware though, that having less than 2 MB of pagefile on C: can get dangerous, so the VBS warns you about it. So what I'd do in such a case is set the swap on C: to be just 2 MB, and then create the one on D:\ to be the desired size.
  12. The installer says something about optimizing performance.... maybe the "plugins" to "optional" trick. Other new things to remove - the yahoo search.
  13. You're referring to the welcome to windows XP tour that starts up after login? ;----- Disable Windows Tour ;----- [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Tour] "RunCount"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Tour] "RunCount"=dword:00000000 Or are you referring to the OOBE ?
  14. You need to fill-out a registration form and such..... just too much of unnecessary action. Cut through it, and get the build no. 1218: Same old key. 180 day trial limit.
  15. Finally! Someone on here, who does not hate WinME, lol. (see my old posts to look at the anti-WME sentiment, lol)
  16. Which would be? I got only a http link, and yeah its legit too.
  17. It indeed is a guide - single .CHM file, 8.5 MB. But I still think using something like a winrar SFX archiver instead, would have reduced the download size - currently the "installer" does sound a mis-nomer and is adding to the download size.
  18. By its very nature, activation is machine-specific. And this method does not try to break any of such components. So yeah, it will still not work on more than 1 machine.
  19. It depends...You'd know which are the ones that changed - or the name of each key itself will tell you whether its needed or whether the key is unrelated to what you want. For your testing and mistakes, take a look at VMware - saves a lot of head-aches.
  20. Remember I said 7.0 was cool? Check it out on main page (news on software section). It has struck YET again.
  21. Hi Paddy100, Welcome to MSFN No, its not you committing any mistakes. The $Progs folder is itself not present in the win2k OEM folder lists - only on XP. How can you work-around? Make an SFX archive that extracts silently to %ProgramFiles%, and have it run from some other folder through your scripts.
  22. No, making the installers optimised. Would a waste of time to type out the same thing twice. Maybe the required info will be added to the updated uA guide (its in the cooker since a few days) - let's see....
  23. ahemmm.... EasyBoot does not use scripts, and it is not the one that flyakite's guide uses.flyakite's guide in fact refers to CDshell. No, not possible. As suggested above, using a multoi-boot loader is the way to go.
