  1. Of course there is....Just don't remove proofing tools while shrinking. Then make an MST for the additional CD, and add the extra proofing tools into where you want - and run the MSI with the MST for settings.
  2. You can get it in either PCI-E or AGP 8x/4x form... why?
  3. Just try a re-format of C: and install it again! That'd eliminate OS-related causes. I hope you don't keep any data on your C: partition - just the OS/apps alone.
  4. Huh? The linked page above has exactly that and more! [GuiUnattended] ProfilesDir="C:\Documents and Settings\" You can change the default location of Documents and Settings using this entry.
  5. Evidently, searching is a lost art.link to thread No, I don't mean any offense, but when large amounts of text typed up over time, are simply skipped over, it gets on your nerves....
  6. That still ain't good enough, go love 7zip.
  7. Nice!! Thanks for the info - will try it now.
  8. Multi-posting same thing repeatedly: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=35091 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=35092 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=34907 See rules, don't do it again. If you took the time to read through available docu on the forum, you'd not need to ask this.
  9. 1. You don't need registry for this, its do-able from winnt.sif values - http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/reference.htm 2. Drive-letters such as "P:\" already exists at text-mode setup itself - so no need for raw specifying [like multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)].
  10. Looks like an Insufficient RAM issue. See if too many tasks are running at once.
  11. * topic moved
  12. @durex Maybe the solution is far simpler: 1. If the "%AUStart%\Internet" folder is not created before moving files into it, how will the command work? 2. The "Administrative Tools" in start menu is actually a folder. It is enabled/disabled from registry.
  13. @dewitn So now what do you really mean to say? You have yourself taken away drive-letter assigments, and now you can't access it. Give it back drive-letters from disk-management and it will be proper again. If you don't want drive letters, mount the drives in empty NTFS folders. And remember, lack of drive-letters just for the sake of compatibility when connecting the HDD to some other PC is a blunder. When you connect it to some other PC, windows will automatically assign drive-letters. EDIT: Oh, saw slayer69's post just now. Yes, slayer69's right.
  14. Hey, stop it you three. @drjonesx What is your question, and why is this topic in the General Discussion section? If you don't want to take the time to describe what you want, its unlikely any one else will take the time to want to help you.
  15. None of those, if I were in your shoes. An nVidia GeForce FX6600 or 6800GT would be far better - in that same price range.
  16. mmarable, your issue is not at all related to WinPE - so relax and be comfortable! First, for $OEM$ to work in your case, it should be placed *INSIDE* the i386 folder. the OEM folder is placed beside i386 only when booting from CD. Second, your issue of having to change the CD might be because txtsetup.sif is not having the correct value for "SetupSourcePath". Open up that file and see if that line simply has "\" as the value. Lastly, you are over-complicating your install. There's no need to make it quite as complex.... Your "XP setup" starting scripts and the copying over of files to HDD thru batch-files sounds too round-about for starting out. Keep it simple, then when all is fine and you get the confidence that you can trouble-shoot minor problems by yourself, raise the complexity level.
  17. Just slip-stream SP2 into your XP CD, and re-format C: and install windows(w/SP2). Note that I say SLIP-STREAM SP2 into the CD, not to install SP2 after install XP. And to avaoid further problems, stay away from IE as much as possible, use mozilla or Opera.
  18. Most probably the disk is still perfectly usable (that is, if you asked nero to not fix those path-depth errors). Anyways, just try the disk on a test-system or VM, and see for yourself.
  19. @xous As un4given1 says, you can't integrate/slip-stream office into windows in the true sense of the term. @tap52384 No, its not possible, you can only have the o2k3 install happen automated without your input. Seems to be some confusion here regarding what slip-streaming is, and what having an app-install integrated into setup is.
  20. No, this merging is nice. You can always keep a CD with the original files, locked away somewhere. I think I'd wait though, until that is fixed somehow.P.S: Screenshot in first post was too large in file-size. Edited to cut down size.
  21. No, it won't. The retail CD has only SP2 merged.MCE2005 has WMP10+SP2 - but that's a totally different story (its not available in retail, and is only sold with Media Center PCs by OEMs).
  22. Hmm... I'm fine alright. Its mostly the coastal and rural areas that got hit. Other places affected have been tourist resorts on islands (and as far as India is concerned, one major city - Chennai - has been affected and people there are doing as much as they can to get life back on track).
  23. Take any JPG, GIF, PNG or whatever format image, and use IrfanView to convert it to 640x480, 256 color. Iview can keep the color to an extent - saving with MS Paint makes the color look washed out.
  24. If you found those screen shots good, get more (scrshots and info) here - http://www.winsupersite.com/longhorn/
  25. I know I can't force it, but if in your shoes, I'd conclude that SP1 is showing its age (been almost 2 years). And I'd slip-stream SP2 and re-install.
