  1. Let the testing begin Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) User's Guide for Windows Code-named "Longhorn" here
  2. Well for what i read You can install/integrate the hotfixes in the image file... So much for countless hours improving our methods Sound very promising...lets see if Ms screws it up
  3. Follow these steps... 1 - go to mcafee site and download current sdat file 2 - run the sdat file with the "/e" parameter 3 - disable antivirus 4 - go to the antivirus folder and paste the sdat extracted files 5 - enable the antivirus again ... Voila
  4. ... It was just me that had nightmares with paths management in Autoplay? I mean...the place you configure the ".exe" path...i didn't want to use absolute paths and relatives gave me nothing but an headache and pure hate for that program :\
  5. I never had any issues with my TI set up here...i even had to restore *gasp* my server for 2 times....never let me down. Dunno about the usb disk thingy you mention, never used it myself...i always backup to another disk or to network...
  6. I believe the tag you are searching is : .inst_tagdisp . Just change the background-color: to transparent or the code you see fit. I cant try it atm...if it doesnt work let me know.
  7. @urie That folder doesn't show up in windows even if "View Hidden Folders" is ticked? What about "Operating system files"? That folder is still acessible from other programs? im thinking of xplode or wihu or wpi.
  8. Hehe you beat me to it genzo I was thinking in implementing a theme based xplode as well but you were faster. My method is based in an autoit script ,2 batch files and 2 text files. Just to give an idea...the names are just an example run.bat calls the autoit script and then xplode copy.bat copy the content of the folder of the theme to be applied. IE the theme to be run is 5...copy.bat copies the content of a folder called 5 to xplode folder. theme.exe its the compiled autoit script that checks 2 text files to know what theme is going to be loaded. And then call the copy.bat to apply the theme. total.txt holds the number of themes that are stored last.txt holds the number of the last theme to be used, so theme.exe can call the next theme.if last equals total then starts from the first one its a bit confusing and perhaps not the best idea...but if works...and each time i run xplode is a different theme without having to manually mess with the file everytime. Its really a shame that almost no one is getting their hands dirty with this, maybe the 3 weeks limit pulled someone off....oh well... If anyone wants some details or have some questions...plz PM me.
  9. I simply dont have those files (winntu.dll neither winntu.dl_) in my cd...I went through the tutorial before asking (and the tutorial mentions winnt32u.dll not winntu.dll)
  10. If you mean WINNT32U.DLL, there's no reference in there of those strings... winntu.dll i dont have that file.... Thanks anyway... Nobody else? Please
  11. I've been editing my setup screen and come to a point that i want to remove a part of the text that appears...but i can't find where I can edit it...i've been through winntbbu and syssetup with no results... Please see atached shot to see... Screenshot I believe that in English say something like "Installing devices...", the others are something like "Instaling Network...", "Installing Start Menu Components" and that... Does anyone know what file to edit?
  12. did you tried what i told you? i'm 100% sure it works, cause i had the same issue and it seems is easy enough to you to do it.
  13. if you go to the properties of the file...theres a button called "unlock"...next time it install it wont ask you to press run...youll have to do it to every file in the share...but i rather do that, that add the server as a trusted site.
  14. If that is how it has to be ... ok. I can see why you have come this and understand your position. Now: Questions: 1 - The diferences between the builds are only that? I mean...no features added to different builds? Feature Requests: 1 - I really like the information bar thingie...maybe you could make the item getting installed appear there, everytime it changes. Bugs: 1 - I pinpointed (sp?) the sidebar issue...you were right...it follows the items being installed BUT if the item is not selected it will stay there until the next one that is selected, if none is the sidebar wont move. Hope to being usefull.
  15. Yeah i intend to implement that to Windows 2000 ... but as i am lazy as hell i am expecting the Rollup Update to save me from rearrange the the software list after If i find some time i will get on the works with it sooner.
  16. As promised here's a link with some pics showing my Xplode changes.... i know that suck a bit...but i dont have any patience (sp?) to work with graphs so i didnt took a lot a time with them... Screenshots Here's the guidelines. All menus have time limit so i can put a cd in it...and if i want to be default, just let it roll, having the choice to change a bit or all of the process. Pic 1 - Runs from a cd from the winnt.sif in GuiRunOnce, mapping a share from our server (This point is not implemented yet, but i have tested, and i dont foresee any problem) Pic 2 - Starts a menu choice from the server giving the user all the options (this way i can add/remove methods as much as i want without burning new cds and without having to test for days) Pic 3 - Wihu menu selection Pic 4 - Wihu on the works Pic 5 - Xplode menu selection Pic 6 - Xplode on the works Hope this can help someone and if you have any doubt post here I hope all users who use Xplode share their knowledge/methods/shots so the developer see that there are people who really know how's things work and can improve it.
  17. Looks there's still hope for mankind, right Wraith? Nicely done genzo...after i saw your example, sudently motivation came back to me. Maybe Monday i'll post my...no work till then .
  18. well i wouldn't know anything about the HWD ID ...but one thing i know for sure is that's a pain in the a$$ to configure properly a software modem manually then i wouldnt want to imagine the mess windows can do through is own . Most modems work properly i think....at least i dont see such a great utility in this.Just my 2 £
  19. Xplode is no longer available to hobyists for download...you can thank to all people like the one who started this topic.
  20. yeah... more important than reading the docs is to take a close look at the examples... It's possible to learn the very basics of Xplode in a couple of minutes.
  21. *bump* then what do you want the computer to do if the shared folder is offline?
  22. maybe you should go to 1st grade to learn to READ then come back...what do you think?
