  1. As in topic description. I would like to, preferrably without vlite actually, build iso with only ultimate version, but the "apply" button doesnt show. Unless i f.ex enable tweaks or unattended or any other option.
  2. Removed it with vlite. However, if you have it in vista, just disabling it will NOT be good enough. You have to remove the dependency with regedit. I have tested with both onboard and with x-fi extreme gamer. I find it for my use, best to completely remove it. It's like qos, just audio. Also latency of sound is improved imho. On a sidenote i also think x-fi isnt worth it if onboard is up to HD standards.
  3. Sounds like u either have tcp ip helper for ipv6 installed and enabled and its reporting missing services for ipv6 or that some network diagnostic service is actually reporting ipv6 helper service missing. Something like that i guess. I have just installed vista without diagnostic services, and think i actually need them, i cant use network sharing center, and yes i have both network explorer and event viewer etc. Diagnostic tools are ok to have anyway i guess.
  4. You want to remove just keyboards but keep all fonts. So then you would have to integrate language packs. I am running a project here and goal is to try and integrate all available languagepacks for x64 bit ultimate sp1 version. There are 36 total language packs and i have so far integrated about 20 or 21. Iso is currently 8GB or so, nothing else removed except media pictures, samples etc. It takes very much time after a while to integrate each file. Temporary directory with only temp. vlite files was over 300 000 files, over 30 GB. It could be more, it took forever to count amount inside that folder. However, upon vista installation you decide what language you want to use, and i dont know if vista will install all language fonts, just because they are available. I think probably not, but i really dont know. Keyboard removal is not yet availabe in vlite, but hopefully will come soon.
  5. No problem here either on Vista ultimate x64 sp1 with 8 gigs ram. Im running with 4 sticks normally 2stick=1.8 volt, bios is setting it to 1.95 volt automatically. It's important to adjust if you have more then 2 sticks, or less, just 1.
  6. I loved using win2003 server as workstation, but you always had to keep up with patching system or tweaking so certain program didnt recognize it as a server version of windows. Especially Adobe programs didnt like server version. But it is fixable. The problem is tho that i dont like to have to tweak every installer files just so it suits windows. I can fix adobe cs3 so it will install on server 2003 f.ex but once you update it you have to do it again. Endless loop of problems you can avoid by not using server versions. Havent tried 2008 tho. Instead of making win2008 a workstation, why not just remove programs from vista that are NOT default in win2008, so vista behaves like 2008? Seems much more simple, and much more foolproof.
  7. Why fat? NTFS is way safer, and more features, even faster at times. Rename folder might happen in future version of vlite, but until then get WAIK and start messing around with own install. Vlite is cool for make Vista more suitable to your needs/desires. Vlite is cool because you can make vista reflect yourself. And i'm pretty cool so...
  8. This happened to me when i tried the servicepack normal install one of the first times around, and i was stupid enough to do some stuff in safemode, in between the booting. Reinstalled and let it finish on its own, everything ok. On install vista or any other o.s. its good practise to unplug any device you dont need during the install. Makes for a faster install, and less searching for drivers on vista media.
  9. what directories are u talking about? There should be administrator (which can be renamed in nlite), all users (renameable too, regthingie), local service, network service, default user. Default user is deleteable and i've read local can be too. I prefer to just leave them well alone, but i delete any empty directories or crap .ini files etc inside them. But the folders themselves and any .dat files is ok. Just delete all crap inside them. You should also check for system directory, but i cant remember the path name atm. Its like standard system user. Gah, it also contains files you can delete etc. Im on a temporary vista vlite install atm so i cant check up on the name right now.
  10. I havent used normal xp 32bit for several years, but just made on for my gf, i used NR_IE7en_Addon_1.1.0, google it, and it worked very well. Wmp11 install done using the booogy, integrated 12 wmp11 updates, links on page, 2 of them will not work, wmp11ss will tell.. =) First slipstream sp3, then wmp11 routine, then start nlite again and integrate ie7 addon etc etc... GL.
  11. I wonder how nuhi is approaching updates, if he also takes into account what files are added/registry changes that comes with updates, i still find it best to not integrate stuff that i will remove.
  12. I used to use wmp ss 0.991 i think it was, with no problem, i deleted the old version yesterday so dont really know if it was 0.991 or 0.996 lol. Anyway wmp ran just fine, tho i am currently moving more to using only portable firefox with media connectivity plugin, so to use vlc or mplayer instead of wmp. One quick thing about wmp11 and its integration: upon finished install if i go into sysoc.inf file and delete "hide" from wmp11 files, i can remove certain extra files from add/remove in control panel. I dont know if it actually does anything, but it looks like it anyway. I find the wmp11 network and sharing services or what they were called, bloatware, annyoing at best. Maybe it could be made a registry file or something so the extra wmp crap can be deleted upon install or so. I'm also hoping nuhi will take a better look at x64 after a while. the Iasjet service has been laying around as dead meat for ages now. Ie the service entry and name are all there, except the service doesnt exist as its removed, that is on my test install showed here.
  13. The only 2 things in you last session i dont normally do is the duplicate removal and merging of the .cab files. I can remove pretty much anything on x64 and everything works, stripped to bare internet only (no lan, need 3party tools). I would try without checking them two options. Or possibly check you have clean xp source for sp slipstream. It could also be some peripheral you have need integrated xp drivers.
  14. This issue probably stems from the amd architecture. Solution is to set memory timings manually, or you could otherwise experience weird stability issues after a while. This is very clear on xp x64 but on vista such issues seems to be gone, afaik. But definitively try settings memory timings manually, not all boards set them correctly. Vista just handles things a bit differently then xp, thus less probability of such crashes. Infact imho it's a good practise to set up everything on manual, not leaving anything to the automatic setting in bios. So if crashes do occur, troubleshooting them issues can be easier.
  15. Check logical disk manager = automatic, check drive optimized for fast removal, alternatively try with ahci disabled/enabled (ahci needs drivers). Also some drives come with jumpers in place. If so, check into that as well. I dont use any jumpers on drives, all sata.
  16. What do you mean you can not install after windows has installed? Obviously you have installed, and are missing some drivers. Preferrably you should use a clean xp image to install sp3 on.Oem images aren't exactly that.
  17. The problem here comes down to 1 simple thing, that both drives were partitioned as primary ones. The only primary you should have, to be safe, would be the installing partition. If other partition/s was logical this problem would never have occured.
  18. Ok but can i set it up, so i can make my own server so to retrieve files over internet as in ftp or whatnot? For *personal* usage, ie not public.
  19. Could you try to describe what you mean better in post 1? I am currently integrating all languages into vista, it comes with just 1 language, english, which is normal that it only comes with 1 language.
  20. On a sidenote Visual Basic 2008 runtime files have been out on the market for a while. I havent downloaded the x64 version yet, so i dont know 100% that it exists, but i would believe so. The directx installer here runs from %Source%DX9c\DXsetup.exe /Silent, which is from the extracted directx_mar2008_redist.exe. No problems here installing that. I talk to friend who is a programmer and he uses c+ express 2008 edition, which he says is very popular. Coding games demos etc. I am curious, if 2008 version contains backwards compability, and system can be patched so 2005 version is not needed. But as i wrote in previous post, i think certain installers, ie the ATI drivers installer, forces the 2005 install anyway.
  21. Did you* first* disable automatic system recovery, drivercheck obviously, and possibly take out the copy in winsxs folder? I seem to recall i saw a tool to make own security .cat file for patched tcpip.sys which might be the clue to make it 'accepted' totally by vista, thus not necessarily future windows updates.
  22. Ok so to ask question in another way. Could it be done so that one could install programs from lan? Now obviously this would be great in several scenarios. I don't quite understand your refusal to not do this, how great this could be. There's obviously a great potential in this, ie linux distros. Not that it should be linuxified, but it would be great to have possibility to set up own server mirror, f.ex lan and one could easily retrieve needed programs for install on 20 machines. Or schools. The possibilities are relatively infinite here.
  23. Hello. Just started reading on WPI. So Question: Is it possible to have WPI search for mirror on internet for programs/packages to install? If so, much profit, and much love!
  24. Can you not try to test it in vmware? I would but computer kind of busy integrating 36 language packs atm. Much profit!
  25. I actually dont see the problem here, as i do this once in a while anyway. However, i also make sure the keyboard is totally dry. Just use a hairdryer, and keep heat active on the bathroom floor and leave it there over night. My keyboard smells like soap and is really clean =)
