I know it is possible thru the help of Winroute, which takes me no more than 5min to set up. But I want to know if it is possible in Windows 2k3 without the need for Winroute? So I could determine which method is more appealing..

Matrix Check your drivers, and disable any unnecesary services, try to not install uneded programs.. How old is your instalation anyway? To ALL Could Win XP be more stable than Win HOME?

Not TRUE. The only reason U notice such big difference of stability is because your WinXP aren't properly set up.

I'm not intending to start a flame war going on here but.... I dont see any benefit - as I've said in another topic(s), it may well be stable, but its designed as a OS that serves other machines - thus the reason behind its name lol I find it very unlikely that people have actually gone out and bought 2003 over XP somehow - sorry if you have but even the OEM costs double/triple the OEM of XP Pro so I just find it unlikely.... unless you're loaded of course And regarding stablility, MS have worked hard in recent years fine tuning XP, as they did with other OS' (admittedly, not as well) and if treated right, then XP will be as stable as you can get really. The only benefit would be certain server tasks, but then, why try and turn it into a desktop OS. It hasnt made any sense to me but there we go hehe Only my two cents - no flaming me please. Agreed!!! Personal reason just include that I don't feel comfortable calling such organization for help. I prefer asking U about it. It's silly, but that's me btw. Hypothetical: If I had a pirated version wouldn't it be a lot easier to just call them and ask for support?

Not everyone are running dedicated server. On my W2k3 I require DX and sound aswell as constant Internet connection and filesharing for the client PCs!!!

As I mentioned earlier I already have the same type of network set up. ps. I got those NICs4free

What do U mean by RRAS?

Just changed the username of one of my client machine but the machine name remains the same. Now the SERVER machine won't login to the client machine since it is still using the old Username... How can I refreshen it? edit:there were some misleading information

I see you're not too familiar about networks so U might not even know if it is possible. Anyway, U connect different networks with different IP ranges(subnets) ex. Network 1: 10.0.0.1-10.0.0.255 Network 2: 10.0.1.1-10.0.1.255 Network 3: 10.0.2.1-10.0.2.255 Network 4: In my case ADSL, is where U also set DNS for Internet sharing to work on CLIENT computers. I believe U get the picture. The problem is connecting all these networks together, so they all have Filesharing and Internet sharing. And here comes Winroute, which does precisely that. I've read on multiple sites that an option BRIDGE CONNECTION is in effect for this kind of network but I'm not sure if that is true... So if any1 have any else ideas please let me know.

My problem is with the SOUND DRIVER. When I install the latest driver for my Hercules Fortisimo II, windows will just restart, and keep restarting untill I uninstall the driver from my sistem in safe mode, cos when in normal mode it will instantly restart when the STARTUP sound is played. Help me!

Been running Win2k PRO SP4+updates for 20days straight now. But 2days ago I found a strange error. The CTRL+ALT+DEL or CTRL+ALT+ESC doesn't function anymore, Scheduled Task wont engage when specified to... SO I thought that keyboard shortcuts just don't work, but they do.Since Win+E still opens Explorer.exe! I checked the error logs, the services.msc, Antivirus, Adware and found that there is absolutly nothing wrong. I'm sure that a simple restart of the OS would fix all the problemes but I would prefer not having to restart the OS because of this.

I've been wondering whether is it possible to have 4NICs in the Win2k3 Server machine. One nic would be the ADSL and the other 3NICs would be connected to client computers??? And all of the machine must have Filesharing and Internet Sharing and without the use of any external applications such as Winroute. ps. I already have this kind of configuration set up thru the help of Winroute PRO on Win2k SP4 PRO. I'm looking for a FileManager that is similar to Explorer but it has: speed mesurment when copying files, 2pane view + TREE, better file handling,... What are your recomendations? btw. I don't care if it is free or not, as long as it gets the job done...
