  2. what about Easy Message? Latest version is dated 2004? btw. My MSN 7 on WIn2k just sitting with no contacting talking to takes 8MB RAM and 16MB SWAP. Now that's to much for my poor laptop
  3. but BUGED like s***. Recived so many crashes with her that I can't even count
  4. Latest MSN is just too bloated and slow. So am looking for an alternative MSN Messenger. Which alternative do U recommend' Heard GAIM was OK. What do thing?
  5. That-s exactly what I was doing so far, I thought there was a simplier way. Since XP is so oh and oh "good" What is weird is that on Win2k this works perfectly. btw. If Windows XP doesn-t treat it as using a drive letter. Could I make letter D unavailabe to the system and then mount the network driver to it_
  6. Tried the filter part, but the thing is that the thing I filter is then listed. But I want the filtered thing to not be listed. Any I looked round the program and I can't find no option for disabling event log writing.
  7. And expensive and also they suck your battery rapidly. Which is a very important fact on notebook
  8. Not the kind of program I had in mind. I want some tweaks for networks, dns resolving, ... Or are Windows 2k3 settings simpy the best already
  9. Are there no tweaks 4U to reccommend them?=?
  10. nice tool. tanxy
  11. Whenever my notebook runs on battery the BATTERY icon in the SYSTEM TRAY(next to the clock) is not updated in real-time. I have to double click it, 4 it to get updated. How could I resolve this? Using nLited slipstreamed Win2k w/USP5 RC1
  12. STUPID ME I meant to say TRAY ICONS(the icons next to clock) will start a new thread, since I can't change the title on this one. ADMIN DELETE*DELETE*DELETE
  13. Anyone? This bahavior occurs on a number of computers using WinXP. So it' definetly not an isolated one
  14. HEre it is: FUJITSU_MHT2040AT__SN_NN0AT3713HTT____REPORT.txt
  15. Checked the surface test on the drive which found no error. What else could the reason be?
  16. I'm almost 95% of the time on the network. Since the Network drive D is mapped to my server's HDD, which is 24/7. How do I put on persistent? And why would persistent help, since even when am browsing the network drive and I plug USB FLASH DRIVE in it will still assigned it the letter D
  17. Updated my original post. I don't have any particular problems with it. I just want to tweak it, to get the best possible performance out it.
  18. I TOTALLY AGREE. Except perhaps one thing. U specified an URL that would be given to end user so he could DL such componants. I thing MS wouldn't like that very much since he would have no way of knowing whether the end user uses genuine software or not. I would just say that the updated files should be taken of the END-USER CD. ex: Want to update Win2k with XP bootloader? Simple just put your WinXP CD in and USP will extract the neccessary files nedeed. IMHO M$ won't mind that.
  19. Have 4computers on the network. One is Windows 2k3 SP1 Standard server and the other clients are WinXP. On the server there are 2NICs. The first NIC is connected directly to ADSL modem(not router or a hub) and second one is connected to SWITCH which has all 3 client PCs connected. The server's primary function is for Filesharing, ICS, Firewall, Peerguardian, P2P programs, DHCP&DNS Server What kind of tweaks should I apply to the server for maximum performance? SPECS: DURON 1600MHZ 512DDR HITACHI 250GB 7200RPM 8MB ATA HDD NIC 100Mb
  20. TOPIC MOVED HERE: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=60652
  21. I can confirm that. Using it on my notebook
  22. I do believe DEREKT is correct. HAMINS Windows counts disk space correctly. Cos 1GB is 1024MB and 1MB is 1024KB and so on. But the HDD manufactureres are cheating so 1GB is 1000MB and so ppl think the HDD is bigger. It's the same with CRT MONITORS. A 17" monitor has only about 15.7" viewable surface. So a 17" CRT monitor and 15"LCD monitor are almost the same in viewable surface.
  23. Yes and it works very well and fast indeed. Using it right now. B4 had WinXP installed but was to sllugish for: Mobile Celeron 2.4 256DDR 40gb 4300RPM hdd
  24. Yes I know about that too. But I would like a way to change it in MSCONFIG? Or even better a MSCONFIG better replacment with more options
  25. Installed Win2k on my notebook. And it took 1hour to complete it. If I recall correctly that is not normal. And the HDD is rated at 4300RPM's. btw. I tried creating and formating the partition with Partition Magic 8 first but Win2k installation program just refused it and said the partition was damaged or corrupted... So my only other option was to use the default Win2k formater and wait... wait.... wait.?? btw. The Win2k CD was nLited
