  1. Ok I'll try that too.
  2. Some new components and tweaks. SFC fix, needs testing before celebration. Changelog and download
  3. Welcome to the forums. 1. start menu shortcuts will be removed with the appropriate component while those in the Control Panel are more tricky. They will be removed but those new text links on the left will not be cleaned so they will either popup missing file or simply nothing. It's not much of a deal since they are not intrusive like normal Control Panel icons which are removed with the components. 2. no, components can not be (easily, or with vlite) returned. That's why you can use full Vista for a few months and on every next reinstall remove stuff which you saw as not needed. On the other hand I go with another approach...I remove all and see what I'm missing. If you try it I recommend leaving Application Experience.
  4. Just to let you know that this issue is probably solved with the help of ElTorqiro. I say probably because I'm the only one who tested it, you'll get your hands on it tomorrow probably.
  5. Have you tried the full framework? If that doesn't help try this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en
  6. Someone reported that some spyware protection software might be the cause, also the antivirus protection. I'll see if it can be avoided, let me know if you don't have such software installed. For the record it works fine in my tests.
  7. You have some of those settings in the nLite - Unattended - Network Settings - Common. And some on the individually added adapters below. However if you find that it's missing something you need let me know and I'll gladly add it.
  8. Yes I will look the others. Let me repeat...vLite will not change any tweaks if you don't select that page or the setting isn't bold (changed from the detected value). Check your script on the full Vista and with new components kept if the full one worked, could be that some of them is needed.
  9. Ok if they updated them so that they don't clash any more then I won't bother with it. Thx for the info.

I removed that language so can't switch anyway but I saw some bug report that sometimes it doesn't switch even if the lang is kept, must be something removed like Text Services, I'll be checking this but don't hold your breath regarding the signatures, thank you.
  11. Try to keep the Application Experience and WMP Codecs (and maybe WMP if needed) and please let me know if it helps, especially if you eliminate one of them.

Maybe I misunderstood the issue. Do you always get that pop up when you switch to that language (using language bar?) or only once while adding it to the regional language list?
  13. swlov, it's not normal to get the missing oobe, that's only possible if you removed OOBE or your install is totally broken. Try once without the addons and see which one is causing it. You can use virtual machines for the testing. ICFGNT.DLL is probably the same cause. I'll check the theme.
  14. I see it's time to add the list to the front page. It should work with all existing Vista versions, including the new Server 2008.
  15. Let me repeat: "Could it be that your XML depends on the Image title, which has '(vLite)' in the name after the modifications?" Meaning: pleased edit your XML file and check if there is some kind of specific Vista title and change it to the title from the vLite's browse info. Do you create that XML with the WAIK? Maybe try to repeat the process after the vLite, just open and resave.
  16. Excellent list, thank you. Now to reply on some of them, others are considered valid: Hibernate is forced on - isn't that the default behavior...btw I really doubt that vLite is the culprit there...maybe that script needs something removed though...try manually in cmd with admin privileges. chkdsk has a blank screen during boot - check if you disabled GUI during booting, XP had the same issue, not vlite related. Broken links in Control Panel - many of them are hard-coded but I'll check if some of which you have reported are actually registry leftovers
  17. Thank you, I'll check that.
  18. Mandarin, how about some details, it's fixing time at the nLand?
  19. "nlite does not ask me any more question or give me any option to configure anything else." "I tried it and it does ask" And that's it. That list is the texmode, you can change the radio button to the pnp-only mode, btw don't do it. If it didn't work then it maybe isn't the right driver, try the intel matrix storage driver, I use it for the ICH8R controller on P965 and it works.

    nlite runonce issue

Try to use nLite only once with all the settings you want to change or add with it. Especially the drivers, hotfixes, addons and themes integrations. It cannot detect what is already integrated so it just does what your last preset already did. So either disable unwanted pages on second run or simply do only the new stuff, don't leave the old ones. Also it doesn't support removing something integrated.

It is when some files are removed from within. But why would you change the languages more than once anyway, do it after Windows install while the CD is still in the drive.

    Settings folder

Not yet. It will be there eventually but I heard that there might be some issues in Vista regarding that, or it was the "program files" setting...
  23. Hm, since vLite also has an Unattended options with the xml file creation I'm sure it works. But I would bet that I heard a report like this before, that the xml file is there but it's not working, I would like to get to the bottom of this. Could it be that your XML depends on the Image title, which has '(vLite)' in the name after the modifications?
  24. Fully stripped XP vs fully stripped Vista in the future...well I think that XP will always be lighter, same as the Windows 2000 is when compared to the XP. Thing is that you always want that something extra from the new core, be it the looks or something like DX10. And your machine is much faster then before so you switch. Reason why I remove all these components is mainly to have a clean slate, better organized OS, then comes the optimization of hdd, ram and cpu usage as a bonus. While the OS is new like Vista is then it's reasonable to shift priorities towards the performance first, especially when you compare how much faster the Lite XP is.
  25. I'm sure that many users share his opinion, and as jaclaz said it we do it for fun. Also the majority of Windows users are afraid or annoyed by the idea of the reinstallation in general which is the basic point when using the nLite - File Round-Robin. CPU, lol
