  1. Finishing touch of your install failed, it's not just the Task Scheduler, when that icon remains in the Control Panel that means that nlite.inf wasn't executed. Setup failed before it got to it. If you want to remove the flash player try removing swflash.inf by putting it on the remove list, nothing else, nlite should parse it. But if IE infs are calling it it might fail again, check that in virtual before installing...and I recommend to reinstall, not possible to tell what are you missing.
  2. weeaboo, if you ever find out what it was and if I can do something to help let me know. I tried and couldn't replicate the issue.
  3. Nope, I don't put such things. Also you can see at download.com and softpedia.com that nLite got "clean" status. Check your installer if it has exact MD5 hash, however there is only 1.4 listed on my site to compare with so it's useful only if you have 1.4.
  4. I would like to replicate this one as well but no luck. I presume he deleted the nlite.inf after the install...or somehow it got deleted by some addon.

    usbport.sys :S

Why don't you simply run nlite on that same source and take the sys file after it's done or use that install if you haven't installed yet. If you have post-hotfixed file then first copy your current file into that install (delete i386\USBPORT.SY_ and copy your usbport.sys into the i386 folder, no need to rename or compress) and then run nlite...anyway let me know if you have any more questions.

    vLite 1.0 RC - Hammer

hehe you got me. Hm how did that one missed me...anyway it's not saved as a priority, no way of escaping

Hanschke, I see now what you meant, preinstalled. I'll see about adding capture support after the 1.0 final. Jeronimo, haven't seen that one, I install the downloaded version, directx_jun2007_redist.exe, works just fine. But I will check that web version if it is maybe possible to fool it, thx.
  8. Yes, once the patching is done rerun vlite and remove the manual install. It's just a silly mistake that it checks for some file prior patching which is removed with the manual install so it skips the patch if removed.

sp00f, yes. For MSN its: Program Files\MSN\cclitesetupui.exe
  10. Please try with Manual Install kept.
  11. Well it's not legal to download Windows, that's where the theory fails right in the start. Not to mention activation later on. And second part of the question would be probably can you use upgrade version for a clean install. There was some guide for that, this one for example: http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/31/clean-i...ade-discovered/
  12. They need Game Explorer as stated, that's all. I'm looking at the Minesweeper right now, made with that vlite.

tVdP, yeah, reading descriptions Next time keep Manual Install component. You can still boot from that cd once the ISO is made, setup.exe isnt' the only way to install Vista.

JohnnyFu, the component which benchmarks your pc, the one responsible for the performance index. And that whole page in question (performance inf and tools).
  15. Here is a third party mirror: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=5387
  16. That's a silly thing to say, I know I use it and it works. There is nothing that can cripple games in the removals. What game, was anything reported, have you tried it on the full Vista, try to keep Application Experience if you removed it. Install your latest graphic and sound drivers.

Alex, because links on the left are useful. I would gladly remove this page with WinSAT but haven't seen this collection of links anywhere else...anyone? dcyphure, try ctrl+f5 or simply wait tomorrow. Sometimes your ISP caches it.
  18. gosh, nice find. At first I thought like "****, we hacked the file for that...", however this doesn't make that 256mb hack obsolete because that one works by booting the CD as well.
  19. 1. it's hard to focus (on the right thing) by looking at that avatar 2. if you use custom file removal (advanced - remove) then you gotta test it on your own 3. always check your windows\setuperr.log In your case it fails because of manually removed flash.ocx file but who knows how many more, you may start with that one. Or clean it from the swflash.in_ after nlite is done.
  20. weeaboo, I tried your preset and there were no issues. But judging from your post it's not clean XP under which you're trying this so it's actually impossible for me to try it. Try to make all those updates and unattended settings all at once, don't rerun twice. But that alone shouldn't be the cause, I'm more suspicious on those black popups you're saying, it's from something you add, an update pack or an addon. Also try keeping DEP on Default even though OptIn is default.
  21. amocanu, ah I see, keep Manual Install or just leave winsetup.dll in the Sources folder for it to detect it. Will correct in the next one, thx.

Alex, that sounds extreme and unlikely that something removed is the cause of the failure in that suspicious situation to begin with.
  23. Did they rewrite peimg from nothing?
  24. Vista has .NET in it, everyone running nLite have .NET. MiniPETools isn't MS product, too weird to make that requirement. Too much work for optional features. When done it has to be supported from the box.
  25. mhyll, thank you but I can't distribute the peimg ms tool, I wish I could, then hotfixes would be supported as well. Now I gotta write my own routines but that might not even be possible with this new package thingy.
