It's not that I have anything against other tools, it's just I would use nlite for updates and ie7. Then Boooggies WMP11 integrator for WMP. Which is supported through nlite directly so you can just insert WMP installer in nlite hotfix page and it will ask for his integrator. That way it's all done in one go with one preset, easily changeable and upgradeable.

It hangs for me if I remove NetDDE in 2k, that's why it's removed in next version. Please try next one from tomorrow (1.4RC) and attach here your preset if it still hangs.

It is a good order in general. Not that I recommend other tools, it's just if you want it that's the way to sort it. If you find something that breaks nLite like "I integrated IE with hfslip and then nLite breaks while removing System Restore" then do tell and I will be happy to fix.

Do you have an antivirus resident protection which scans all files? Did you copy the installation files directly to some partition and not in the dedicated subfolder?

I did fix something around this but please let me know if it still fails with the 1.4 RC when it comes out tomorrow.

You won't believe this but suddenly I couldn't run the World In Conflict. After tampering and blaming removals I found the solution in my case. Create a new user, that's it. Seems like I messed up my profile somehow. Could be by reg cleaning tools or something, can't say for sure.

Keep the Media Center if you use it and the things it needs (wmp, codecs...) Also Media Scheduler Service is a must. Leave Internet Explorer too for the sake of compatibility. All other is up to you I guess. I remove all except IE, Aero and Media Scheduler. My PC is an audio storage and video player. Our difference is just that I don't use Media Center but a wireless mouse directly.

Try this: Rename BASE*.WIM to INSTALL*.SWM and move them to the \Sources folder where the boot.wim is. (of course E:\ will be your folder where you copy the installation files like c:\VistaDVD) E:\preload\BASE.WIM E:\preload\BASE2.WIM E:\preload\BASE3.WIM E:\preload\BASE4.WIM to E:\sources\INSTALL.SWM E:\sources\INSTALL2.SWM E:\sources\INSTALL3.SWM E:\sources\INSTALL4.SWM Then browse with vLite to it and let it Merge. But merge is broken in this vLite for some so you might want an older version or wait for a new one.

If I knew what it was I would fix it. To me it's all fine because I don't use SFC nor I see any benefit from it. I gave you all the list what triggers patching, so either avoid that or turn off SFC.

Rikimaru123, be sure that you're integrating the right drivers (storage and chipset) and don't use Visual Effects tweaks, I found some problematic ones with the German OS.

voidwalker, that's the price for having repair console. Half of the unattended functions are skipped. You can see them disable in the unattended page. Not my fault nor a bug.

1. I never heard of such a thing, are you sure that it required drivers and it wasn't just files, the popular SFC / WFP popup? Did you disable SFC in the Options - Patches? If you haven't do it. 2. is this Error reporting? I don't have any issues with it, if you ask me you can remove all components except IE Core and it will run 99% of stuff out there.

legolash2o, that preactivated notion wasn't aimed at you, only to those whose Unattended isn't fully unattended for no apparent reason. Post here any sequence of numbers or preset (with unattended part too, but fill bogus names and password and no cdkey) which fails and I'll try.

I'm now on SP1 and I'm just waiting to see if there will be those slowdowns when even small files are moved. Sometimes in Vista it literally hangs the Explorer if I move few small files to another folder, then I wait and it gets resolved by itself. I did have those 2 important hotfixes installed but they didn't help. Anyway I'll keep an eye open on SP1 if it has that solved before I talk highly of it So far it's ok. vLited to the bone, only issue is that Control Panel - Features breaks.

I tried now Framework Lite in Virtual machine and it works fine. You who have issues with it did you installed it into the nLite folder and are you Windows English or some other lang?

Check in the c:\boot.ini if there is double entry for DEP, usually there is, remove the one you don't want. But be careful, if you messup the boot.ini you won't be able to boot. You can remove the read-only by cmd command: attrib -r -h -s c:\boot.ini About those tweaks, there was some fixed with them in the next version so hopefully it will be fixed, if not let me know then.

There is no secret, why are you constantly aiming towards that is beyond me. Are you sure that the syssetup.dll is exactly the syssbck.dll now, did you overwrite it by hand? Did you remove CAT files?

Because Vista installation supports that. Maybe you could split the XP CDs by hand then when it stops and says that it's missing files you just put another CD and press retry. On the first cd be sure to have all the setup files, I don't have a list, you may do some trials in the virtual machine for that. Things like: txtsetup.sif dosnet.inf layout.inf ...

You may try merging the files, if there are bunch of SWM files on it. Procedure can be quite complicated, first post the file list of the DVD (type dir /s /b>list.txt in the cmd). And merging is broken on vLite 1.1 beta, you'll have to use 1.0 for that step.

If you're using that preactivated illegal Vista then don't. legolash2o, ever occured to you that you might be using not allowed chars. I gotta add checkups for those, let me know if you find out which was in your case.
